We could have two Bible forums, where each group could freely speak their own topics without drawing fiery debate from the other side.
Bible Discussion Forum - Cessationist

Bible Discussion Forum - Continuationist

OR

Cessationist Bible Discussion Forum
Continuationist Bible Discussion Forum

I think this might solve our problem in the BDF. Those causing trouble in the wrong forum can then be automatically labeled as a troublemaker and dealt with accordingly.

I believe if each group has their own forum, they would end up being more members coming to both because:
  1. MANY stay away from it due to fighting between these two groups.
  2. Each group could sufficiently explain their beliefs to those of their forums without interruption and opposition.
I believe this could bring a great deal of peace to our forums and promote more people to stay on CC. This can be a win/win situation for all of us.

There would still be problems and struggles! I guess. But may be a really good idea. At least you are bringing it up. I never thought about it that way. Sorry my english is not so good. But thanks for posting your idea.

1. Having two forums would not stop debate and argumentation.

There are HUNDREDS of various doctrinal issues to debate...
so people in each forum would still debate just as much.

2. Debate and discussion of doctrine is a healthy practice for the body of believers.

The Bereans searched the scripture in order to discuss, and discern, and distinguish truth from error.
Debate isn't always fun, and it isn't always needed every minute, over every little thing...
but as a general rule it IS beneficial to the body of believers.

3. "Peace" on the forum doesn't require the absence of debate.
Peace would come to the forums if people would debate more respectfully.

Stephen,

As you can see right now, I'm trying to disagree with you "respectfully".
It isn't so painful when people do it politely.

I agree with the 2 Bible Discussion Forums, but I would seperate them as such:

One for those who are right

One for those who are wrong!

Can be wrong? :D

OP: Good thought to reduce "fighting", but:

People who want to argue will still visit other forums
The idea of debate is to view more than one side of something

There's a lot more disagreements than just continuationist and cessationists.....I really don't think it would put a dent in the issue you speak of......Heated debates are just a given here.

I bet if people went and spread the gospel they wouldn't have time to sit in a chat room and talk about what may or may not exist.
Besides that there are several unused rooms.

just tell them to go to the singles room and argue.

Many of them won't go to the chat rooms.
Then what is the point of making two? You answered your whole post right here.
People on the internet love soapboxes, they love an audience and they love to mow people down with their Gatling gun theology.

There is rarely every a conversation that doesn't die when it is suggested to take place in another room.

I don't know why you keep talking about chat rooms. You're obviously lost in the conversation.

Careful what you wish for.

I remember a blog once. They decided to start a thread and leave out all the heathens and athiests. It was painfully boring and died a premature death.

There are a lot of topics fought over in the bible forum. You could do this. But those people would still end up fighting over another difference. Then we'd have to split the forums for that. And they would fight, and another split.......

Forum/chat whatever....it's all been done on here. People don't want to reach a conclusion they just want to be right and heard. Why else would there be 175 of the same thread topics every day on the forum.

Threads die when you don't respond....so just don't respond.

I think it would be good to have two Bible forums but I would have the 2nd in a different format. Maybe a questions and answer format run by some mods? To have two forums where in the current format would end up both the same the 2nd would have to be a different format. Some people are turned off by the debating though.

Its funny how many people make suggestions designed to put more work on the mods.

Baaahahaha!

In all seriousness though, if every one agreed on everything what would we debate?

Yea, and while we're at it make separate forums for ALL the different denominations etc... and some more when they decide to split up in even more 'ONE true churches of Christ.' lol
