I have no doubt that Governor Cuomo feels bad,wish he would have done more. How about your boy Trump. The term 'conspiracy theorist' is sometimes used in a derogatory way, equating those who are labeled as such to tinfoil hat wearing nuts.
Rather than just simply being a theorist who comes up with theories, like any other theorist, the word conspiracy is annotated to it so imply a state of paranoia and distrust.
In pop culture the conspiracy theorist is usually an outcast in the family, overweight, erratic, living with his parents, unsuccessful, undatable. And never dominant, articulate, well-versed, cool, calm, collected, wealthy, attractive. Many movies and tv shows with a conspiracy theorist in it fits this stereotype in order to establish a stereotype in the public eye
