What do you think? Is it a normal 24 hours a day or the days means a long period of time or age.
What does God says?

No one knows for sure. Some people say they know. But it's not said clearly. Plenty of talk about this in the BDF as well.

Genesis 1:

[SUP]1[/SUP] In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. [SUP]2[/SUP] And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. [SUP]3[/SUP] And God said, Let there be light: and there was light. [SUP]4[/SUP] And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness. [SUP]5[/SUP] And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night.
And the evening and the morning were the first day. [SUP]6[/SUP] And God said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters. [SUP]7[/SUP] And God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament: and it was so. [SUP]8[/SUP] And God called the firmament Heaven. And the evening and the morning were the second day. [SUP]9[/SUP] And God said, Let the waters under the heaven be gathered together unto one place, and let the dry land appear: and it was so. [SUP]10[/SUP] And God called the dry land Earth; and the gathering together of the waters called he Seas: and God saw that it was good. [SUP]11[/SUP] And God said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the earth: and it was so. [SUP]12[/SUP] And the earth brought forth grass, and herb yielding seed after his kind, and the tree yielding fruit, whose seed was in itself, after his kind: and God saw that it was good. [SUP]13[/SUP] And the evening and the morning were the third day. [SUP]14[/SUP] And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years: [SUP]15[/SUP] And let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth: and it was so. [SUP]16[/SUP] And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also. [SUP]17[/SUP] And God set them in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth, [SUP]18[/SUP] And to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness: and God saw that it was good. [SUP]19[/SUP] And the evening and the morning were the fourth day. [SUP]20[/SUP] And God said, Let the waters bring forth abundantly the moving creature that hath life, and fowl that may fly above the earth in the open firmament of heaven. [SUP]21[/SUP] And God created great whales, and every living creature that moveth, which the waters brought forth abundantly, after their kind, and every winged fowl after his kind: and God saw that it was good. [SUP]22[/SUP] And God blessed them, saying, Be fruitful, and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let fowl multiply in the earth. [SUP]23[/SUP] And the evening and the morning were the fifth day. [SUP]24[/SUP] And God said, Let the earth bring forth the living creature after his kind, cattle, and creeping thing, and beast of the earth after his kind: and it was so. [SUP]25[/SUP] And God made the beast of the earth after his kind, and cattle after their kind, and every thing that creepeth upon the earth after his kind: and God saw that it was good. [SUP]26[/SUP] And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. [SUP]27[/SUP] So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. [SUP]28[/SUP] And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth. [SUP]29[/SUP] And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat. [SUP]30[/SUP] And to every beast of the earth, and to every fowl of the air, and to every thing that creepeth upon the earth, wherein there is life, I have given every green herb for meat: and it was so. [SUP]31[/SUP] And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day.

Sounds pretty clear to me...

Explain how an 'age' has an evening and a morning...?

Good evening Ugly,

So, let me ask the question: What would cause people to not believe that the evening and the daylight represented a literal 24 hour day? The day always begins at sunset and ends at sunset. Jesus told us that a day was 12 hours long and therefore 12 hours of night equaling 24 hours:

"Jesus answered, "Are there not twelve hours in the day? If anyone walks in the day, he does not stumble, because he sees the light of this world."

Regarding this, we have a genealogy in scripture that takes us from Jesus to Abraham to Adam. Adam was created on the 6th day. If anyone wanted to claim that the six days of creation were millions of years long, then we would have a problem because they would be mixing regular 24 hour days with the so-called millions of years equaling one day scenario, as Adam's creation was apart of the six days of creation which is used in Christ's genealogy. By looking for another explanation other than a literal 24 hour day, the person who does so would seem to have an issue regarding God's power and ability to speak something into existence by His word or by His will.

Yeah, no interest in getting sucked into any more of BDF debates. I have my opinion, you have yours. The end. I'm sure i could find more interesting and useful things to do than argue over non-essentials issues.

No problem. Just making a scriptural point.

Like this

Matthew 19:26 But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.

Context determines meaning. I believe that the Bible teaches a Creation Week of 6x24-hour-ish days and one 24-hour-ish day of rest. Whether people choose to believe God's Word as to what it plainly says or not, well, that's up to them.

Yes, but that's what everyone in the BDF says, yet it has a reputation for being the worst area of the site.

Exactly! The burden of proof would be on anyone who would be claiming that a day was an age and that because the scripture says "the evening and morning" represented a day. Therefore, those who claim this would be forced to change evening and morning to something other than the 24 hour period, which Jesus also verified.

Is anything too difficult for the Lord?

that's 24/6 creation and a day of rest.

Thanks
