jesus' disciples omitted sabbath keeping from their advice to gentile christians...
paul called the sabbath a shadow...
jesus never commanded anyone to keep the sabbath even as he reiterated the rest of the commandments...
the bible even says flat out that jesus broke the sabbath...
sabbath keeping for christians is not a biblical doctrine...and historically every church that teaches it has either adopted serious heresy or entirely lapsed into judaism...it is a 'red flag' for a spirit of confusion...
And yet we read...
Heb 4:9 There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God.
for rest here is Sabbatismos and means a keeping of the Sabbath.
The Diaglott has it...
Heb 4:9 Therefore remains a keeping of a sabbath for the people of the God.
Let's see what Paul did in Antioch (a Gentile city)....
Act 13:42 And when the Jews were gone out of the synagogue, the Gentiles besought that these words might be preached to them the next sabbath.
Act 13:43 Now when the congregation was broken up, many of the Jews and religious proselytes followed Paul and Barnabas: who, speaking to them, persuaded them to continue in the grace of God.
Act 13:44 And the next sabbath day came almost the whole city together to hear the word of God.
Now why didn't Paul tell these Gentiles that Sunday was now the day? Why did he continue to teach weekly on the Sabbath to these Gentiles?
How about in Philippi (Another Genitle city)...
Act 16:12 And from thence to Philippi, which is the chief city of that part of Macedonia, and a colony: and we were in that city abiding certain days.
Act 16:13 And on the sabbath we went out of the city by a river side, where prayer was wont to be made; and we sat down, and spake unto the women which resorted thither.
Again, why didn't Paul instruct these folks about Sunday instead of preaching to them on the Sabbath?
What was Paul's manner?
Act 17:2 And Paul,
as his manner was, went in unto them, and three sabbath days reasoned with them out of the scriptures,
Why wasn't his manner to reason with them on Sunday. If Sunday was the day, why didn't Paul set the example? Why did he continue on the Sabbath?
Act 18:1 After these things Paul departed from Athens, and came to Corinth;
Act 18:4 And he reasoned in the synagogue every sabbath, and persuaded the Jews and the Greeks.
Here he is again in a Gentile city (Corinth) persuading Jews and Gentiles. Why didn't he EVER set anybody straight about the Sabbath being done away?
BECAUSE IT WAS NEVER DONE AWAY.
