I wouldn't love it. I would disapprove of the government raiding anyone's home unless they were a direct threat to someone's safety. While I believe homosexualism is a sin and should be called a sin , that doesn't give the right to anyone to wrong them. They still deserve privacy and respect , not to their lifestyle, but as fellow neighbors.

Personally I think Putin is just using the gays as a scapegoat, to distract the attention of russians from real problems in their country.

not too long ago there were people in this same forum praising putin's tough stance against homosexuality...
at the time my thought was basically that everyone should 'read the fine print' when a criminal chekist starts vocally espousing christian positions...
well the fine print has now gone into effect...and here are the results...
putin's anti homosexual position has nothing to do with what God thinks of homosexuality...it is just an excuse for more government oppression by the chekist regime...

On what basis does your suspicion rest?
At least in the United States our desire for a virtuous society does not necessarily preclude the principles of the 1st, 4th, and 5th Amendments to the Constitution.

When a group de-humanizes another group, there are obviously sadistic fascists who actually get off hurting people. Psychopaths exist in the Christian community too. I've met many, that are clearly sociopaths or psychopaths on another forum (the largest ones). Unfortunately a few are on the mod team over there.
Sociopaths are like 5% of the population, but 25% of upper management. These are people who seek out to hurt people.

I know quite a few. They slither about, and sound like snakes! They often given unbiblical advice too, and tell people to believe wrongly.

actually the link provided in the o.p does not state that the Russians are going door to door raiding gay's(plural),homes. it only reports that a lawyer(singular) who is in opposition to the laws passed in Russia was,,,,,,,

There's plenty of people here who heralded Putin as a great Christian, who totally wasn't using religion to stay in power.
Put me down for the "Don't want this to happen in my country" thread. I have been creeped out by Putin from day one of his "presidency". I'd like to repeat David's question though, because I think sometimes he overestimates certain things. Is there anyone here who would like to see this done in their country?
I'll go on record and say I absolutely don't want this to happen. I want gay citizens to have all the rights I do, so I don't want stormtroopers kicking my door in to question my bedroom habits.
So obviously we have to draw lines or boundaries. The more I expect the government to police the sins of others, the more I get policed myself.
If that's left wing, then I'm left wing.

Not me. I realize you're not an American David but if the "progressive liberals" and neo-conservatives continue undermining our 1st, 2nd, and 4th Constitutional amendment rights we could see this someday happening to conservative Christians, people who choose to continue following the Constitution after it's been denuded, and eventually the very liberals engaging in the undermining at some point in the future when the pendulum swings back right here in the U.S..
It's always such a temptation to denude people's liberty to bully your political enemies (exactly what we see the Democrats engaging in presently), but it always comes back to haunt at a later date.
The right thing to do is have a strong 1st, 2nd, and 4th amendment and then everyone's protected from this sort of thing!

At least that's what I'd say if I was a liberal.
Putin's behavior is... disturbing, to say the least. But I agree with the OP in that there are probably a lot of "Christians" who would agree with it (for the time being) because it's against a group that they hate (and I do use the word hate). I don't condone the sin or the lifestyle, but I don't hate any one as it's decidedly unchristian.
To say it another way, I have a feeling people would also be happy if Putin was doing this to say, muslims or atheists.

Psychopaths and sociopaths exist in ANY community, so probably also in the 'christian community,' whatever that may be. However, that doesn't give you the right to ask christians IN GENERAL if they would 'enjoy' seeing the houses of gays raided. The question suggests a relatively high percentage of 'christians' is indeed mentally deranged. As such I find this question highly judgemental (especially towards conservative christians), offensive and out of order.
