  1. JS claims a prophetic office & exercises the false prophet's position. This office of prophet is determined by what we previously read in the Bible dictionaries.
  2. JS does teach false doctrine
  3. JS leads the church astray into spiritual whoredom
  4. JS has to have an "Ahab" to have authority and dominion, which means someone in a leadership role.
OK, Stilly, what would you suggest for number one? The other three are obvious
1. JS WILL by all means claim to be a prophet or prophetess. They won't simply be a teacher, preacher, declarer of the things of God we can label as a "prophet" by blurring lines. JS will distinctly claim to be a prophetess/prophet just like the one John points out in Rev 2:20.

So....it isn't fair to say ALL prophets are false.
No more prophets, no more teaching, no more gifts of anything else.
Seems funny to me.....seeing as Satan has his prophets of doom.
I would think the church would be fairly easily dispatched with, back when people killed christians for the state.
Well this thread isn't about if prophets are still valid today.

It's about pegging the attributes of a jezebel spirit.
The only NT attribute we have within the church context and how it operates within the church is found in Rev 2, and is someone who actually claimed to be a prophetess.

Continuing while we wait..........

Just to make things more complicated, the original insights or “words of wisdom” that such people parade usually contain more than an element of truth. At some point, however, vital boundaries are overstepped, and both hearing and actions become mixed with the soul and therefore corrupted. Believing themselves to be spiritually superior to others, they are reluctant to admit to the possibility of being in sin and deception. Demanding blind obedience from others, such people have a great aversion to being reasoned with or questioned. Eventually, these individuals become unteachable and unyielding.’ ‘Jezebel spirits’ seduce others to their cause by flattering promises of how greatly the Lord will use them. Once these people express the required level of loyalty, however, Jezebel does an about face. Like Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde, Jezebel starts by telling people about the remarkable spiritual gift that they alone can develop. But then they scold them in a carefully controlled ploy that is designed to keep followers dependent on them and trapped in a low self-esteem from which only they can rescue them. (2 Peter 2:1-3, cf John 5:44) This toxic cycle eats away a person’s self worth and leaves naive young believers prone to fear, and doubting that God speaks to anyone. Once these people achieve the recognition and position that they crave, they initially respond with false humility. This misleading meekness is short-lived. That false humility is actually a mask for deeply rooted pride and presumption. Jezebel feels particularly threatened by gifted prophetic people, seeing them as a threat to their zone of control.
this what you stated here is exactly what is the problem with flesh and blood it is weak and can't be Holy, and God's going to the cross is not an excuse for the flesh as many have taken it this way. When in fact God has called us to a new life, that is appreciative to God and is willing to be dead to self. as we are born in the flesh dead to God in need of being born again by God through the resurrected Christ, dying to the JS of the flesh that is selfish, and acts as if it is not.

[SUP]20 [/SUP]Notwithstanding I have a few things against thee, because thou sufferest that woman Jezebel, which calleth herself a prophetess, to teach and to seduce my servants to commit fornication, and to eat things sacrificed unto idols.
[SUP]21 [/SUP]And I gave her space to repent of her fornication; and she repented not.

She calls herself a prophetess and she teaches, but she also seduces them to commit fornication

So if we lock it down that way, we must also lock down the context below it the same way, right?

Revelation 2:22-23 (KJV)
[SUP]22 [/SUP]Behold, I will cast her into a bed, and them that commit adultery with her into great tribulation, except they repent of their deeds. [SUP]23 [/SUP]And I will kill her children with death; and all the churches shall know that I am he which searcheth the reins and hearts: and I will give unto every one of you according to your works.

By all means, but that's gonna ruffle the feathers of some who think God doesn't act like that to his NT church.

Well then if that's the case, I'd say there are more false teachers today than anything else.
- Think about it. Total new age doctrines of prosperity.
- They aren't prophesying that, they are preaching that....(really teaching it).
- This among many other false gospels being taught.

I have a hard time wrapping my mind around someone walking into a church and the first thing that comes out of her mouth is that they are a prophet. I don't know anybody true or false but does that, do you?

Not to mention they prophecy out of their own heart or like you said out of insecurity and all the while are not living a godly life

Lol. All I know is that the inspired Apostle, wrote this.

[SUP]20 [/SUP]Notwithstanding I have a few things against thee, because thou sufferest that woman Jezebel, which calleth herself a prophetess,
Now if it's not revealed right away, then all of the theorizing about hidden hard to trace plots does become validated.

On the other hand, if at some point the JS claims to be a prophetess/prophet, and that's part of THE characteristics of a JS, then it certainly takes someone who NEVER claims to be a prophet ever, off the perp list for being a JS.

This also brings up a new question. Since you want to state this as a mirror for the whole church, then it must be for the whole church, whether a particular denomination believes in them or not. In other words, they are still there, whether they make their claim or not, working in the background. If this were not so, this would make those denominations totally impervious to the Jezebel spirit. God is no respecter of persons. Whatever He will allow, He will allow for everybody.

The prosperity gospel is addressed in the seventh church.
As well as in ITimothy 6:5-10.
Actually all of the churches in Rev. 2 and 3 have semblances of various churches today.
- Want to know why???? - - - - Because there is a spirit behind every one of them.
Including the Holy Spirit which leads Smyrna and Philadelphia. - (Churches, not cities!):)

Ok I know you love the idea of hidden plots, and murky shadowy figures carrying out hard to trace devious plots in the "background". That in fact may happen. That in fact probably does happen.

Regardless, in the context of trying to find the characteristics of a JS, based on Rev 2:20..
[SUP]20 [/SUP]Notwithstanding I have a few things against thee, because thou sufferest that woman Jezebel, which calleth herself a prophetess,

At some point in time, JS will declare himself/herself a prophet/prophetess.
That's based on the ONLY example of how we see it working in the church as described in the NT.

So if ultimately, the JS is going to declare their prophety-ness, that removes anyone from the perp list who would NEVER EVER consider declaring themselves as a prophet/prophetess.

I did, There was a women here where we live who did this all the while she was running around sleeping with men. She was also self righteous and holier than thou. I do believe she has repented. It was actually scary

There in fact may be people in the background in places, carrying out murky, shadowy, devious, nefarious, hard to trace schemes. But if these people would NEVER EVER consider declaring themselves a prophet/prophetess, then you can't pin the Jezebel label on them, seeing they don't fit the template God gives us of how they work in the church based on Revelation 2. For these hidden, hard to find, scheming, people who don't fit the JS template, I'd suggest trying to find a new title for them. Cuz they more than likely do exist, it's just that they don't fit the JS template.

No prophets, no perps.
No words of knowledge, no perps.
No healings, no perps.
No Holy Spirit, no perp.
No Comforter, no perp.
- There should never be anything perpetrated by God's Spirit.
- - That would make it a 'perp'.
It's amazing how self sufficient the church is, and if it needs help....it becomes a junkie to a 'perp'.

God appoints people, through faith, to different offices per Ephesians 5, think it is, stilledwaters. Some prophesy, some teach, some pastor. A prophet can teach and a teacher can prophesy. That's what I think stephenspeaks is speaking of :)

As for Jezebel, 'that woman Jezebel' is a specific woman in the Thyatira church, whom John addresses in his message from God to that church, a.k.a. revelation. Now, it is true that some of this Revelation's Jezebel will/can/does have characteristics of the Old Testament Jezebel married to King Ahab, but, bottom line: the Jezebel of the Old Testament does not literally link to the New Testament Jezebel. One Jez is in a totally different time frame/period from the other, and, to link them together just can't work.

A Jezebel spirit is a demon , who will get into someone and cause them to make others fear for their Christian life. I don't think a Christian can do this to another Christian, right, because NEITHER is a 'demon.' But, there can be workings by The Devil, still, through the one's actions and desire, to bring about a spirit of oppression on one Christian over another, or, even depression or anxiety. But , IS that one Christian person who is mocking or degrading another Christian 'of The Devil' is a question that is a 'no.'

People who accuse others of being plain wrong in their doctrine of faith alone or faith and grace alone, or, grace alone, or, bible alone claims for salvation merely do not understand the error that they do and though they are mocking it is just like Jesus who saw through the ridicule He was receiving on the cross, Jesus saw THEIR hearts and Scripture is clear so that we KNOW He saw their hearts when Jesus looked down from the cross He was on saying: "Forgive them father for they know not what they do."

We have two examples: two different Jezebels, hence, two different spirits that can come into a human being.

Some think it's symbolic, and I made a post earlier referencing many sources that do link the two.
Me thinks you're on your own on this one greeny.
