I will make Jerusalem a cup of trembling
Zechariah 12:2 Behold, I will make Jerusalem a cup of trembling unto all the people round about, when they shall be in the siege both against Judah and against Jerusalem.
A cup of trembling refers to a cup of drunkenness, that someone keeps on drinking even though they are drunk out of their mind, they are so befuddled they don't even know there is a siege going on against them. The focus is on Jerusalem. Now the way I read "Jerusalem" is that it depends on where we are in the timeline. As long as we are talking about the church age and the age of grace I think we have to consider the US to be "Judah". It is a country that is based on law, built on the constitution. And Jerusalem, the "city of Peace" would be Washington DC. Now after the rapture of the church Jerusalem would refer to the Jerusalem in Israel and the US becomes "the wilderness". We also know that in the church age the church is the Jerusalem which is above. In other prophecies it seems Ephraim, Joseph's younger son who wound up getting the double portion is the US. Obviously Judah and Ephraim are tribes in Israel and so have that meaning. But in the NT we hear about
Galatians 4:26 But the Jerusalem that is above is free, which is our mother.
and
Galatians 6:16 And as many as shall walk by this rule, peace be upon them, and mercy, and upon the Israel of God.
So it is reasonable to say that we can apply all the verses concerning Israel as a shadow of our own experience as Christians. This is the rule that Paul was referring to:
Galatians 6:14 But far be it from me to glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, through which the world hath been crucified unto me, and I unto the world. 15 For neither is circumcision anything, nor uncircumcision, but a new creature.
So then how would we, the Christians who are not drunk, who are not asleep, who are not befuddled, going to know when the Lord's return is upon us? We will see those in Washington DC and all the people round about (the mainstream media broadcasting out of NYC, Atlanta, and LA) will be befuddled. They will be drinking from a cup of drunkenness and continue drinking from it not having any clue about what is going on.
For example, you might see the other super powers like China threatening Taiwan and even laying the ground work for an invasion by first attacking with a bioweapon, followed up by stealing the election and installing their puppet, and then we would see a rapid increase in cyber attacks. I doubt we would see Russia befuddled so they would probably make a move on the Ukraine. Likewise Iran might see this as an opportunity as well to test out ICBMs and manufacture enough nuclear material for a bomb. If you were going to attack the US you would want "shock and awe". You want to be lightening fast on multiple fronts. Still I think they would want to lay the ground work by burning down 97 food processing plants, causing supply chain issues, massive inflation, cause the price of gas to double, and crash the stock market. Taiwan is absolutely critical to Asia, the Pacific and to micro chips. Without a supply of microchips US industry and defense would be crippled. The Ukraine is critical to the peace and security of Europe and Israel is essential to the peace and security of the Middle East. Cutting off the oil from the Middle East would cripple our allies, particularly Europe, and seizing the Ukraine would threaten Europe as well. Not only so but before D Day we had soldiers infiltrate Normandy either paratroopers or those in the underground in France. They were there to make sure once the attack started they would cut communications, blow up bridges, and in many ways make it difficult to reenforce the Normandy beaches. Using that as an analogy consider the D day size invasions of the US (156,000 soldiers) coming across our Southern border every month since Biden became President. So far we have had over 2 million come in illegally (that we know of). How many of them are agents designed to cause bedlam when the attack takes place?
What we will be able to see prior to that is Washington drinking from this cup of trembling. Maybe with a show trial. Perhaps we see the Chinese in all of our universities and influencing our scientists and politicians with joint projects and grants. Perhaps you will see politicians trying to distract from the threat of China and focus on some trivial threat like "white supremacists" or some other ridiculous boogey man like the parents of elementary school kids. You can be sure that some of our key politicians will have multi million dollar dealings with the Chinese like Hunter Biden does, or Kerry and Clinton do. You will also discover that some politicians have been involved with Chinese spies, probably the pretty honey trap ones like Fang Fang and Swalwell, and yet it doesn't hurt their career, if anything it helped. Then others like Pelosi and Feinstein will be invested in stealing elections using voting machines. This isn't a conspiracy theory, it may be a conspiracy, but there is no theory here, all of this has already been put out in the open. These drunks are so befuddled they don't realize the whole world sees their shame. They might threaten insurrection over some Supreme court ruling, they might double their own security while ignoring the security of Supreme court justices who don't vote the way they want. Maybe in their desperation they would do some false flag event at an elementary school in a last ditch attempt to seize the guns of Americans.
Anyway, when you see these things happen know that the day of the Lord is here, the Jerusalem "count down clock" is about to hit 0.
