So I had chance today to think a lot about who God is and what he wants us to do. As I was thinking and praying about this, God spoke something to me that I thought was worth sharing. So here it is:
As we become Christians, we are saved. We all know what that means, but the idea tends to fade and we get caught up in the world again. If the question comes up if we know Christ as our personal Lord and Savior, we immediately respond "Of course", and can talk all day about who He is. But, do we know what we do after salvation? If salvation is all we really need, then why are we still here? Wouldn't have God taken us already to be with Him once we get saved? Then, the question arises, what do we need to do after salvation? Most people seek this out after their salvation, and may live more on fire for God for a short period of time, but then it fades. So, what are we still doing here anyways?
As God was speaking to me today, He showed me that I am here to serve. I'm sure most of you hear it all the time. But if you take time to think about it and look at it in a new light, it can give you a new sense of purpose.
First, we are here to serve God. He's number one, He's why we are able to walk around with this purpose in life, and He is why we can breathe and know that our breath is merely a grain of salt to the eternity we are going to live in when we move on from this life on earth. We live to serve Him. We are His servants, and we need to follow His commands first and foremost.
Second, we are here to serve the WORLD. We are here to serve the drug dealers, the alcoholics, the rapists and the murders. And, just as importantly, we are here to serve the everyday man. Every man has a different personality, are we ready to get to know them for the advancement of Christ's Kingdom? We aren't here for ourselves, we already know who Christ is. If we were here for ourselves, we would be gone already. Christ would have taken us the moment we were saved, the moment we became His.
We are still here on this earth for a reason, and that is to serve. What are you doing today to serve our God? Do you have a servants heart today? Or are you going to keep living for yourself? It can be as simple as talking to somebody who seems down, or offering a part of your lunch to somebody who looks hungry. These are all examples of Christ's love. Christ came to this earth and He lived for us, but what's most important is that He died for us. He died for the people that you don't like at school, the people that just stand around and cuss at work, the people that make fun of you. He didn't only die for you, He died for THEM also. So get out there and serve, look what somebody did for you in your life to bring you to Christ. They were serving despite fear and hate that others had towards them.
Be that somebody in someone else's life.
What are YOU still doing here anyways?
Christ came and lived and died for us, so the least we can do is live for Him.
Thanks for reading this and for your time.
Blessings,
Nate
