Before I got banned by the ultra liberal website democraticunderground, I repeatedly warned DU members that its party was not doing enough to recruit and engage suburbanites and the farm belt. These are the two demographics that the DNC lost and gave Trump the margin of electoral victories. They simply assumed that they did not have to pound the pavement to get these votes and disregarded them as if they did not matter. But they do. So now my question is, have they learned their lesson? Will they now go into that part of the USA and recruit like they used to do back in the 1930s-1960s?
wOW! a site too liberal even for you? what where they hippies?

People there thought I was a member of the far right for daring to say that the solution to society's problems can be found in the Bible. ;)

Another factor in Trump's plurality victory that has been overlooked by the commentators is the fact that he was viewed as the "peace" candidate by some, especially by some liberals such as Rosa Brooks:

Donald Trump Is the Peace Candidate | Foreign Policy

like so many of you, I have found myself asking, time and again, “Yes, Hillary, I get that it would be cool to have a female president, but how do you intend to bring about world peace?”
Because let’s face it, my fellow Americans, Hillary is not that persuasive as the peace candidate. There was that whole Iraq War vote thing, for instance, for which I forgive her, though the Iraqis may not. And there was the Libya intervention thing and the “I want to do an unspecified something more in Syria” thing. Worst of all, Clinton seems utterly determined to bait the Russian bear. She denounced Russia’s 2014 annexation of Crimea as “illegal,” and she even once compared Russian President Vladimir Putin to Adolf Hitler, which, as everyone knows, is not a nice thing to say about someone, even if he is sort of like Hitler.

Sound outrageous to you? The conservative Pat Buchanan says essentially the same thing:

A Trump Doctrine 'America First' - Antiwar.com Original by -- Antiwar.com

"On Sunday’s "60 Minutes," Trump said: "You know, we’ve been fighting this war for 15 years. … We’ve spent $6 trillion in the Middle East, $6 trillion – we could have rebuilt our country twice. And you look at our roads and our bridges and our tunnels … and our airports are … obsolete.""

Discussion of a peace dividend - something only liberals ever talk about. This is why some liberals abandoned Hillary's pro war stance and voted for Trump. Yes, whether you thought of it or not, when you voted for Trump you voted for the likelier PEACE candidate.
