Yeah in that first video the guy is a total jerk. Imagine the rage we would see on this forum if an atheist jumped on a christian monument during its unveiling. People would be all over it, yet no one says it when the tables are turned? Eric Hovind is an embarrassment as a christian and have no common sense of decency or respect. And the fact that no one here has a problem with his actions is just as gross and hypocritical.

. I guess it would be discrimination not to let them have it. People are entitled to be silly. I find it silly because why do you need a monument to express what you dont believe in. I dont believe in a purple spaghetti monster but you dont see me building any monuments about it,,,,just sayin

I could go ways on what he did, Nautilus. Certainly those atheists were all over him as well. It was a bit obnoxious, true. But look at all the atheists in this forum that happily and continually put our Christian belief down. And they're certainly allowed to stay. It was kind of an interesting video. The atheists obviously got the last word there, anyway. lol.

I don't think it would bother me. Atheists just need Jesus like everyone else.

Cement blocks don't upset me. They have every right to put their beliefs in stone as others do.

Only "issue" I have is one that was mention by an atheist friend of mine. He stated that money for those monuments could have been spent helping others feeding the hungry and so on. Putting beliefs in stone doesn't make you any better of a person, but actually helping others does make a difference. He felt it was a waste of money. I can't argue with him on that.

Just like Christian monuments doesn't mean your on holy ground. It's an inanimte object.

What I think is interesting about your comment is that atheist are always saying everything is a strawman argument. I think the way a strawman argument is defined is like this: A makes a statement. B makes a statement. B attacks A's statement. Hence, A is wrong. That's about it.

Yeah, one church in my hometown spent $500,000 on a cross.

That's not what a straw man is.

A straw man is an intentional misrepresentation of an oppStraw man - RationalWikionent's position,
often used in debates with unsophisticated audiences to make it appear that
the opponent's arguments are more easily defeated than they are.

In very simple terms, a straw man argument is one designed to be weak so the one who designed it can easily knock it down. It often has false facts or poorly represented facts.

That right there is something I have a problem with. That money could go toward needy families. It would have benefited more people that way.

I'm not a fan of large church buildings and pretty decorations. I understand building repair and things like that but I just don't get into the hi tech systems and half million dollar crosses. That's just me though.

If what he is saying is true, I would have a problem with that as well. Even so, I would have to see it to understand why it would cost that much.

I'm friends with the head of the company they ordered the steel from. It's huge. They built it so large that you can see it
on the interstate from far away.

Looks kind of like this one in Effingham, IL
