By not committing adultery you think you keep the law.
Hmmm, by not committing adultery, whether physically or mentally, I think that would qualify as keeping the Law. Man this grace thing sure has a lot of folks confused about how to do what God says to do.
But if you want to have a go with the neighbors wife you have committed adultery in your heart.
Exactly, breaking any or all of the Ten Commandments, whether physically or mentally, is sin. Now how difficult is that?
How do you stop from wanting to have a go with the neighbors wife? By keeping the law and not committing adultery? Your remembrance of that law reminds you that you still want the neighbors wife which makes you guilty of breaking that law. So that's not working...
Php 4:13 I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.
Rom 8:7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.
Rom 8:8 So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.
Rom 8:9 But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.
Your flesh isn't stopping your flesh from wanting what it wants. Right?
You mean to tell me that you can't help having thoughts of murder? That you have no control over the fleshly desires by the Spirit that dwells in you?
Don't think of a pink elephant. Don't think of a pink elephant. Don't think of a pink elephant. Dang it. This very act of trying not to do something causes the very act of doing it.
If you knew and applied the scriptures you may not have nearly so much problem...
Php 4:8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.
I guess we're done for. No hope. We can't do it.
Must be a mighty hopeless situation you are in. I will pray for you that you may discover this...
Php 4:13 I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.
But what if we could get help? What if we could pray to a person who is more powerful than ourselves? That would be awesome.
What if He taught you that there is another Way? What if He gave you Power to follow that New Way?
That would really be something.
You mean the way of obedience?
