Fnd it strange how this is meant to be a site to bring chrisitians together... yet I have tried making friends on here and people just avoid me....
 
try the chat room hun, you will find friends here, just be open with people, takes time to get to know people.
 
u have lots of people on ur friend list, so im sure u dont have a problem in having a friendly chat with people. im sure people are not avioding u on purpose.
 
It is a site for that purpose, and perhaps then some. People have a tendency to form cliques, but that's a social norm in general.

Still, sad to see this. Praying that you feel more welcomed in due time, if you continue to frequent the site. :)
 
It always seems that way. I feel exactly as you do. Eventually I figured it out.

God gave everyone different gifts. Then He told us to "fill the earth", so we are all standing in a different place. The more interests that you try to match with a person you find, the farther you have to look to find them.

Go to the member search screen, and use advanced search, and see just how many of CC's over 50,000 members have posted more than 1000 times (123 as of this moment), or even a hundred times (667). Internet looks so big, yet the number of people actually connecting around Chrisitanity is quite a bit smaller than you might suspect. I grew up in a rather large city (Chicago) and I was in churches of over 1000 people. I doubt in my 22 years I lived there, I spoke to 600 people a hundred times each, or to 123 people a thousand times each, and that includes all my 20 or so K-12 school teachers, bosses at jobs, friends, classmates, and my parents and brother. Internet encourages us to expect more from social contact, than we are actually used to having, probably even capable of handling, and certainly more contact than anyone had in the days before internet was invented.

What's worse, is that every time someone concludes that these higher expections not being fulfilled is "wrong" somehow, they run the risk of withdrawing from society. Then they become one less person to be part of the group we all wish to contact, and we all get a little more isolated. I know for a fact (because I think in numbers like this), I have never, even in all my years of even full time ministry, had as much meaningful Christian interaction, by any measure or count I care to make, as I have had in the past 8 months of being in CC, only excepting the nearly 24/7 Godly contact with my wife for the time she was alive.

CC is far better than just about any other option, except the intimacy of marriage. You just have to accept the reality that you will always feel like you want more.

You only have 81 posts in the entire year you've been here. If you want to make friends here you're gonna have to start posting a lot more than that.

How do you approach people? By messaging them outta the blue?
Just curious. I've befriended a lot of people over the internet in my day, and I find much more success in chat rooms, personally. You will probably have even more luck if you try to connect out in the open in main chat first and not personal message someone right away. Let the conversation flow naturally.

You can't install Flash to iOS nor to Android. Adobe does not develop for either one anymore. But there are workarounds.

You say that in a way that makes it sound unproductive, maybe even socially unacceptable? I am asking a serious question here, do you believe it is? I have never not responded to any pm from anyone at CC (except one spam asking for money from a banned member), and I have always pm'ed anyone who asked me to friend them and invited them to correspond. Again, seriously, internet is new and we are all learning, do you (and/or anyone else reading this) consider such strategies inappropriate?

Oh no I didn't mean that.
I was just curious how he was attempting to make friends, because if he answers yes that he messaged them personally and they didn't respond, then I can more easily understand how the OP feels like people are avoiding him. Just trying to help solve the puzzle.

I don't mind getting random messages. I try to respond at least once or twice to the person. I'm not as social online as I used to be though... so my PM conversations tend to fizzle out after a few exchanges.

i met a lot of people in the miscellaneous threads , have faith that it will happen. hang in there

Seriously Malcyboy, you have to be more active on the boards if you want to get to know people. I didn't even get a Hi for three or so days, when I introduced myself on CC. That discouraged me a little but I remained and I've really been blessed as a result. There are a lot of great people here (and some dodgy ones) but you have to take the initiative if you wish to feel you're part of the community.

For what it's worth, hi. It's good to meet you.
