Once nine of us sat in a circle. One whispered about something that happened to the one sitting beside him. This story was whispered to each until the end of the circle when they told what the story was. There was little similarity to the original story.

We read the bible like that. I am studying bible with lessons given by a man who dedicates his life to clearing out all the stories about what it says, and does his best to just zero in on what God says only. He also teaches so nothing he says disagrees with anything said in other parts of scripture, for God is one. Reading bible this way includes as much unlearning of principles I have been told as learning what God says. An example is "God is love" "The law kills" "we must obey" and all the bible says about law. You read on this forum the way humans scramble all these so one person says it is this way for this trumps everything, and no it is another way. This man says that it is the way of God, no other, and all scripture fits together.

The church almost from the first started with Constantine's rules of just get rid of anything the Jews say or do as a basic stand for reading scripture and worship. Scripture and Paul gives us guidelines for that, but the church reads these through the opinions of Constantine. In Hebrews is the word obsolete, so by golly, lets obsolete.

Listening to God and not man is difficult and complicated. Man has so stirred around with scripture.

Not everyone here is a Christian.
True, so that exempts you from the weirdness in the Christian Church that Jason is referring to.

All other things being equal, I suppose that's a good thing for ya!:p

My friend we are at war. More than you know. The church as we know it has rejected the cross and embraced the world. The motto is we must be like the world to win it. All that does is put money in the bank. That money is about to fail. The only thing holding this nation together is our generosity to the gospel and that is waning. The baby boomers are almost gone, and from what I see going on in our churches today. There is little gospel left. The world has taken over most of our churches and our children will destroy it because they have not been taught holiness. They have been taught to shake it and as long as the word Jesus is in the song then it is okay. They have been taught that intimacy is nothing but a good time and that homosexuality is just a part of life and totally acceptable.

But I have read the end of the book and we win so keep fighting and never ever give up. Praise God!!.
it's sad to see though.. people worshipping god and leaving him out the front door and won't let him in, that's why the churches are how they are today.. not filled with the holy spirit to give the people what they looking for to build up their faith... it's like everyone is going through a motion and like going church for church sake.. it's so sad to see it really is, what's even more sad is people become trapped in a denominations and wouldn't want to be kicked out of a church by the denomination.. well i would like to say i wouldn't mind being hated by people for standing for the truth of my lord and savior, i actually say this for my self when i was younger about 14 or 15 wasn't a born again christian then but i still knew some stuff but i went to church with a friend and there was a woman preaching and i told him " you know the bible said a women isn't suppose to preach" and he said idk but we then went to an elder of the church i was attending and ask the elder that same question and he said yes it is true. The women should keep silent in the churches. For they are not permitted to speak, but should be in submission, as the Law also says. If there is anything they desire to learn, let them ask their husbands at home. For it is shameful for a woman to speak in church. [h=3]1 Corinthians 14:34-35 can you believe that? some people actually know the truth but don't want to reveal it to the people because the "denomination" will kick them out.. my goodness well that is the church of today, but i will stand and remaining standing for the truth of god for he set me free and saved a sinner like me and made me whole when i was down and lost i would never go against his word.[/h]

“Holding fast the faithful word as he has been taught, that he may be able, by sound doctrine, both to exhort and convict those who contradict” (Titus 1:9).

I have noticed that there is a lot of strange stuff getting posted on here. Universalism, modelism, thinking the mark of the beast is worshiping on Sunday , chipping your animals make you take the mark. People that believe eve had sex with the devil, and people that do not believe in the trinity. I know there are much more. Remember the dude that said the New Testament was not the bible. This site makes me worry about the state of the Christian church.

I won't really say here is good representation of the church's state because like I said not everyone that comes on CC is a Christian. Some haven't even stepped into a church so we're obviously going to see some outlandish claims like atheism, universalism, etc. I also don't consider universalism part of the Christian Church but a non-Christian cult. They can camouflage as Christians all they want but they aren't.

'Strange' is relative term, what's 'weird' to some is truth to others. You should be careful to make your own ideas the standard for your fellow christians.

I'm curious what you believe yourself btw... ;)

(1 Cor. 3: 18-23)
So your curious in what I believe. I believe God is triune. We are sinners by nature and we need a new nature. When we are in Christ we get that new nature. 2 cor 5:17. We can not lose our salvation John 3:16. We are saved by faith alone. Eph 2:8,9. Only Jesus can save. John 14:6. Any other questions?

Things will get worse before they get better.

I believe we are getting closer to the great apostasy. Look at how many denominations have formed in the past 200 years. Look at how many christian cults we have and how they are growing.

Well, this right here is example of the present Christian church. There are those that believe they have the truth and then there are others that believe they have the truth, and then there are others, and others, and others, etc. And everyone calls every other belief system but their cult members (even if these people recognize and accept Christ as their savior, the only Son of God, and the only way to the Father) if they don't believe exactly as most Christians do. Again, that's the state of the Christian world today. It's perfectly disgusting. I frankly can't believe how presumptuous and pompous people are over their self-defined doctrines and interpretation of scriptures. God has not spoken to us in an audible voice telling us which denominations are right about this or that and which ones are wrong. And yet, we think any one of us has the authority to tell people they are wrong about their doctrines.

Anyone's considered a heretic by those that don't agree with his or her theology. The only things we can really work with and be certain of is how we treat others.

I say the apostasy has been here all along. I honestly believe those denominations people such as you deem cults are often the only ones that recognize this.

"Let them squirm while they can?" Wow, what a wonderful way to spread the gospel.

Or... there could be a more pragmatic view. One we can see if we employ a little wisdom.

It's this: A lot of people are acting like idiotic fools. They are spouting their mouth of, and letting their brain run away with fanciful ideas.

It's not necessarily a sign that the world is going to hell. There were fools in Jesus' time. There are fools now.

UMM Why is it a surprise? Jesus told us narrow is the way and FEW WILL FIND IT. Remember only 2 entered the promised land, eight got on the ark, four left Sodom,Elijah going against 400 prophets of Baal, does that sound like a lot or does that sound the same as when Jesus said FEW?

And didn't tell us this would happen when he said this

2 Timothy 4

4 In the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who will judge the living and the dead, and in view of his appearing and his kingdom, I give you this charge:2 Preach the word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage—with great patience and careful instruction.3 For the time will come when people will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear.4 They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths.5 But you, keep your head in all situations, endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist, discharge all the duties of your ministry.

So should it really be a surprise?
Maybe this has already happened? Does anyone consider that? Maybe the Christian church today has beliefs that are a result of this turning aside from sound doctrine. Hm. No.... let's not consider that possibility! Never consider the possibility that we could be wrong about anything...

Cults not only twist scripture but they twist history as well. They have to or history would invalidate their error. You bought their lies hook, line, and sinker. So sad.

Could it be that perhaps you yourself are wrong? Did you stop to think about that?

Shiloah is only agreeing with Paul's teachings. It is sad how many will use Paul's teachings only when it serves a personal purpose and not in general knowledge of how things were, have been and are in the assemblies of the Most High God.

That is not a veiled accusation of you, but it does describe the majority it seems. (Maybe Paul and the rest are wrong, that would be I also.)

Could it be that perhaps you yourself are wrong? Did you stop to think about that?
