God continues to pour out Blessings in my life. A Dentist from Church has been doing my dental work for free. I lost one of my front teeth playing basketball in prison in 2005. (In prison, basketball is another name for Football.) I had my impression done last Wed.

Last night, I was at a gathering that I go too and afterwards I had a friend approach me and tell me that a number of the people had put some money together to get me a partial because they see my drive and my commitment to do the right thing. I was in awe of this act of love. I have received much from my Church Family, this was an utter shock and such a true blessing. Can you say WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!! God continues to amaze me in regards to Eph 3:20

I am allowing my Light to Shine, and God is being faithful to His Child. God is So Good!!!!!!

That's wonderful PTL man. I'm happy for you, I know how expensive and hard it can be to pay for dental work. I'm having some work done this year and man it's expensive.

Goooooood day!! I started the day off with coffee and the word, followed soon after by a great 5 mile run and then a few more exercises. Lots of outside play time with the kiddos (now that the dog is dead they can play outside!) and tons of cleaning and organizing during nap time! Oh! And I got my car back from the shop today. Woot!

It's 8pm and I'm going to bed. I don't care if it's early! I'm kinda grumpy and I'm all misunderstandy. It's nap time people. The long version.

You know what's interesting? When you relax any other part of your body, it goes limp, but when you relax your fingers, they curl up.

They curl up because the muscles, tendons, and ligaments are short and segmented. Think of it as elastic. You can stretch elastic to a point, but it will return to it's original length. The toes curl in as well. The phalanges (fingers and toes) curl in to protect themselves and to give the connecting muscle a rest.

That wasn't even the end of it! I went and got my car and then went home to shower and get ready to take my daughter to go babysit 5 kids ranging from 1-10 yrs old for 6 hours. :D And then I came home and did my 190 squats that I forgot about earlier in the day. -_- bummer dude.

Interesting goings-on in the work place.

Allow me to set the stage.

Brand new school opening this year; they are pulling about a third of our population from us. Every spring, we file all the 5th graders from our sister school into our gym, and host a 15 minute presentation featuring the band, choir, and orchestra programs. It's recruiting, essentially, and the kids get to hear each music elective before they select the elective of their choice. However, a third of these kids actually wouldn't be coming to my school, they would be going to the new school...so I was effectively recruiting for TWO band programs! With that in place, the new school's principal and the band and choir teachers were also at this performance.

At the gig is a woman I estimate to be in her mid to late 20s. She has at least two inches on me (making her at least 5'10"), blonde, caucasian, leggy, modelesque. For one thing, it's a tall white girl in El Paso; I know that sounds racist, but spend a day here and tell me that a tall, blonde white person doesn't stick out. It's just reality. But on top of that, she was a stunner, and...I couldn't help but notice. This woman is CLEARLY out of my league. But I didn't stare, just occasionally glanced over enough times for my first chair clarinet to ask, "Do you know the blonde?"

I find out an hour or so later that she will be the choir director at the new school. I jokingly tell my school's choir director that she should find out if the new girl is single.

*sigh* Why do I open my mouth?

Flash-forward. This morning's training is not campus-based, but district-based, so band/choir/orchestra/theatre/dance/art teachers all go to one big meeting together. At the end of yesterday's training, my choir cohort elbows me and says, "Tomorrow we get to see Mia [not her real name]! Are you excited?"

*sigh* WHY DO I OPEN MY MOUTH?!

(Another important fact - the new school, instead of hiring an orchestra teacher, poached our orchestra director, who will be working at both campuses. This teacher, who we will call Bianca, has spent Monday and Tuesday getting set up at the new school, with Mia and the two band directors.)

"I told Bianca what you said about Mia after the concert in the spring, I think she's trying to put in a good word for you."

WHY DO I OPEN MY STUPID MOUTH?!?!

This morning, I catch Bianca in the parking lot and we walk in together. She hasn't seen me since school got out, and is freaking out about my hair. (Bianca has hair almost to her knees, no exaggeration.) When we get into the room for the meeting, the subject changes. "Oh, so, I've been talking to Mia."

RAWR! WHY DO I OPEN MY MOUTH?!?!

During the meeting, in occasional lulls, Bianca tells me that she's talked me up, this and that, she's 23 [are you KIDDING you can't seriously mean to matchmake me with someone 12 years my junior and easily a bazillion points hotter why are you doing this to me you cruel crazy friends], new in town, blah blah blah. I probably spent the first two hours of the day as the reddest shade of red an Asian can be.

But then...this: "And I told her, 'one of the teachers saw you at the assembly last spring and fell head over heels for you [RAWR!!!], and I think you should really meet him,' but I didn't tell her that it was you, although I did say that you had long hair [well WHO ELSE WOULD SHE THINK IT WAS THEN?!], and the VERY first thing she asked me was, 'Is he a Christian?' "

Oh my gosh! That's so fun! So much excitement going on, you mean! I'm totally a giggly little girl over here, wanting to know every detail of what happens next. Pardon me. *ahem* Soooo....*twiddles thumbs*

Also, are you actually opposed to dating someone 12 years your junior or do you just think you wouldn't have a chance? And....are you opposed to dating someone taller than you....or do you just think you wouldn't have a chance? These are important things to take into consideration.... :p

Twelve is a pretty big swing. The Ex was six years my junior, and there were plenty of times when it was apparent. But I know that every person is unique. I've met people who were more mature at 20 than people I knew who were 28. I've only just met the woman, so I don't really know, but twelve feels big. I mean, she's just starting her career (it's literally her second year teaching), so I would assume she's still settling into her role and identity in society...where as I am already firmly entrenched. (Reference all the recent age-difference posts in the last month.) I'm not saying it wouldn't work, I'm not saying it will. I'm saying that it's enough to be hesitant and cautious, you know?

The height issue is not an issue for me, never has been...but for ever tall woman I've known, it is an issue to them. Every woman over 5'10" that I've known has not been remotely interested in a man who is under six feet. In general, women tend to prefer their men taller (argue all you want, but I've looked at hundreds of profiles on Match, CM, OKC, and PoF and I see the trends in the data), and the most ridiculous bit is that women who fall in the 4'10 to 5'3 range all tend to want men who are over 6'0, while women 5'4 to 5'8 tend to be okay with men who are more averagely built. I guess I'm just blessed that I'm not short. If you're average, you've got a shot with averagely heighted women. But short women and tall women trend towards tall men. Very frustrating. Let's not forget heels, too. ^_^

Do I not think I have a chance? Well, from a purely physical standpoint, we could generously rate me at a seven (very generous), that would scale her to at least a nine...

...teen.

Yeah, age thing aside, I'm pretty sure she's way out of my league. ^_^

Sometimes guys will say that a woman is out of their league when she isn't. This lady may see it differently than you do. For her to ask first thing whether you are a Christian speaks volumes of this lady. Just...think about it. :)

Ah. Gotcha. Well, don't be too hard on yourself. You're quite the stud muffin around cc. :D it'll be interesting to see what happens next. I know that situations like that can be quite awkward and uncomfortable, but she sounds nice! So...uh...good luck! And stuff.

(Remind me not to reply to threads this late at night anymore. Thoughts don't make it out all together and in the right order.) :p

Anyone can be charming online. If I were sitting next to you or Jules on a couch, that flirt you know so well suddenly becomes a hojillion times more awkwark. ^_^

I appreciate all the votes of confidence, though.
