I'm currently in Mississippi for a family reunion. Yesterday I met my two-year-old cousin for the first time, and she and I were named after the same ancestor, Anna*, except my dad added one letter at the front of my name.
Our first conversation went something like this:

Me: hi, what's your name?
Her: Anna :)
me: wow! My name is Hanna, can you say Hanna?
Her: Anna! :D
Me: haha that's close! Lets try again, can you say Hanna?
Her: ...Hanna? :D
Me: great! Now, what's your name?
Her: Hanna! :D

I had a feeling this would be confusing.



*not our actual name, but it gets the point across. :p

I just woke up......after sleeping a good 14 hours at least (I pulled an all nighter the night before). I had a weird dream about me and one of my friends I haven't seen or heard from in a year taking a road trip to Canada....it was a really long dream too. More than 4 or 5 hours of time is what it felt like I actually experienced.

To make a long story short, Dream Canada sucked........It was mostly just a lot of driving, it was cold, there were lots of trees.....and everywhere was just a very small town and nothing really major was going on. Only upside was a nice meal at a crowded diner and my friend managed to somehow drive a riding lawnmower into some old Hippy dude's water supply (He had a huge reservoir that he only used for personal plumbing) and I had to do a little swimming to retrieve the lawnmower, and I vaguely remember something burning down at a national park we stopped at.

At the old hippy dude segment he wasn't mad about the lawnmower ordeal, he was actually pretty nice but then he went off on a rant explaining to me that Hippies weren't just an American phenomenon.....he then proceeded to tell me how it was for the hippies in Canada back in the 60's and how it affected the social structure, how the cops reacted, and how pot went from being nonexistent to being available practically everywhere. It was seriously at least a 15 minute conversation loaded with information about the Canadian Hippy movement of the 1960's.....and it was booooring....I just sat there and listened to be polite because my friend did just screw up his lawnmower.

I hope I never gotta go back to Dream Canada.....that place sucks.

I knew it. (I read this thread last when catching up this morning.) I think it was your "What I Look For" picture post, but I was thinking to myself, Jules is switched on today...she's fired up. Good on you, girl. You go get 'em. ^_^

Under the category of "Things I Wish Hadn't Happened Today"....

I had to go grocery shopping. You know, the 30 miles there, 30 miles back junk. And I had both kiddos with me, and half way through the store, one started screaming, so the other one started, too. I would LOVE to have been able to just take the kids home at that point, instead of continuing to shop. Because shopping with screaming kids is far too much excitement for lil ol' me.

We made it to the check out line by promising a yummy sandwich to one kid, and excessive use of a pacifier for the other.

I forgot to ask for dry ice.

So then, 12 miles out of town, my left rear tire blew out. It's another 100 degree day, I have no air conditioning in my car, and I had no cell phone on me. I pulled off the road, rolled all the windows down (so's I could better hear my toasty children hollering at me...? Hmm...) and proceeded to freak out.

Because I have only ever changed a tire ONE. TIME. And that was well over 5 years ago. And my sister taught me, and because she was the one talking, I kinda...zoned out...and couldn't remember how to change a tire. Yay me...

Within 20 seconds of stepping out of my vehicle, a shiny red car pulled up behind me, and a very nice man who was traveling with his wife and 2 little girls got out, extracted my spare tire, and changed it in just a few short minutes.

And so I drove home at a respectable 55 mph instead of the um...71...I was going before, and now the gallon of milk I purchased is possibly no good, but everything else seems ok.

So...the moral of the story is...um...

OH! Right. Yeah. Drive the speed limit. Don't go places when it's this hot. Ask for dry ice. All that stuff.

This coulda gone in another thread. Meh.

You've obviously never been to dream Canada......Tree's, Cold weather, and water.......that was 90% of the whole thing....and it was loooooong.

I can't find the groove today.

I have gotten some things done. But not to the extent that I should. There's an over-arching MEH just hanging over me.

It was not a good morning. Boo going back to work. And not even real work.

Technically speaking, I am a public school educator, but no self-respecting person in my field says it that way. I'm a band director. :p

As you know, I was a band director too.....but who are these "self-respecting" people of whom you refer? ;)
