Just something I've always wondered. I can imagine Jesus sitting down with his apostles and having a laugh but I can't see any of them being super random. Maybe we just have more time on our hands now, or say what we're thinking.

Thoughts?

I think randomness was always around. But you're probably right, the pace of randomness has exploded by the time television, and especially the internet came around. It makes lacking focus incredibly convenient, and it desensitizes us to the slow pace of randomness originally intended by nature. :p Now days especially, everything is just one big competition to feel noticed in this crazy, connected, and overpopulated world.

It's quite a ride I must say though.

I was gonna say something about how if they weren't as random back then as we are now, they SHOULD have been to alleviate the boredom...and then I was going to say something else about MAN, they really HAD to have been very bored in those days, poor souls.

Then I realize, what the heck are we, right now, sitting on our behinds staring at screens?

Then I also realized it's way past my bedtime.

That was so random :D

That was so random :D

It would have been even more random if instead of replying, I had just posted a picture of a lobster. :p

I don't like lobster.

Ew.

Yeah I've always had a random brain. I describe myself as ADD (like ADHD without the H). I was random back before the internet existed. But I used it on fuller and more involved creative outlets instead of short bursts of random.

I think of the modern randomness "trend" almost as a lazy version of creativity. It's super convenient to post a premature baby thought on some social media place or a blog or forum in the form of a stupid meme or a funny thought or comment before it's even hatched into a full idea you can use for something else. So it never gets to be a full grown idea. Instead you get all these billions of mini ideas being shared between lots and lots of friends just to kill time. You even see hints of this type of humor on TV now. Everything is so fast-paced you don't even have time to think.

I do think some of my internet habits have made my creativity lazier. I have no one to blame for that but myself really. :p

Silly, rel, yous haves such a beautiful mind (don't ever forget, God made you perfect just the way you are, Billy Joel made a lot of mistakes but that song is a good one to turn to a Chrisitian theme :) ) , maybe, your beautiful mind, hmm, even , like 'that' movie, I don't need to 'crow' about it to you now, do I , milady ?

Yeah, I think, it's pretty fair to say, I'm not too bad at random either, it's a part of me, LOL, ima not bein too humble now, am I? Not that bein random is an entirely good thing, the green brains shoot off in so many directions sometimes I think its like watching fireworks for some folks but without the flashes of brilliance in the sky, they only go off in their....

.....mind . Beautiful, huh :D

<zips through the room>
Coming through... coming through... excuse me... coming through...
<grabs the remote and flips on the TV>

I thought finding a random way to tell my thoughts on this might be appropriate. :p

You always come up with interesting thoughts TinTin. If I didn't think I'd possibly dislocate my shoulder & then break a kneecap on the way back down I'd ^5 you! lol (I'm only a shrimpy 5-9)
I'm sure man has always been this way,I mean it's through the bible in places not to be idle & so many warnings of us needing to be vigilant & sober. We just have more creative vile ways to fill that randomness now I suppose.

Actually, I was just thinking about this the other day. Way back when, people hunted and gathered and basically went out for their own food. I'd bet that most of their day was filled with just doing things to survive, like getting food, making clothing, fixing their shelters, etc. I can't imagine actually having to hunt down my food, clean it, cut it up, cook it, use the leftovers to make clothing and shelter...I don't know, my point is that they probably didn't get bored that often, at least not in the era where they had to do all that just to live.

So, I guess in relation to the OP, we actually have more time to be random, now. Back then it probably would have been considered really random, to just up and do something. Nowadays, it's so common that it's more the norm than being random.

Hopefully that all made sense. :)
