This would hold substance if you could prove that the chain of events of war events between Russia and Ukraine wasn't fixed between the two side to begin with.
You being ex military should realise more than anyone else how soilders are made to feel indespensable, so are your sure that you where never used as a war game between the two leaders in any active duty you served.
Many wars are now thought of as absolutely not necessary.
Like no evidence was ever found showing Saddam Hussein was producing weapons of mass destruction.
The Falklands war by even the UK forces ex soliders think the war was not necessary.
Vietnam war thought to be a waste of time.
Afghanistan same
ukraine and Russia have been playing war games for decades man.
Israel and the so called rightful heirs of there land the Palestinians
Wargames for decades.
Terrorist organisations forcing there way into power through war.
Ira terrorist soldiers in Ireland
both now seen as legitimate soldiers of war.
or are they all striking deals with the existing terrorists of our world, the world leaders.
Most servicemen returning from war have a degree of bitterness. And hindsight is a wonderful gift. It allows people to be right long after the events are over. The Falklands war was entirely justified. Ask the Falklanders. The treatment of some of the service personnel was not, especially the investigation into the Sheffield sinking.
My dad was in the Royal Navy and went to Korea. I'm sure the South Koreans are happy about the intervention of the UN forces. How about Malaya, as it was known then? The British and Australians put an end to the communist insurgency. The US could have learned something from them. Vietnam was a catastrophe for a number of reasons, mostly to do with American arrogance and stupidity.
Australia condemned the people of East Timor to the brutality of Indonesian occupation. Politics overruled morality and justice. I'd just finished my time in the Navy when that miserable affair took place.
Rewriting history is a favoured pastime of the woke and progressive. George Orwell saw this coming.
Ukraine was illegally and immorally invaded by Russia, who has a history going back to the break up of the Soviet Union. The world did nothing to stop Russia in 2014. Russia rightly saw this as weakness. What they did not forsee, or at least failed to tell Putin, was that Ukraine would not be bullied further.
If the peace loving nations are not prepared to resist the warmongers, they too will be overcome. Even now, Germany is loathe to protect itself. It wants others to do the hard work. Appeasement has never worked. Dictators see it as weakness, a green light to attack those unprepared to defend themselves. If the UK had not entered WW2 (it did not have to), all of Europe would have been under the control of Hitler. He could also have taken out much of Russia, as his forces would have had the logistics to do so. If the British had been forced out of Africa, Hitler's oil supply would have been assured. Britain may have been spared the horrors of war, but the "peace" would have been a sham. As an aside, I could well have not been born courtesy of Hitler. My mother lived not far from where a V2 rocket exploded.
"No such thing as a good war or a bad peace". I happen to disagree. There is peace in the cemetary. Ask the Poles what "peace" was like under German occupation, or Belgium, Denmark, France and Holland. Do you imagine that Christians would be tolerated by the Nazi regime? I'm not a warmonger, but if someone like Russia or China wants to take on the world, they must be resisted. I'm too old to learn Mandarin.
