I am not advocating the Amish "Church" and their practices or rules, however, I found the Lapp family and their values to be truly refreshing and what I believe to be very righteous and worthy of consideration.

I highly recommend devoting 60 minutes of your time to view, what I believe to be, the life the Father intended for all of us.

I spent many years in SE Pennsylvania, and thus know a lot about them. Some of their theology is a little off to one side, but you cannot criticize their sincerity or success at establishing real committed Christian Community, by the definitions they give it.

In all honesty, it's very hard for me to separate the negative things about the Amish from the positive things. =/

I know they have some good values and morals, but they have some really dark secrets too. Hard for me to get around that.

I have seen the video already. I must say, I admire the Amish/Mennonite strong family values.
 
The only gripe I have ever had with the Amish is the whole puppy mill stuff..they seem to be big on breeding dogs & mistreating them. I don't know if "all" Amish do this,but it's huge in PA.

My question is about Matthew 28:19-20 Why dont we see Amish people out witnessing to others ? Gods word say to make desciples of all nations yet you Amish people seem to be totall confined to your home living lifestyle

The best witness we can be for the Lord is to love the Lord with all our heart, mind, and soul and others as ourselves. It beats all bible thumping.

Why can't we form a community to primarily show the world how life in Christ is lived and lived well.

Actually there is a community of Christians--those who are members of a church. They can be compared to those who frequent bars.

It seems to me that our churches have changed in the last 50 or so years. The doctrine that says the Lord cancelled the law, that the media is so prevalent in teaching morals, and the idea that tolerance is much more important than Godliness has affected our churches negatively. I must say, however, even these ideas are better than the fire and brimstone ideas that preceded these.
 
amish dont live outside pennsylvania as their buggies dont go that far.
so I havent met one.

Interesting lifestyle though.

we has some christian sects called 'the exclusive brethren' in nz but they were so exclusive that nobody elese was allowed to join them.
