I'm NOT saying that Christian women or women in general shouldn't be treated nicely but just that they shouldn't use the word "deserve." Also, I know God wants us to treat each other nicely but that doesn't mean we deserve it.

We always hear women(in general) say that they "deserve" to be treated a certain(nice) way. And what I'm about to say is something only Christians can understand and if your not Christian then you have no right to say anything because you don't understand.... So here I go...

Women don't deserve anything, we're all sinners and what women deserve is actually hell. We know this as Christians. We know that mankind, both men and women deserve hell cause of the evil we are all guilty of. (Also, as Christians we know that we received forgiveness of this fault through Jesus Christ and thus Christians go to heaven not because we deserve it but because God loved us enough to die for us to pay for our crimes). So, why are women saying that they "deserve" to be treated nicely? That word tells us that women are entitled to be treated nicely... just because they were born. (That's clearly the context it's said in) I think pride is the reason why they use that word. And as we Christians know we're all born into sin. <---- please don't nitpick on that, just agree with me that we're not perfect and eventually sin someday.

Note: There is one circumstance where there's an exception. And I'm not sure if that's the only exception but it's honor your father and mother. I also remember scripture that says to give honor where honor is due. So, only a mother deserves to be treated a certain(with honor) way... and to make it more accurate... I think it's ACCORDING to how much honor she actually deserves. (due)

Romans 13:7
[SUP]
7 [/SUP]Render therefore to all their due: taxes to whom taxes are due, customs to whom customs, fear to whom fear, honor to whom honor.

So, I think the solution is simple. I think Christian women should just stop saying the word "deserve" anymore. And I imagine most of you would agree with this... there's no argument here and if you want to argue... I won't argue much because of how clear and true this is. Unless... there's some point of truth (non-argument point) that I completely missed. I'll be happy to say to accept my mistake.

It's not just that word... re-reading through my thread....

No, the problem isn't that word. It's pride... pride... pride... pride... pride.... pride! That's the real problem

PRIDE IS THE REAL PROBLEM

So, if Christian women were more humble... they wouldn't use that word out of I guess "instinct" if that makes sense.

I did make posts and 2 threads so far on faults of women... I guess? Hey... at-least you know I care... I wouldn't post about people (women) or topics I don't care about. :D

I think the deserve mentality has come from a long history of women being oppressed, physically, sexually, emotionally abused, etc. Whether it has been taken too far by the feminist movement, i guess we all can have our opinions. I do know that If a woman who was being abused came to me for help, I would indeed say, 'you deserve to be treated better', and assist her if I could out of that situation.

Again, I'm not going to argue much... please please remember basic Christian teachings. The bottom-line is we all deserve hell and the abuse and bad things that happen to us here on earth. Is actually paradise.... we are living in grace and in paradise into comparison to what we really deserve (hell).

From that we can say wow... life is great and God is so merciful. I'll leave it at that, won't say much more to you. Please think carefully about it. I don't think I shared my opinion. I think this comes from God's word. I didn't make this. I think I just noticed this.... most of what I posted are things you and I already know. If you are a Christian.

You already know the faults. The faults are sins. We're all just sinful so Christians, Christian women specifically, know better than saying they "deserve" to be treated nicely. The real problem is pride though.

I think we should be humble in asking for love... or nice things... like a husband that will love like Christ. It's a humble request. Men like-wise should ask humbly for a wife that will treat him nicely too.

The nice things in life are very special because we don't deserve it. But, we get them and if we want more ... it's a humble request to God, not something we're entitled to or "deserve." Like the world is constantly saying... you deserve to be happy.

I want to add more. I can be blunt and untactful.

I think what you would say, would be incorrect and misleading. Sure, it sounds sweet to say it but it's untruthful because people deserve worse... I know that might be a tough pill to swallow. But, I'm not trying to be mean. I sympathize and it's sad that bad things happen.

I think it would be better to say that... "That shouldn't have happened to you because that was sin" It's something touchy. I know but we gotta be careful with our minds... or we'll think we really do deserve better.

Buff, maybe I'm the oddball here, but I honesty can't say I know, nor am I friends with any Christian women who talk about all the things they "deserve".

As Arwen said, in my own personal circle, the only time I hear that word being said is when the woman in question comes to you with a black eye, sobbing about how "he didn't really mean it." THEN, YES, YOU TELL HER SHE DESERVES MUCH, MUCH BETTER. At least, I do.

I'm not sure how it is that you're having all these encounters with women who think they are owed so much, and apparently in Christian circles? I know you talked about having to "dress down" to not attract certain attention from women and I admire that. I just wonder how it is that you're attracting so many women who think they need to have the world served to them on a platter, because if anything, my experience with Christian women is that they give so much of themselves, they forget to even think of their own well-being and often wind up worn down and needing someone to tell them, "HEY!! You need to take care of you, too!!"

I'm not being critical. I'm sorry if you've only run into materialistic women, and my hope for you is that you'll be led to other circumstances/groups where you can meet the genuine ladies out there who feel the only thing they deserve is the awesome privilege to serve other people out of God's love.

God bless and best wishes.

I believe Mary the mother of Jesus was blessed among women before she became a mother and her cousin Elizabeth the mother of John the Baptist. Both believed the Angel's report without doubting. These are two additional instances where women were "deserving" because God ordained it to be.

It is prevalent in western culture; especially, the United States. The "deserve" mind-set that Buff refers is carried over into the "church culture" from the secular culture.

Please correct me Buff if my understanding is "off-base".

I think men should keep their mouths shut on issues regarding women. Men aren't women, they never were women (in most cases), they will never be women (hopefully). So shut up about what you don't understand...especially if you're single.

You are completely and utterly wrong in literally ALMOST every thing you said just now......

I'm not sure how to go about this...

From the beginning (sigh)

I suppose I could've been more specific about whether it's all Christian women or some Christian women that say the word "deserve"... but at the same time I think it's common knowledge and obvious that... I didn't mean to say all Christian women. That's just silly and suspicious of you. Are you nitpicking on purpose?

Arwen doesn't understand. I know it's a tough pill to swallow but men and women actually deserve worse than the abuse we get here on earth. I'm NOT saying that the bad things should happen. But, that we actually deserve worse. There's a big difference between those two... and if your confused or think it's a contradiction... then you don't understand the core knowledge of where I'm coming from.

And no, I didn't say we having to dress down. I advised it. I recommended it. That's a huge difference. You misunderstood me. And I based what I was saying on judgement of appearances... that people shouldn't judge what is worn but the heart which I think is God's will.

And about the women I meet... who are so "bad"... that's a story you made up out of false assumptions. Like, I said before... I didn't say all women are like that and I assumed everyone would know better...would know enough to realize I meant women that say the word "deserve."

In your last paragraph, nope... even serving God. I think is a gift from God. It's a privilege we don't deserve.

This has been my experience as well. There is a reason that you will find many christians among nurses and teachers. In bringing us closer to conforming to God's image, service follows closely after love.

I believe that what this thread points out is akin to the women's right to vote movement, feminist movement of the 1920's that during this era Christian Women supported in the United States and continues until today. To say that all women in Christianity globally has this mind-set is inaccurate. Within the Continental United States, yes, globally, no.

Concerning Christ, all unmarried Christians are to submit to the will of Jesus. He is the head of the Church and all our affections should be directed at submitting to Him and He alone. In Christ there is neither male or female. We are all equal in Christ. The Word of God is very clear concerning how our secular [occupying until He comes] living and relationships to one another should be carried out; i.e., love one another as He loves us. We all deserve (female and male) whatever the Lord's Word commands. Jesus levels the playing field for all Christians without respect of person.

Let me just give you one final thing... it might help.

Think about Jesus... and the abuse he got?

We can say.. Jesus you didn't deserve that. And we would be correct. He didn't deserve his abuse because he was Holy and good but he took it because that's how much God loves us.

Think about a Woman... who got beaten up

And we say... Woman you didn't deserve that. Is woman holy and good that she deserves perfect treatment based on being born a woman? So, while this woman shouldn't have been beaten up because sin shouldn't happen... it would be misleading to use the word "deserve" because she actually deserves worse. Mankind deserves worse... the word "deserves" means your entitled.
