There is a parable about two sons of a man in the bible... I do not remember the story word for word, nor do I remember the verse.... So bare with me... It might be in the book of Luke...

The man was very rich and had a abundance of wealth...

One son was very loyal and worked for his father day and night doing anything the father asked... And stayed by his fathers side when the famine hit.

The other son was rebellious and never listened to his father. He never worked in the fields, watched the sheep, or milked the cows.... This son ended up running away from his father when the famine hit for he did not want to go through hard times...

When the son ran away he went to a town, This town was not as merciful as his father had been... Since he did not work he did not eat or have a house to stay in... The son longed for his fathers love so he ran back to his father...

When he returned his father opened his arms and welcomed him. The father could see the son was starved so he ordered his servant to go and prepare the calf to eat, that they had been saving all winter so they could celebrate his son returning to his father...

The other son approached his father and said, I have worked for you without question all my life, I have never strayed nor complained. I have never begged or wanted. Yet your other son who has strayed, complained, wanted, begged, and never worked gets a feast. He takes from our spoils and hard work. We have been saving that calf all though out this famine and now you plan on wasting it...

The father said son, Look as far as you can see, this is all my land. Look at every living thing, this is all mine too... You are my son, and what is mine is yours. So let me celebrate your brother returning by giving him a calf.

This kinda shows how when we are new to Christianity and return to our Father we feel beyond gifted. We feel in his presence more then ever before... But when we work and live with out father we can become short sighted and forget our blessings...

Also God's will is beyond our understanding... Here is a childish yet really cool video on how God's will is always for us, even if we don't see it.

God truly loves those that are His. He loves you! Listen to what God says for those who are in desperate situations and what he promises when they call upon Him. Meditate and ask God that you said
and call on me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you will honor me.” On Psalms 50:15

God speaks to us all the time...through His creation, through other people, through circumstances. It is we that have a hard time seeing and hearing.

Our closeness to Him depends on several things....are we reading His Word regularly? Are we talking to Him (not just asking for things) and worshiping Him? Are we fellow-shipping with other Christians? Are we working on eliminating sin from our lives? Are we helping others? Even though we can't be perfect on this side of heaven, transformed hearts will make every effort to please God. His desires for us are plainly stated in the Bible. Eventually His desires will become our desires. But it does take time and effort.

One thing that helps me is to have quiet time in His creation....sit by a creek, go for a hike....just enjoy what He has created and tell Him thank you for all of your blessings. Your perspective will change accordingly. Practicing gratitude, and eliminating negative thinking, gossip, etc. will make a big difference!

Praying for you...may the Spirit speak to you today in a big way :).

The story you related sounds very much like that of the Prodigal Son, unless there is another similar story I am unfamiliar with. Yes, the father greeted the son and welcomed him with open arms when he returned, as God does for us, time and time again.

I too have struggled with why I don't "hear" or "feel" God, even though I know He's there, I know He loves me and I know He hears me. I know this. I do. But more than anything I want to feel His presence, experience Him. My faith has not waned since I came to Christ, I have never doubted it. I talk to Him daily, praying and talking, and waiting.

It is like all relationships, it takes a lot of listening. Haven't you tried to have a conversation with someone who was so busy talking they didn't hear a word you had to say?

Getting to know the principles God runs our world with, and how to keep within them without trying to live our life outside of those principles takes a lifetime of listening. God speaks plainly in the scriptures. He also speaks in history, how our world is doing, the order of the stars, watching the ocean, all growth, many ways.

Being I am a lowly human, I found a special way to listen. I realize it is a gimmick for my mind, but it works for me. I got a prayer shawl. It is made of wool as near like it came from the sheep as it can and still smell OK, and it is hand woven by a Christian. It is white to represent purity and blue that God mentions. It has been blessed. I keep it in a special bag and let no one touch it. In the mornings after coffee, I wash my hands, another gimmick I'm afraid. As I wash, I ask Christ to come into my heart and wash me clean. Then I put the shawl over my head to close out the world to just have me and the Lord there, and I praise Him and I listen.

Don't just pray politely. Let God hear how you feel. Pour out you heart in your brokenness to Him. God is not just intellect, He is emotion too. Cry out to Him like David did.

Sometimes I feel like God has forgotten me also but then He speaks to me or provides for me and lets me know He is still with me.
It is my expectations versus His divine plan. :D My family is known to be stubborn so there you go!
I have been through quite a journey with God and still am. God is never late/early and God is never wrong. He is an on time God.
My family and everyone questions me about my life over the past few years but if it is God's will then it shall be until He says otherwise. He told me that the harvest is ripe. What are you doing with your time while you are waiting for whatever you think you should be doing? Whatever is right, whatever is good, whatever is righteous.
We all have different walks and sometimes we try to go on paths that are not in His plan for us and so they do not work or we are doing exactly what He wants us to be doing but we don't see it as being fruitful. I have learned to accept where I am and trust God that He will lead me where He wants me. Don't worry I still fret and worry occasionally but it is because of my past. I worked very hard and had a very good life. I still have a good life but my spirit wants more or so it thinks I guess. :D
Keep your eye on Jesus and trust that He will lead you where He wants you. Pray and receive what is in His will for you.

I am so sorry that you feel God has been silent. I have felt that very way many times. This is one of the hardest things to overcome as christians because sometimes we think that if we follow him, he will answer us immediately. We must remember though that God moves and speaks on his own time. In all walks of our lives we must prepare ourselves for his revealing nature regardless of what we may have going on at the time. He works in mysterious ways, and always knows when he is needed the most. He listens to everything that we say to him, and when we feel we are at our weakest, lowest point...KABAM!, thats when all of a sudden the miracles begin showing up.

I remember a few years back, I just thought that God had disserted me for all times to come. Nothing I did or said was making how I felt any better. One night I couldn't sleep so I grabbed my bible and began to read, as I did what I realized was that God hadn't disserted me as I had so long thought but rather in his way, in his time, he had something he was attempting to show to and tell me about my life.

From that time on I have tried to always remember that if God is remaining silent in my life it's because he's working on something in my life that I must to be ready to understand and when the time is right...there he will be.

My friend I wish you luck and blessings. Remember, just because you can't hear God doesn't mean he isn't walking right beside you.

Be careful and don't ask God for anything that is for your own self-satisfaction.

The KJV uses the word long-suffering, rather than patience.

Someone will go to church and pray for a job, but when they get it (if, I should say) the person
can be tempted with added income. And instead of relying on God, he or she can lean on self.
Your temptations or trials or whatever can happen for many reasons, maybe no reason. God makes sense out of nonsense.
He will do the same for you. Continue to pursues God and not the thing for which you pray, fast, hope.

Your words echo the words of my heart. May the ever faithful LORD lift us both up into HIS LOVING EMBRACE and may that LOVE saturate every fiber of our bodies, minds, hearts, spirits and souls so profusely that all around us can feel it too. I pray this in the name of the only GOD, THE HOLY, ALL-POWERFUL LORD JESUS CHRIST, AMEN

I always told God how to run my life. I told him I wanted to be born in a loving family. I wasn't. I want my sister to speak to me She won't. I want to be Grandma, and have my kids meet here. They don't. I wanted to keep living in my home near my beloved ocean where the trees are green. I live in the desert. I gave God specific details of what I wanted. But I WANT it, my Father.

When I finally settled down to listening to Him, I found He had given me treasures that were just like He said they were, they are like gold.

I know how you feel. I have wondered alot if my prayers and hearts desires are being heard!I wonder sometimes if it is because I am not worthy because i am not any everyday church goer and or not a big enough christian or because I do not read the bible regularly. I wonder if trick to this is that we are of analizing how good our actual prayers are and if we have done them right. This may just be me though! I think if we seek him into our lifes alittle more so everyday we will recieve peace and the gift in knowing how we can please him in this way and inturn realizing that by simply sitting back and looking at our outcomes in our own personal walk that he is speaking volumes to our hearts and the gift is knowing that his voice is still and quite alot of the times and can only be heard when we turn off our own thoughts and the world for a minute we will feel that voice in our hearts and we will have a since of needing to tell others, we will enjoy the love in our life, people in our life, and we will be able to face the inevitable that the world is always the world the good with the bad but how we respond in the qutie moments is what will change our minds! I hope this helps some it may just be my own therapy ;)
