Well - if all that happened then I don't think it worked all that well. The 60's were the most turbulent and violent times n American history since the Civil War. Honestly, the National Guard was opening fire on students at college! Three assassinations of the most important leaders of the decade occured. War broke out in Watts in LA and Harlem in NYC. Major revolts at the democrat national convention and colleges everywhere.
