what's MBFM?
okay then explain to me this:
Exodus 16
29 See, for the Lord hath given you the Sabbath; therefore He giveth you on the sixth day the bread for two days. Abide ye every man in his place. Let no man go out of his place on the seventh day.”
(so stay at your house all day)
Exodus 35
3 Ye shall kindle no fire throughout your habitations upon the Sabbath day.”
(fire back then, I supposed a replacement for electricity, so no electricity all day)
Deuteronomy 5
14 but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord thy God: In it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, nor thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thine ox, nor thine ass, nor any of thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates, that thy manservant and thy maidservant may rest as well as thou.
(no work in your household may be done)
Exodus 31
15 Six days may work be done, but on the seventh is the Sabbath of rest, holy to the Lord. Whosoever doeth any work on the Sabbath day, he shall surely be put to death.
Numbers 15
32 And while the children of Israel were in the wilderness, they found a man who gathered sticks upon the Sabbath day.
33 And those who found him gathering sticks brought him unto Moses and Aaron and unto all the congregation.
34 And they put him under guard, because it was not declared what should be done to him.
35 And the Lord said unto Moses, “The man shall be surely put to death. All the congregation shall stone him with stones outside the camp.”
(any violators shall be put to death)
Exo 16:29 See, for that the LORD hath given you the sabbath, therefore he giveth you on the sixth day the bread of two days; abide ye every man in his place, let no man go out of his place on the seventh day.
What is this talking about? Not going out and gathering your daily bread. We do that today by going to work and then to the supermarket. So what should we do? Don't work on the Sabbath to earn your living and don't do your shopping on the Sabbath. The Sabbath is not a burden...
Mar 2:27 And he said unto them, The sabbath was made for man, and not man for the sabbath:
Mar 2:28 Therefore the Son of man is Lord also of the sabbath.
OK, Exodus 35...
Exo 35:1 And Moses gathered all the congregation of the children of Israel together, and said unto them, These are the words which the LORD hath commanded, that ye should do them.
Exo 35:2
Six days shall work be done, but on the seventh day there shall be to you an holy day, a sabbath of rest to the LORD: whosoever doeth work therein shall be put to death.
Exo 35:3
Ye shall kindle no fire throughout your habitations upon the sabbath day.
Now the following is connected to verse 3...
Exo 35:4 And Moses spake unto all the congregation of the children of Israel, saying, This is the thing which the LORD commanded, saying,
Exo 35:5 Take ye from among you an offering unto the LORD: whosoever is of a willing heart, let him bring it, an offering of the LORD; gold, and silver, and brass,
Exo 35:6 And blue, and purple, and scarlet, and fine linen, and goats' hair,
Exo 35:7 And rams' skins dyed red, and badgers' skins, and shittim wood,
Exo 35:8 And oil for the light, and spices for anointing oil, and for the sweet incense,
Exo 35:9 And onyx stones, and stones to be set for the ephod, and for the breastplate.
Exo 35:10 And every wise hearted among you shall come, and make all that the LORD hath commanded;
Exo 35:11 The tabernacle, his tent, and his covering, his taches, and his boards, his bars, his pillars, and his sockets,
Exo 35:12 The ark, and the staves thereof, with the mercy seat, and the vail of the covering,
Exo 35:13 The table, and his staves, and all his vessels, and the shewbread,
Exo 35:14 The candlestick also for the light, and his furniture, and his lamps, with the oil for the light,
Exo 35:15 And the incense altar, and his staves, and the anointing oil, and the sweet incense, and the hanging for the door at the entering in of the tabernacle,
Exo 35:16 The altar of burnt offering, with his brasen grate, his staves, and all his vessels, the laver and his foot,
Exo 35:17 The hangings of the court, his pillars, and their sockets, and the hanging for the door of the court,
Exo 35:18 The pins of the tabernacle, and the pins of the court, and their cords,
Exo 35:19 The cloths of service, to do service in the holy place, the holy garments for Aaron the priest, and the garments of his sons, to minister in the priest's office.
The subject here was work on the Tabernacle. The Sabbath is so important to God He did not want them to even work and labor on the Tabernacle on His Sabbath. The part about not kindling a fire was about the fact that they used large communal fires to do work. Check a few aommentaries and you will find that this is instruction not to build a fire to do work with on the Sabbath. How about cooking?
Exo 12:16 And in the first day there shall be an holy convocation, and in the seventh day there shall be an holy convocation to you; no manner of work shall be done in them,
save that which every man must eat, that only may be done of you.
It's OK to prepare a meal on the Sabbath. Now should one roast a turkey or prepare a big potroast?
Exo 16:23 And he said unto them, This is that which the LORD hath said, To morrow is the rest of the holy sabbath unto the LORD:
bake that which ye will bake to day, and seethe that ye will seethe; and that which remaineth over lay up for you to be kept until the morning.
do the heavy lifting on Friday, the preparation day, instead of the Sabbath.
Deu 5:12 Keep the sabbath day to sanctify it,
as the LORD thy God hath commanded thee.
Deu 5:13
Six days thou shalt labour, and do all thy work:
Deu 5:14 But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, nor thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thine ox, nor thine ass, nor any of thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates; that thy manservant and thy maidservant may rest as well as thou.
Deu 5:15 And remember that thou wast a servant in the land of Egypt, and that the LORD thy God brought thee out thence through a mighty hand and by a stretched out arm: therefore the LORD thy God commanded thee to keep the sabbath day.
OK, I don't work for a living on the Sabbath day, neither do I hire people to work for me on the Sabbath. We had some timber cut on our farm a few years ago, guess what, the timber cutters did not work on the Sabbath. I don't see what is so difficult about this. Those circumstances in my direct control are in MY control. There is no work done on the Sabbath.
Exo 31:15 Six days may work be done; but in the seventh is the sabbath of rest, holy to the LORD: whosoever doeth any work in the sabbath day, he shall surely be put to death.
OK, so let's get a few N.T. scriptures involved here...
1Jn 3:4 Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.
Sin is the breaking (transgression) of the Law. What is the result?
Rom 6:23
For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Num 15:32 And while the children of Israel were in the wilderness, they found a man that gathered sticks upon the sabbath day.
Num 15:33 And they that found him gathering sticks brought him unto Moses and Aaron, and unto all the congregation.
Num 15:34 And they put him in ward, because it was not declared what should be done to him.
Num 15:35 And the LORD said unto Moses, The man shall be surely put to death: all the congregation shall stone him with stones without the camp.
See the above. Now let me see, this is the one who became Jesus Christ telling the people that breaking His Sabbath is a capital offence. Are you more righteous than Him? More compassionate than Christ? More loving than Christ? Allowing sin to continue will corrupt more people and bring more misery...
Ecc 8:11 Because sentence against an evil work is not executed speedily, therefore the heart of the sons of men is fully set in them to do evil.
Did you notice that all of your questions here are directed at statements made by God? Maybe your problem is with Him and not me.
