the bible says this about who runs the world...

psalm 47:8..."God reigns over the nations, God sits on His holy throne."

yet i have lost count of how many times a conspiracy theorist has implied the opposite...asserting that the nations answer to satan and his minions...or even openly said things to the effect of 'satan rules the world'...

so are we going to go with what the bible says...or the world according to 'pinky and the brain'?

Well that is a good question, are we going to go with what the bible says. Like most posts I've noticed on CC only certain verses offering validity to the posters argument are presented.

So what would you do with a verse like this in Matthew 4:8-9 " Again, the devil took him to a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their splendor. “All this I will give you,” he said, “if you will bow down and worship me.”

How is satan going to give to Jesus what God already owns? Wouldn't Jesus have simply pointed out that fact? Point the psalm out to him that you presented. Or perhaps even though god is sovereign and does own everything from a universal standpoint satan is currently the ''god of this world''.

Or
john 12:31 Now is the time for judgment on this world; now the prince of this world will be driven out.

Maybe this verse would give a better argument as to who owns what
2 Corinthians 4:4 The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel that displays the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.

There are actually people who think the Bible is a conspiracy.

I tend to think the people who think the Bible is a conspiracy are actually the ones who are in a conspiracy.

But there are many people who think like me, that the people who think the Bible is a conspiracy are actually the ones who are in a conspiracy, so I guess that actually means we're in a conspiracy too.

This is like playing chess on a board that doesn't have any edges.

And I know chess is a conspiracy, or why else would all the pawns die off so easy and get flicked off the board by intellectuals who never go outside to play baseball?

The above post is a good example of the kind of utter confusion surround these kinds of topics.

If you think my above post is confusing, then I've got something REALLY confusing for you.

Why is it that whenever someone notices serious corruption, real or imagined,
before that person can even finish speaking...
someone has already stamped a label on him so he'll be ridiculed, and nobody will listen.

Couldn't we just deal with issues, good or bad, by just looking at facts?
Just deal with the facts, and let the chips fall wherever?

Labeling people, ridiculing people, and using ad hominem attacks to deride and dismiss people has been around since the Old Testament. It's not new. Do we really need to keep doing this?

How about we deal with actual facts, on whatever issue we're discussing.
If people say something that sounds stupid, then debate the facts.
Facts.
After thousands of years we still deride people the same way?
Ya know, they did the same thing to Christ.
They labeled him, dismissed him, ridiculed him... instead of dealing with what he actually said.

This is a very old tactic to win an argument by subterfuge... essentially, by cheating.

If you think somebody is a raving loon, hey, maybe he is.
SO PROVE IT.
Have some backbone; lay out a logical argument.
Dig out your facts, have an honest debate.

I don't even care who is right, and who is wrong.
I don't care what theory is correct, and what is incorrect.
I would just like to see people, on both sides of an argument, act like they have a spine.

Alright, I'm done.
God Bless.

Well, I have to admit, I think most conspiracy theories are pure silliness that can get to the point, they border on madness. However, (lol), I also think the Bible says Satan is the prince of this world. At least right now. Right? Obviously Christ has not returned yet; and hence, His Kingdom has not yet come? So yeah, I fear Satan still holds huge power on this earth. But hey! His time is short! Yes? And He who is in us in greater than he who is in this world! :D

2 Corinthians 4:4 The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel that displays the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.

ok concerning these three verses...

on matthew 4:8-9...first of all it isn't wise to base a doctrine on something the bible quotes satan as having said...since satan is the father of lies after all... and yes jesus probably -could- have pointed out that the whole earth belongs to God...quoting psalm 47:8...or psalm 24:1 or exodus 9:29...and then argue that satan really had no right to offer him anything... but that wouldn't have been the best answer to satan's offer...because it wasn't a categorical rejection of satan's demand for worship...jesus would have left open the hypothetical possibility that he might have bowed to satan if satan's offer had been genuine... instead jesus' appeal to the commandment was the best possible answer...because it ruled out bowing to satan for any reason whatsoever...

on john 12:31...if you go back to the old testament...specifically the book of daniel...you will see what the biblical definition of a 'prince' in the spiritual realm is... a prince was a national spirit...something like a guardian angel or demon... the term doesn't actually involve authority or reign...as if the national governments answered to their prince... instead the role of the prince was to fight on behalf of his nation in the spiritual realm...so for satan to be called 'prince of this world' means that he and his forces contend on behalf of 'the world' in the spiritual realm...

finally on 2 corinthians 4:4...a 'god' is anything that people worship...the bible refers to the idols people worshipped as their 'gods'...even when they were nothing more than inanimate objects... now we know that inanimate objects don't have any authority...so this isn't a term that necessarily implies any kind of authority or reign... the 'god of this age' is just whatever the people of this age worship...that is what they put ahead of God or equal to God in importance in their lives... in the case of 2 corinthians 4:4 they are putting their satanic attitude of unbelief ahead of what God says in the gospel...

so there is really nothing in these three verses to contradict the plain meaning of psalm 47:8...God reigns over the nations...not satan...

Obviously Christ has not returned yet; and hence, His Kingdom has not yet come?
christ's kingdom is not an earthly reign...christ's kingdom is his reign in the hearts of his people...

so christ's kingdom has already come to us and it continues to come to new converts...

for an explanation of why there can still be evil in the world if christ's kingdom has come...see the parable of the wheat and tares...

Pointing out that Satan is trying to reign over the world doesn't take away God's actual reign over the world. It's like the argument , ''If God is so powerful, why doens't he eliminate evil?''. Everyone knows there is evil in the world. That's why I don't have a hard time believing Satan has a plan to rule the world. Pointing this out doesn't mean one is implying that God is not reigning over the world and over Satan and his minions.

Now I'm not so sure about that, Rachel. Remember the Lord's prayer, "Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done." That implies to me that God's Kingdom has not yet come. I also understand that Christ said His kingdom was within us, but I think there will come a time when His kingdom will literally be of this earth. Satan is still the prince of this world, remember, and He will be until Christ's return. Right?

Yeah, that separating the wheat from the tares hasn't happened yet.

Yes, God is firmly in control. I do not doubt that. Even so satan is still god of this world until the day he and his minions are tossed into the lake of fire. Evil is still among us and growing and that is within God's permissive will.

My issue with conspiracy theorists is that many seem to overshoot the mark, so to speak. I think some of what they say is worth noting, and potentially true, and worth watching for. But they go way to far. Not everyone in Israel are false Jews or these Khazars. Jews are there from all over Europe. And no matter how much Jewish blood they have in them, they're all people, for goodness sake. Oh I'm sure there are evil Jews, but there's evil people everywhere. I'm not about to jump to conclusions about a whole race of people based on possibilities or even proof that some if not many of these people are "up to no good." That's not my call! Yes, I agree that if they haven't accepted Christ, they're no more God's people than the Pakistanis, or the Buddhists, or whoever, but they're still people we want to bring to Christ. I'm sure not going to turn against the whole freaking bunch of them because some of them may be corrupt. Good grief.

I heard that the Bible was written by Bill Gates because he wanted to have a "monopoly" over all other religious books.

It sounds legit, and it was told to me by a guy wearing a very convincing "serpent-like suit", so I think he can be trusted!!!

Well I have to wonder (when they claim they believe God is in control) why conspiracy theorists believe everyone else should be digging into these secret conspiracies that are going on behind the scenes, suggesting that we're not doing God's will if we don't "study up" as they always say on these claims of theirs, how can you think God is in control if you're thinking you need to do all this digging? What is it you think you're going to accomplish that God can't? Where in scriptures does it say we're supposed to do this kind of thing? I think, nowhere. We're supposed to be giving glory to God in the way that we live, sharing the gospel, etc.

we were told Muslims did 9-11....that this was a fulfillment of Bible prophecy....

we were told all kinds of things about 9-11 being Bible prophecy.

America was Babylon the Great..."the towers came down in one hour" we heard.

that because "America had turned it's back on Israel" (varying combinations of this idea)....she was now being cursed.

and so on and so on and so on.

this kind of stuff is rampant:

NOW THE END BEGINS: God's Prophetical Promise To Return The Jews To Israel

.....

we're told there will be a 7 year peace treaty between some leader and israel.
that it will broken in the middle of the 7 years.
that according to God's Plan there will be a temple and the jews brought back in mercy will be persecuted by this world leader who has agreed to let sacrifices (of some kind) resume.

then he goes against God and breaks the treaty.

.......

we've all heard this delusional corruption of scripture.

i've read every flavor of conspiracy theory about the Pope and the Catholic Church.

we've seen conspiracy theories about gentiles corrupting the True Jewish Religion which is what we have been duped into calling Christianity.

.....

apparently these aren't conspiracy theories which deny Daniel 9 was fulfilled already and claim the Church is some Plan B.

oh no! this is BIBLE PROPHECY!

~

anybody who tries to unravel this stuff by BOTH scripture (which appears to have no effect on Dispensationalist conspiracy theorists) and uses REAL INFORMATION to show who actually DID DO 9-11.....is a nazi kook.

ya, it all makes such sense.

Here are the facts: Fact 1- satan thinks he is god, but he is really an idiot. Fact 2 - we need not fear satan's idiocy because of fact 1. Fact 3 - conspiracy theorists are those who do not look at fact, but the ones who look for the truth are actually Watchmen (look up Steve Quayle). Fact 4 - assuming that all those who are radical in their search for the truth are conspiracy theorists (aka nuts, whack jobs, loons, etc) and going against the Bible is a poor way of thinking. I am a radical Christian myself and am considered crazy by most.
