The Sheep and the Goats

Romans 3:20
Therefore no one will be declared righteous in God's sight by the works of the law; rather, through the law we become conscious of our sin.
So then just sit there, Temple-C, with your "faith alone", twisting scripture, doing nothing, and mocking a man of God who encourages all to do good.

“The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’ “Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels.
For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me.’

“They also will answer, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?’

“He will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.’
“Then they will go away to eternal punishment..."

We need to re read post 8 & post 12.
We are to follow our Lord, in all ways....so that means, being gentle and wise. Not agreeing with another mans theology is not excuse for being unkind. Or for leaping to unpleasant accusations. I do not think any human being should be subject to abuse for their beliefs. Let alone in CC.
I do not subscribe to catholic theology but I am also able to see, they do stand and are not so open to compromise. I admire that :) Also, what is being said here....what I read is that people who do good, draw themselves closer to God ( from where all good things come) and therefore are maybe more open to hearing God, being exposed to His truth, enabling God to develop their faith....and therefore seeking the Truth.
I do not think this is such a terrible thing to say at all!
God Bless, <><

Good work, thanks for having the guts through JESUS to stand up against this anti - christ. AMEN
Yeh coz segregating yourselves from the rest of the world and telling them that you're righteous and they're nothing is REALLY going to draw them closer to the love of God Almighty, isn't it!! Great work. You really nailed it there champ lol LOVE LOVE LOVE PEOPLE!!! SHOW LOVE!!! Why would anybody join a family that doesn't welcome them? Pope Francis is most obviously guided by the Holy Spirit. God bless you all.

well i'm not looking for what a pope or general council or what a theologian say's. but what does God say, that's what I want to know. We can all find it in his word and not some political figure. Well i'm using strong verbiage, sorry. On the other hand the pope is not as politically strong as he used to be, but does have weight with some ignorant people. I say ignorance not as stupid, but lead astray.

Hi people. Don't buy into the secular media's take on this.

Pope Francis is not saying, as the secular media would have you think, that an atheist is saved even though they reject God. He is saying that through doing good works then we all come to a greater understanding of God, be they atheists or believers, which in turn leads them to God and to know and accept Christ's salvation. He is saying that in doing good then we can all find a common ground. That 'good works' are a great place to start for humanity in putting away those petty arguments and divisions which have given rise to so much conflict between believers and non-believers alike throughout history.

"Even them, everyone, we all have the duty to do good." Pope Francis said.
"Just do good" was his challenge, "and we'll find a meeting point."

He said that Christ gave himself as a ransom for ALL, and that by doing good then a person is moving towards God, and that we should not cut people off just because they are not 'one of us'.

"..the man Christ Jesus, who gave himself as a ransom for ALL people."
1 Timothy 2:5-6

Christ died for all, and Christ is there for everyone to accept as Lord. Good works leads one on that path.

Here is a good article about the Pope's homily. Do read it - Pope Francis says atheists....

God bless,

Maynard
Do you mind giving a specific reference that this is his position.

2nd Corinthians 6, verses 14 through 17- wherefore COME OUT FROM AMONG THEM and be ye separate saith the LORD, and touch not the unclean thing and I will receive you and I will be your Father and ye shall be my sons and daughters saith the Lord GOD Almighty - I love you enough to tell you the truth - Galations 4 verse 16, Am I therefore become your enemy because I tell you the truth? The pope is an anti - christ, and is lead of Satan, a jesuit ( Go read the extreme oath of the jesuits ) and not at all christian. The Lord Jesus said that you will know them by their fruits ( MATT 7 vrse 16 - 18 ) and the Mother of Harlots produces ONLY WICKED ROTTEN FRUIT. Chistians cannot yoke up with Legions of pedophile priests, and the saint who started this thread is exposing the un - fruitful works of darkness ( EPH 5 vrse 11 ). Oh and I will choose to call you friend, not champ ( Jesus called Judas Iscariot friend ) MALACHI 2 verse 17 - Ye have wearied the LORD with your words. Yet ye say, Wherin have we wearied Him? When ye say, Every one that doeth evil is good in the sight of the LORD, and delighteth in them - You weary the LORD when you call an anti - christ pope good. Come out of Rome friend. The Lord Jesus Christ bless you and save you.

Its funny how anytime a Christian tries to do right they are self righteous. When nowhere did they say they were perfect. Personally I believe Christians shouldn't argue about Gods word.

My niece posted this about the Pope on Facebook, and while I didn't read the whole thing or hear about prior, I did post that Yes, we are all redeemed if we ask to be redeemed. We don't have to earn it, or work for it or be worthy of it, we simply have to ask and believe. But we do have to ask for it and believe it.

I haven't seen her response to my response. I will say she is a very very intelligent person and was raised in a Baptist church, Christian family but I don't know her personal faith or beliefs.

There is just no other way to God but through Jesus Christ...period.
Joh 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

Seems pretty anti - God to say that you don't even have to believe in God to go to heaven. Yeah, I'm calling major BS on that one.
I believe it. God is Love, love doesn't hate.

Jesus has indeed redeemed all humanity. The issue is you have to accept HIM in order to recieve that redemption! He is available to ALL, but that doesn't mean ALL will accept Him.

according to a report from Vatican Radio.....

Pope Francis rocked some religious and atheist minds today when he declared that everyone was redeemed through Jesus, including atheists. During his homily at Wednesday Mass in Rome, Francis emphasized the importance of “doing good” as a principle that unites all humanity, and a
“culture of encounter”to support peace. Using scripture from the Gospel of Mark, Pope Francis explained how upset Jesus’ disciples were that someone outside their group was doing good, according to a report from Vatican Radio. “They complain,” the Pope said in his homily, because they say, “If he is not one of us, he cannot do good. If he is not of our party, he cannot do good.” And Jesus corrects them: “Do not hinder him, he says, let him do good.”

see rest of report here

See how the Pope has twisted Scripture...it appears this is the part that he has based his story on....

Mar 9:38 Now John answered Him, saying, "Teacher, we saw someone who does not follow us casting out demons in Your name, and we forbade him because he does not follow us."
Mar 9:39 But Jesus said, "Do not forbid him, for no one who works a miracle in My name can soon afterward speak evil of Me.
Mar 9:40 For he who is not against us is on our side.

Interesting to see comments from Catholics what they have to say to this.

I highly doubt the pope said atheists are saved. Please post a reputable source so we can verify this.

Jesus has indeed redeemed all humanity. The issue is you have to accept HIM in order to recieve that redemption! He is available to ALL, but that doesn't mean ALL will accept Him.
But going by what alot of these others are saying on this thread, if we separate ourselves from everyone else, how will that give us the chance to expose them to Him so that they HAVE the chance to accept and receive Him? I can really see Satan working here sometimes trying to drive people away from the Catholic Church who is trying to draw as many people around the world closer to God. I don't understand why people aren't seeing this!! Pope Francis is again SO OBVIOUSLY encouraging believers and non-believers alike all around the world to do good, drawing closer to God at the same time. Are you all saying that we shouldn't be encouraging people to draw closer together in good works? REALLY? Ok then, the only other alternative (which must be the side your taking) is to allow more separation in the world and just hope for the best, because if we go out and show others good deeds, according to you it won't save us anyway so according to you we shouldn't waste our time. So we will just ignore the fact that Christ told us to spread the Good Word to the WORLD (which means everybody) and just pray that a bible just falls into the laps of all unbelievers! C'mon guys, get serious. Pope Francis did an awesome thing here. HE IS TRYING TO BRING THE WORLD TOGETHER FOR CHRIST'S SAKE!!!!
And just because he is Catholic, you're mocking his efforts. I bet you wouldn't be doing that if he was Protestant. He's encouraging LOVE, not Satanism. Stop calling him the Anti-Christ lol really!
God bless.

Just a quick question to everybody That I have asked before on other threads and been ABSOLUTELY SHOCKED with the response of "Christians". What do you think happens to those tribes who live so far out in the wilderness that they have never seen another human and have therefore never been told about Christ? Don't tell me they don't exist, because they do. They exist here in Australia too......... the grass-people they're called. What do you believe happens to these people when they die? How will they be judged? Or will they be judged at all? Don't forget, they don't know Christ, so they don't believe in Him.

Psalms chapter 19:1-3 “The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands. Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they display knowledge. There is no speech or language where their voice is not heard.”

Romans 2:15 “The law is written on every man’s heart.”

Romans 1:18-20 “For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness, because that which is known about God is evident within them; for God made it evident to them. For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made, so that they are without excuse.”
