Hello Poinsetta,

Just curious as to why you would think that the world is only 2000 years old? Jesus was crucified 2000 years ago and there is much human history prior to that.

From my understanding, mankind has been on the earth for approx. 6000 years.

Also, the way that it is stated in Genesis regarding the creation, the earth was already here without form and empty and completely covered with water. Therefore, the six days of creation doesn't include the creation of the earth itself, but everything on it, as well as the sun, moon and stars being created on the fourth day. In fact, the earth existed before everything else.

The conclusion then is that, we don't know how long the earth has been here. But we know that mankind and all that was created during the six days, has been here for 6000 years.
I read it in a book. That’s how i came up with it. I think the author was talking about Jesus times AC or BC

@Ahwatukee 6,000 years is still too little.

i think it's interesting that the Bible doesn't give an exact age for Jesus, even tho in other places scripture gives us time down to the exact hour.

Now Jesus himself was about thirty years old when he began his ministry.
(Luke 3:23)
When he inquired as to the time when his son got better, they said to him,
“Yesterday, at one in the afternoon, the fever left him.”
(John 4:52)

apparently some measures of time, God wants us to know definitely.
other measures of time, only approximately.
still others, He chooses not to tell us at all.
I always thought it was a paradox that in a book that REVEALS, HE CONCEALS THE 7 THUNDERS and what they uttered...

does the age of the world affect whether you will choose to be good?

These are the last days it’s the end of the world. God only understands 2,000 years. People have different opinions.

According to the NT writers they were in the last days. John goes further to state that they were in the last hour. Don't write us all off just yet'

For thus the Lord said to me, “In a year, as a hired man would count it, all the splendor of Kedar will terminate; and the remainder of the number of bowmen, the mighty men of the sons of Kedar, will be few; for the Lord God of Israel has spoken.”
(Isaiah 21:16-17)

how does a hired hand count time?
how is it different from other ways of measuring?
