Psalms 92:13 Those that be planted in the house of the LORD shall flourish in the courts of our God.
Psalms 92:14 They shall still bring forth fruit in old age; they shall be fat and flourishing;
Psalms 92:15 To shew that the LORD is upright: he is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in him.

Matthew 7:16 Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?
Matthew 7:17 Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit.
Matthew 7:18 A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.
Matthew 7:19 Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.
Matthew 7:20 Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.

Jeremiah 24:1 The LORD shewed me, and, behold, two baskets of figs were set before the temple of the LORD, after that Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon had carried away captive Jeconiah the son of Jehoiakim king of Judah, and the princes of Judah, with the carpenters and smiths, from Jerusalem, and had brought them to Babylon.
Jeremiah 24:2 One basket had very good figs, even like the figs that are first ripe: and the other basket had very naughty figs, which could not be eaten, they were so bad.
Jeremiah 24:3 Then said the LORD unto me, What seest thou, Jeremiah? And I said, Figs; the good figs, very good; and the evil, very evil, that cannot be eaten, they are so evil.

I really like the comparisons you give of the OT and the NT. While I was reading what you presented, I was thinking about the Samaritan woman at the well. I had heard preached at one time that Jesus was saying to the woman, from the beginning of their conversation, that she was to take His living water and give to to others to drink. "Give me to drink"

John 4:6-14 (KJV)
[SUP]6 [/SUP]Now Jacob's well was there. Jesus therefore, being wearied with his journey, sat thus on the well: and it was about the sixth hour.
[SUP]7 [/SUP]There cometh a woman of Samaria to draw water: Jesus saith unto her, Give me to drink.
[SUP]8 [/SUP](For his disciples were gone away unto the city to buy meat.)
[SUP]9 [/SUP]Then saith the woman of Samaria unto him, How is it that thou, being a Jew, askest drink of me, which am a woman of Samaria? for the Jews have no dealings with the Samaritans.
[SUP]10 [/SUP]Jesus answered and said unto her, If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water.
[SUP]11 [/SUP]The woman saith unto him, Sir, thou hast nothing to draw with, and the well is deep: from whence then hast thou that living water?
[SUP]12 [/SUP]Art thou greater than our father Jacob, which gave us the well, and drank thereof himself, and his children, and his cattle?
[SUP]13 [/SUP]Jesus answered and said unto her, Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again:
[SUP]14 [/SUP]But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.

[SUP]5 [/SUP]Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.
Psalm 37:11 (KJV)
[SUP]11 [/SUP]But the meek shall inherit the earth; and shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace.

Matthew 5:21-22 (KJV)

[SUP]21 [/SUP]Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not kill; and whosoever shall kill shall be in danger of the judgment:
[SUP]22 [/SUP]But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire.

Matthew 5:27-38 (KJV)

[SUP]27 [/SUP]Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery:
[SUP]28 [/SUP]But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.
Exodus 20:13-14 (KJV)

[SUP]14 [/SUP]Thou shalt not commit adultery.

[SUP]32 [/SUP]But I say unto you, That whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication, causeth her to commit adultery: and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery.
Deuteronomy 24:1-4 (KJV)
[SUP]1 [/SUP]When a man hath taken a wife, and married her, and it come to pass that she find no favour in his eyes, because he hath found some uncleanness in her: then let him write her a bill of divorcement, and give it in her hand, and send her out of his house.
[SUP]2 [/SUP]And when she is departed out of his house, she may go and be another man's wife.

Amen Brother, I love that passage! There's so much more in the word on this subject. It's ongoing!

One of the things that I find amazing about the Word of God is that He gives us a full picture of what something means when we read and study the whole word. He shows us what's right and what's not right. God doesn't leave us wandering or wondering... when we seek, knock and ask.

Here are a few examples of the other side of living waters:

Jeremiah 2:11 Hath a nation changed their gods, which are yet no gods? but my people have changed their glory for that which doth not profit.
Jeremiah 2:12 Be astonished, O ye heavens, at this, and be horribly afraid, be ye very desolate, saith the LORD.
Jeremiah 2:13 For my people have committed two evils; they have forsaken me the fountain of living waters, and hewed them out cisterns, broken cisterns, that can hold no water.

Jeremiah 17:13 O LORD, the hope of Israel, all that forsake thee shall be ashamed, and they that depart from me shall be written in the earth, because they have forsaken the LORD, the fountain of living waters.

Jesus confirms the Mosaic Law by explaining the depth and perfection of the law from the very beginning. I like the passages in Jeremiah, especially chapter 17 verse 3. It reminds me of an article that my wife and I read last night. It's called "Mark of the Beast". It's heavy, but when done, it is simple to understand really. Not for babes or the unlearned for sure. Not for those that reject the Pentateuch or the Torah. I don't necessarily agree with all of what is presented, but the main point is somewhat comforting, and enlightening to say the least. If you would like it, mail me in CC, and I'll give you the link.

This is not a different instruction given by Jesus. What He is doing is rightly defining the truth as it was in the beginning. In other words, don't make vain promises that you might not be able to keep.

Matthew 5:33
(KJV)
[SUP]33 [/SUP]Again, ye have heard that it hath been said by them of old time, Thou shalt not forswear thyself, but shalt perform unto the Lord thine oaths:
Leviticus 19:12 (KJV)
[SUP]12 [/SUP]And ye shall not swear by my name falsely, neither shalt thou profane the name of thy God: I am the LORD.
Numbers 30:2 (KJV)
[SUP]2 [/SUP]If a man vow a vow unto the LORD, or swear an oath to bind his soul with a bond; he shall not break his word, he shall do according to all that proceedeth out of his mouth.
Deuteronomy 23:21-22 (KJV)
[SUP]21 [/SUP]When thou shalt vow a vow unto the LORD thy God, thou shalt not slack to pay it: for the LORD thy God will surely require it of thee; and it would be sin in thee.
[SUP]22 [/SUP]But if thou shalt forbear to vow, it shall be no sin in thee.

Matthew 5:34-35
[SUP]34 [/SUP]But I say unto you, Swear not at all; neither by heaven; for it is God's throne:
[SUP]35 [/SUP]Nor by the earth; for it is his footstool: neither by Jerusalem; for it is the city of the great King.
Isaiah 66:1 (KJV)
[SUP]1 [/SUP]Thus saith the LORD, The heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool: where is the house that ye build unto me? and where is the place of my rest?

Matthew 5:36-37
[SUP]36 [/SUP]Neither shalt thou swear by thy head, because thou canst not make one hair white or black.
[SUP]37 [/SUP]But let your communication be, Yea, yea; Nay, nay: for whatsoever is more than these cometh of evil.

James 4:14-17 (KJV)
[SUP]14 [/SUP]Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.
[SUP]15 [/SUP]For that ye ought to say, If the Lord will, we shall live, and do this, or that.
[SUP]16 [/SUP]But now ye rejoice in your boastings: all such rejoicing is evil.
[SUP]17 [/SUP]Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.

Well, Jesus certainly quotes a fair bit of David, for sure. I just don't get what it is that you think you're proving by posting these pairs of Scriptures. The relationship between each is rather vague, and doesn't really prove anything. You'd be much better off trying to make your point specifically from those places where Scripture is quoted, rather than from where you think there is some tenuous link.

To demonstrate the problem, think about this - both Sleeping Beauty and the Bible talk about kingdoms. Therefore, they must be part of the same work, and are making exactly the same point. Do you see the point? You need to prove something a little more than simple word association - you need to demonstrate WHY that association is particularly significant in the respective CONTEXTS in which they are used, and you THEN NEED to show why that given association proves the point you are trying to make (something along the lines of the OLD Testament and New Testament are one contiguous text, therefore Jesus taught people to uphold the Mosaic Law, therefore we should uphold the Mosaic Law in its entirety)

Here are some scriptures from throughout the bible, About the bible itself.

Psalms 45:1 My heart is inditing a good matter: I speak of the things which I have made touching the king: my tongue is the pen of a ready writer.

1 Kings 8:53 For thou didst separate them from among all the people of the earth, to be thine inheritance, as thou spakest by the hand of Moses thy servant, when thou broughtest our fathers out of Egypt, O LORD God.

Jeremiah 36:4 Then Jeremiah called Baruch the son of Neriah: and Baruch wrote from the mouth of Jeremiah all the words of the LORD, which he had spoken unto him, upon a roll of a book.

Jeremiah 36:2 Take thee a roll of a book, and write therein all the words that I have spoken unto thee against Israel, and against Judah, and against all the nations, from the day I spake unto thee, from the days of Josiah, even unto this day.

Exodus 31:18 And he gave unto Moses, when he had made an end of communing with him upon mount Sinai, two tables of testimony, tables of stone, written with the finger of God.

Revelation 1:11 Saying, I am Alpha and Omega, the first and the last: and, What thou seest, write in a book, and send it unto the seven churches which are in Asia; unto Ephesus, and unto Smyrna, and unto Pergamos, and unto Thyatira, and unto Sardis, and unto Philadelphia, and unto Laodicea.

Isaiah 30:8 Now go, write it before them in a table, and note it in a book, that it may be for the time to come for ever and ever:

2 Samuel 23:2 The Spirit of the LORD spake by me, and his word was in my tongue.

2 Timothy 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
2 Timothy 3:17That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.

Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

The above verse is amazing to me. When we hear and read the word, even our thoughts and intents of the hearts are discerned.

Another word to study that goes right along with these verses, for anyone interested, would be, "it is written."

This thread was started so that those of us who want to be edified as in Romans 14:19 (KJV)
[SUP]19 [/SUP]Let us therefore follow after the things which make for peace, and things wherewith one may edify another.
can do so. God's Word is all that is being proven - we have NOTHING to prove by our posts. However, if you want to argue and deliberately ignore the above scripture by creating contention, there are lots of other threads where that is the normal modus operandi (method of operation).

Hi Just us 2. I'm sorry if it appears I was setting out to create contention - that was not my intent! However, it was clear from the OP that this thread is setting out to try and make a certain point about the relationship of the entire Mosaic Law to the teaching of Jesus, and then to the life of the individual Christian. The OP has set out to prove their point by quoting Scripture. I am simply seeking to test that teaching, and to see if it is indeed suitable for the edification of God's people. If you're just quoting Scripture for no reason other than to quote Scripture, that is fine. But that is not what this thread is seemingly about :) Perhaps it would be best to rename the thread and the OP, if so, to avoid confusion.

As for 'ignoring Scripture' that is precisely what I am trying NOT to do. If I said anything wrong in my previous post, please show me! I am willing to be corrected, but I will need you to engage with my post, instead of simply saying I'm wrong :)

I imagine that if I were to post a thread you disagreed with, you would chime in and correct me, if I were wrong. That, after all, part of what the Body of Christ exists for - mutual correction and edification. I would expect nothing else - it is critically important that we teach what is right, and flee from what is false. If, however, you are determined to carry on in this topic of discussion amongst yourselves, I will butt out, even though I am not persuaded, and disagree with your interpretation.

Peace :)

I see a relationship of the Levitical Law in respect to the eating of the sacrifice. To eat of the sacrifice was symbolic of the New Covenant that Christ would endorse after His resurrection. To eat of the sacrifice after the third day was a symbolic rejection of God's intent through Christ from the very beginning of time. Therefore consuming the flesh (relating to man's iniquity that Christ bore on the cross) in relation to the time that Jesus was in the grave, was good. When he rose from the dead, the destruction of the flesh was complete, no more to be done, for we have a High Priest that will never die. The Spiritual part still remains in its fullness, and the physical part is past.

Matthew 16:21 (KJV)

[SUP]21 [/SUP]From that time forth began Jesus to shew unto his disciples, how that he must go unto Jerusalem, and suffer many things of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised again the third day.

Leviticus 7:18 (KJV)

[SUP]18 [/SUP]And if any of the flesh of the sacrifice of his peace offerings be eaten at all on the third day, it shall not be accepted, neither shall it be imputed unto him that offereth it: it shall be an abomination, and the soul that eateth of it shall bear his iniquity.

These next three scriptures clarify that God has looked on the iniquity of the human race the same from the beginning of time. He has, however, always provided a way to escape that quality of fleshly human desire. Today that escape is finalized through Christ Jesus, but the will of God has always been the same. The rituals of the physical are past, yet the principles of the Spirit of God have never changed. And to remember His ways, is of great importance for today.

Psalm 6:8-10 (KJV)

[SUP]8 [/SUP]Depart from me, all ye workers of iniquity; for the LORD hath heard the voice of my weeping.
[SUP]9 [/SUP]The LORD hath heard my supplication; the LORD will receive my prayer.
[SUP]10 [/SUP]Let all mine enemies be ashamed and sore vexed: let them return and be ashamed suddenly.

Psalm 141:9-10 (KJV)
[SUP]9 [/SUP]Keep me from the snares which they have laid for me, and the gins of the workers of iniquity.
[SUP]10 [/SUP]Let the wicked fall into their own nets, whilst that I withal escape.

Matthew 7:21-23 (KJV)
[SUP]21 [/SUP]Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
[SUP]22 [/SUP]Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
[SUP]23 [/SUP]And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

I am simply seeking to test that teaching,

If you came to this thread to “test” the scripture that clearly proves that the New Testament wasn’t in effect until the death burial and resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, then you are in the wrong thread. If you came into this thread to try to separate the teachings of Jesus Christ from the Old Testament you are in the wrong place. Any rhetoric of that sort would be a clear violation of the truth through Christ Jesus. If you do not believe that Jesus’ teachings were mostly during the time of the Old Testament, and you would like to dispute that, you are denying the truth of the Word.

Hebrews 9:16-17 (KJV)
[SUP]16 [/SUP]For where a testament is, there must also of necessity be the death of the testator.
[SUP]17 [/SUP]For a testament is of force after men are dead: otherwise it is of no strength at all while the testator liveth.
1 Corinthians 10:9 (KJV)
[SUP]9 [/SUP]Neither let us tempt Christ, as some of them also tempted, and were destroyed of serpents.
Numbers 21:9 (KJV)
[SUP]9 [/SUP]And Moses made a serpent of brass, and put it upon a pole, and it came to pass, that if a serpent had bitten any man, when he beheld the serpent of brass, he lived.
1 Corinthians 10:22 (KJV)
[SUP]22 [/SUP]Do we provoke the Lord to jealousy? are we stronger than he?

There is no argument between any portion of scripture with any other because if there was, it would mean God opposes Himself, which is absurd. So, if that type of conversation is your preference, you would be much more content in another thread…maybe even start your own so you can call it whatever you want to.

and to see if it is indeed suitable for the edification of God's people.

Just a bit of friendly advice here: you might want to be a little more humble concerning the wisdom you perceive yourself to possess when it comes to what is "suitable for the edification of God's people" because much is said about learning from one's elders and respecting them as well as keeping in mind this scripture. Although it was written regarding leaders in the church, obviously, it is good advice for all God's children.

1 Timothy 3:6 (KJV)
[SUP]6 [/SUP]Not a novice, lest being lifted up with pride he fall into the condemnation of the devil.

If you came to this thread to “test” the scripture that clearly proves that the New Testament wasn’t in effect until the death burial and resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, then you are in the wrong thread. For starters, the New Testament is strictly speaking a collection of books, detailing events and teaching hundreds of years after the last of writings of the Old Testament were completed. IF you mean the new covenant, that's a different matter, but I'm genuinely interested in hearing why it is important to how we live that the new covenant only came into play at the moment of Jesus' death. What changed at that point that is important? What is the point you are trying to teach by it?

I do not believe Scripture argues with itself. :) But some parts are still binding, some not, some parts are binding for Gentiles, some not. The whole tenor of the book of Hebrews, not to mention Paul and even Jesus Himself, is that in Christ God is bringing and has brought about a new age, in which the Gentiles are welcomed openly into God's kingdom, and where God's Spirit is openly poured out on all his people. So there is no argument, but there is change, would you agree? Christ is the fulfillment of what was but a shadow in the Old Testament.

As before, I'm more than happy for people to engage with my earlier post (or this one, for that matter) and tell me why my reasoning is faulty. If correction is needed, than please correct! :)

I'm sorry again if I seem less than humble here in the forum. I assure you, my intention is not just to be contrarian. However, you would agree, of course, that it is important to test teaching, in all truth and love? Am I to simply accept your teaching because you are older than me? Or can I pay due diligence to my elders, respecting their longer years, while still also being careful to measure what is said against Scripture, and against what my own elders teach whom I serve under and beside? Can we not both recognise that when we are truly in Christ, rebuke and correction is out of love and a desire for truth, and there is no fear in love. It is easy to forget that when speaking to blocks of text instead of actual people :) but let us assume the best of intentions in each other, yes?

1 Timothy 3:6 (KJV)
[SUP]6 [/SUP]Not a novice, lest being lifted up with pride he fall into the condemnation of the devil.

Can I ask what you think novice here means?

While we're quoting 1 Timothy, here is another relevant passage:

1 Timothy 4:11-16 (ESV)

Command and teach these things. Let no one despise you for your youth, but set the believers an example in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, in purity. Until I come, devote yourself to the public reading of Scripture, to exhortation, to teaching. Do not neglect the gift you have, which was given you by prophecy when the council of elders laid their hands on you. Practice these things, immerse yourself in them, so that all may see your progress. Keep a close watch on yourself and on the teaching. Persist in this, for by so doing you will save both yourself and your hearers.

After our son’s funeral, I was driving to work the next morning before dawn in my pickup, and The Spirit of God said to me; “My yoke is easy, and My burden light”. I yelled at Him with tears and screamed back at Him, repeating His words and then said to Him, "What in heaven's name do you mean? That is not true!!!" He then showed me a picture of my grandfather's horses pulling side by side, sweating with white foam, steam blowing from their nostrils, digging up the soil with their hooves in perfect step, the leader on the right side, the follower on the left, following the furrow with perfection, and pulling together to get the job done.

Jesus is there with you in the valley. He feels your pain. Never forget.....
Hebrews 4:15 (KJV)
[SUP]15 [/SUP]For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.

Matthew 8:16-17 (KJV) [SUP]16 [/SUP]When the even was come, they brought unto him many that were possessed with devils: and he cast out the spirits with his word, and healed all that were sick:
[SUP]17 [/SUP]That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying, Himself took our infirmities, and bare our sicknesses.

Isaiah 53:4 (KJV)
[SUP]4 [/SUP]Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.

Isaiah 53:5 (KJV)
[SUP]5 [/SUP]But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.

Hosea 14:2 (KJV)
[SUP]2 [/SUP]Take with you words, and turn to the LORD: say unto him, Take away all iniquity, and receive us graciously: so will we render the calves of our lips.

Calves.... Heberew 'par' =as a split hoof, breaking forth in wild strength. Pictorial meaning=mouth,thoughts..... Spirit of life, as in breathing a divine force of illumination, speaking the movement of destruction and generation.

Matthew 9:9-13 (KJV)
[SUP]9 [/SUP]And as Jesus passed forth from thence, he saw a man, named Matthew, sitting at the receipt of custom: and he saith unto him, Follow me. And he arose, and followed him.
[SUP]10 [/SUP]And it came to pass, as Jesus sat at meat in the house, behold, many publicans and sinners came and sat down with him and his disciples.
[SUP]11 [/SUP]And when the Pharisees saw it, they said unto his disciples, Why eateth your Master with publicans and sinners?
[SUP]12 [/SUP]But when Jesus heard that, he said unto them, They that be whole need not a physician, but they that are sick.
[SUP]13 [/SUP]But go ye and learn what that meaneth, I will have mercy, and not sacrifice: for I am not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.

Matthew was labeled as the worst of the worst among the children of Israel, for he collected taxes from the Jews for the Gentile Romans. This exhortation that Jesus gave to Matthew was in line with the commandments of God. Sacrifices were for the forgiveness of wrong doing according to God's divine will. If there is no sin, then there is no need for sacrifice. It is clear that this has been God's will from the beginning.

Hosea 6:4-7 (KJV)
[SUP]4 [/SUP]O Ephraim, what shall I do unto thee? O Judah, what shall I do unto thee? for your goodness is as a morning cloud, and as the early dew it goeth away.
[SUP]5 [/SUP]Therefore have I hewed them by the prophets; I have slain them by the words of my mouth: and thy judgments are as the light that goeth forth.
[SUP]6 [/SUP]For I desired mercy, and not sacrifice; and the knowledge of God more than burnt offerings.
[SUP]7 [/SUP]But they like men have transgressed the covenant: there have they dealt treacherously against me.

If we understand a wider view of the Bible, we can see that Judah and Ephraim represent the entire population of the world.

Ezekiel 37:15-19 (KJV)
[SUP]15 [/SUP]The word of the LORD came again unto me, saying,
[SUP]16 [/SUP]Moreover, thou son of man, take thee one stick, and write upon it, For Judah, and for the children of Israel his companions: then take another stick, and write upon it, For Joseph, the stick of Ephraim, and for all the house of Israel his companions:
[SUP]17 [/SUP]And join them one to another into one stick; and they shall become one in thine hand.
[SUP]18 [/SUP]And when the children of thy people shall speak unto thee, saying, Wilt thou not shew us what thou meanest by these?
[SUP]19 [/SUP]Say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I will take the stick of Joseph, which is in the hand of Ephraim, and the tribes of Israel his fellows, and will put them with him, even with the stick of Judah, and make them one stick, and they shall be one in mine hand.

God has done all that is necessary for the entire world to come to Him. All information has been given and is at our disposal.

Romans 10:15 (KJV)
[SUP]15 [/SUP]And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!

WOW! Thank you. I have never seen a comparison as you have presented. This is very interesting.
