We were put to jail for a week for violating the Article 133 of Rev. penal code - Offending Religious Feelings. Oh! It was a traumatic experience for us. We dont expect that there was a law like that! That Law was a 1943..:) so I really do not know that it exist. But the Roman Catholic Church use that Law during the time when Pope Francis visited last 2 weeks ago.. This what happened. Every where the Pope goes to..(while he was here in the Philippines for few days)..the catholics go crazy..it seems worshiping him and calling him holy father...the Jesus of the present world.. so our group went out and share the gospel by giving out gospel tracts and wear signs like "Only Jesus can save you from sin and hell", we also put the Rom. 6:23 on a tarpulin, and the 2nd commandment verses..Oh..the police got mad and they locked us up..

I agree and to top it off, I also have a language barrier. I need to find other protestant believers.

I grew up as a Catholic, but like most Filipinos, it was just a cultural thing and nothing serious. When my parents found out that I became a Christian (a day I'll never forget), there was suddenly an uncomfortable feeling in the air. My mom had a look on her face, and my dad although trying to be cool about it, was obviously somehow hurting inside. As days went by, my dad would ask me questions about my faith condescendingly. Like, he would ask why we don't recognise saints, or follow the pope etc. in a condescending tone as if he's trying to basically say that the Christian faith is wrong.

Some of my family members and friends have already started "falling out" of my life because they just don't seem to feel comfortable with me anymore. After all, didn't Jesus say that this was bound to happen?

Basically, the only struggle you'll have as a Filipino Christian will be from your non-Christian friends and family, especially if you're outnumbered in your circle. (At least that's what I've only experienced SO FAR) It's very hard, but I know that it's worth it.

i used to be a catholic before, since childhood, when i was in college, my aunt became a born again Christian, and when i was in 3rd year college, someone shared to me the gospel.i knew the truth and my parents and other aunts noticed that i wont do the sign of the cross anymore and had many excuses not going to sunday masses.then they've learned that im attending a Christian church already, they let me choose whether i go on with what they call insanity and stop going to school (they wont give me school allowance anymore) or go back to the catholic faith. whenever i use the phone, they would say are u again reading the bible.they think i was crazy.. they said every i did was foolishness, i was born and raised as a catholic they said, and so they persecuted me for turning back from the catholic faith.

at first my friends also are not okay with my new faith. they would go to mass and then i was left alone.but its ok for me.. i was forced to attend recollection for grade's sake and attend the mass during our graduation so my mother wont get extremely angry at me.

my relatives kept on asking why i turned back from the faith and am i not afraid of so doing..

but then God is always good. He helped me. my Christian aunt supported my school fees and slowly my family accepted the changes in me. I am now serving Christ. As long as you know the truth and you've been set free, no one and nothing can stop you :)

there is not a country or a nation on earth that is "mostly christian", except deceptively, in name only.

JESUS never advocated catholicism. You've realized that, but the generations behind you haven't. Until they physically die, that mindset will always exist. Same thing for jehovah witnesses, scientologists, adventists and any other 'man made" denomination. It boils down to 2 kinds of churches: the Happy/Clappy & the Frozen/Chosen, based purely on how the congregation chooses to openly worship during the services.

and on that sad note, I will have to agree.
