"Decriminalized Prostitution"

I am 24 and attend a state college. I took a human sexuality class taught by a strong supporter of the LGBT community. For the last three months I've heard little to nothing about family values or keeping sex/marriage/raising children sacred, but I was expecting this going in. I figured it couldn't hurt to really hear their arguments and viewpoints out just to know what the rest of the world believes.

I was shocked on Thursday and I am still shocked. We were presented a very one-sided viewpoint on the topic of "decriminalized prostitution". An 18 minute "Ted Talk" was played where a european former prostitute gave "the sex workers opinion". I was uncomfortable and very agitated the entire time as I listened to complete cold and numb logic on this topic as if it were a business/legal proposition.

When It ended the teacher opened discussion to the room, and made every attempt to steer the opinion of the class into the opinion of the video she methodically chose for us to watch. I was appalled that not only was I the ONLY person in the room to be against this proposition, but Even the girls who are 18-20 were offended by my reaction and spoke up against me challenging things I said! I cannot believe that legalizing sex work has been twisted into "empowering women" and being a positive thing for our society with complete nonsense about reduced crime, disease, taxes.

I drove home and really became distressed when I found that California is in the process of doing this very thing. There are also horrible articles written that "minors" will be "protected" under these laws as well. All the mainstream news outlets posts articles on a regular basis introducing and supporting this idea. I can't believe this is happening and how it has the complete support of the mob, and of my classmates who outwardly did not seem so hardened to this world as I had thought.

We will be indistinguishable from the other country's participating in this soon. I don't want to live in Bablyon/Pre-Christ roman empire. What are your thoughts on and what do we do? Practically, how are we going to live in this society without being disgusted every day.

Well, I am encouraged to hear from someone who is young and attending a "higher learning" institution and actually gets it. Now don't let me down and allow them to take your brain out, turn it around and put it back in. My advice, if you need the credit answer the questions on the exam you are paying to take, get the grade and forget everything the practitioners of witchcraft try to spell on you.

Oh don't worry, I've taken this advice to the flat earth extreme already. It's just troubling that young people have no sense of community or the implications of allowing evil to enter it.

They believe there is going to be doctor's patrolling the streets giving the ladies of the night STD exams and accountants pushing around wheel barrels full of john money which will rebuild our bridges instead of bombs.

It's already legal where I live. They are called escorts instead of prostitutes. They need a licence or something. Obviously this is a much better place now that they have to pay taxes on their income.

The only redeeming thing I can see in this trend is that the women themselves, many (but not all) of whom are victimized into prostitution in the first place, will not be considered criminals for their involvement. IMHO, the pimps, traffickers, and traders are the real criminals. The problem with decriminalizing is that even more people will be forced into that lifestyle, and it will no longer be considered wrong by the wider society. After all, if the destination isn't criminal activity, how is the path which takes people there?

On the flip side, the love of Christ, expressed by His followers who stand against such activity and seek to liberate people from that lifestyle, will shine brighter against the darkness.

3. Legalizing prostitution is nowhere near on a par with killing babies... and that was already legalized long ago.

It goes way way beyond that,there are communities all over the world that teach sex to their own children by having it with them,God told me so.
