Well said, JJ, and, it should go for 'giving prophecies,' too.

My big question is always this: WHY do I need to prophesy in my life or hear prophesies of things to come in my life ? I don't EXCEPT when the Lord speaks one to me, which is few and far between in my life, like once, WHEN i WAS ON A TRIP WITH A BUDDY TO FLORIDA, CROSS COUNTRY DRIVING FROM WASHINGTON STATE AND A GUY IN MONTGOMERY ALABAMA, while we were getting gas at station at 10 pm, PROPHESIED i WOULD DIED BY AGE 25.

nOW, i NEARLY died that very night, falling asleep at the wheel around 2am (buddy and I young, taking turns driving, we made Seattle to Florida in 55 hours, a slow way to get there, way back was 50 hours ) , waking up only after car hit the dirt off the pavement. If that road would have been smooth, the chances I still here not good. Also, at age 25, I didn't almost die physically but spirituallly I was in trouble in my life, with things of money getting me away from God and that success God plowed into , to likely keep me thinking rightly of what He wanted me in life to think of.

Think it all what you want. This is not exactly biblical prophecy but it is personal prophecy someone did against my life and EVERYONE can think of things said to them as true or not, but, then again, everyone can think of what Christ siad true or not true The Lord leads. Believe. Receive. Have

That's not really a prophecy, as prophecy should be a restating of the existing word of God and I'm not sure "you will die by 25" is scripture. This was more a word of wisdom, of warning and leading. Just like the guy who told me I'd stop attending a certain church after 6 months because I hadn't found any friends there. And 6 months later I quit. It wasn't a prophecy but it sure was wise!

The ten horns (future kings) of Revelation 17:12 are "churches" or the major religions of the world when they shall unite with the state to enforce Sunday worship in their respective countries:

"In the seventeenth of Revelation is foretold the destruction of all the CHURCHES--Rev.17:1-4 quoted--who corrupt themselves by idolatrous devotion to the service of the papacy, those who have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication." E.G.White, Bible Commentary, vol.7, p.983.

These are the major religions of this world who will receive a kingdom for a short time with the papacy. This is the union of church and state in every country of the globe with the popular religion having the ascendancy thus making an image to the papacy.

"And the woman which you saw is that great city which reigns over the kings of the earth." Rev.17:18.

"As America, the land of religious liberty, shall unite with the papacy in forcing the conscience and compelling men to honour the false Sabbath, the people of every country of the globe will be led to follow her example." 6 T 18.

Verse 17: "For God has put it in their hearts to fulfil His purpose, to be of one mind, and to give their kingdom to the beast, until the words of God are fulfilled."

"Foreign nations will follow the example of the United States. Though she leads out, yet the same crisis will come upon our people in all parts of the world." 6 T 395.

These will give their power to the papacy, the eighth:

"Thus is represented the papal power which with all deceivableness of unrighteousness, by outside attraction and gorgeous display, deceives all nations; promising them, as did Satan our first parents, all good to those who receive its mark, and all harm to those who oppose its fallacies...

"The power which has the deepest inward corruption will make the greatest display, and will clothe itself with the most elaborate signs of power. The Bible plainly declares this covers a corrupt and deceiving wickedness. 'Upon her forehead was a name written, Mystery, Babylon the Great, the Mother of Harlots and the Abominations of the Earth.'" E.G. White, 7 B.C.983.

Verse 14: "These will make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb will overcome them, for He is Lord of lords and King of kings; and those who are with Him are called, chosen, faithful. And He said to me, 'The waters which you saw, where the harlot sits, are peoples, multitudes, nations, and tongues. And the ten horns which you saw on the beast, these will hate the harlot, make her desolate and naked, eat her flesh and burn her with fire."

This is the drying up of the "waters" upon which the Whore sits. (Rev.17:15)

The drying up of support from the people of this earth at the time of the fith plague:

"A dense blackness, deeper than the darkness of the night, falls upon the earth. (fifth plague) Then a rainbow shining with the glory from the throne of God, spans the heavens and seems to encircle each praying company. THE ANGRY MULTITUDES ARE SUDDENLY ARRESTED. THEIR MOCKING CRIES DIE AWAY.(this is the drying up of the River Euphrates proper) The objects of their murderous rage are forgotten. "The people see that they have been deluded. They accuse one another of having led them to destruction; but all unite in heaping their bitterest condemnation upon the ministers. Unfaithful pastors have prophesied smooth things; they have led their hearers to make void the law of God and to persecute those who would keep it holy. Now, in their despair, these teachers confess before the world their work of deception...

"The multitudes (waters of Rev.17:15; River Euphrates of these last days) are filled with fury. 'We are lost!' they cry, 'and you are the cause of our ruin,' and they turn upon the false shepherds. The very ones that once admired them most will pronounce the most dreadful curses upon them. The very hands that once crowned them with laurels will be raised for their destruction. The swords that were to slay God's people are now employed to destroy their enemies. Everywhere there is strife and bloodshed." The Great Controversy, pp.636,656.

This is the judgment of the great whore at the time of the drying up of her support. This is the "angel of death" of Ezekiel 9.

The prophet Daniel spoke of this in these words: "He--the papacy--shall come to his end, and no one shall help him." Daniel 11:45.

This is the complete and final drying up of the River Euphrates which brings the total destruction of Babylon the Great and thus the way is prepared for Christ to return with ten thousands of His saints! Jude 14; Ezekiel 43:2.

These are the true Kings of the East!

the city of bablyon will be rebuilt and the UN will move there

Prophetic voice then, rickZee, and, that, to me, anyway, makes it prophesying, telling something of the future.

And, it was not something I meant to do on purpose but that time I fell asleep at the wheel, in my 44 years of living, is the ONE TIME in all my life that I can say that if I had not opened my eyes at the time I did in another 2nd I would have been dead. The Lord's led me a charmed life, I guess, but that's the scariest time for me of thinking I was so close to death, in all my years living. Sure, I had a couple other times where I was in jeopardy of dying, like witness to a guy in inner city Tacoma when I was helping feed homeless of streets and had just walked off on my own to meet people. Turned out I met the leader of the homeless and he was showing me a karate move and he had my head in a headlock showing me and he kept me in it a few seconds but then let go. It was hard for me to tell exactly what was going on there, maybe, I read too much into that, he was a nice guy but he came to eat at the mission set up and it was obvious he was well respected by the homeless and had that leadeship status.

But, yeah, just about died, THAT NIGHT I was predicted to die by 25I was driving 75-80 mph when I closed my eyes, nodded off, only to be woken (thank God ! ) by the car going from pavement to dirt road . I don't give the dirt road credit for waking me up, I give it to God. All glory to God.

I think modern prophets speak directly to the church individually, not nation/worldwide all the time like back in the day...

I totally understand your point and am not looking to nit-pick. But for the sake of the legalists on this site who deny prophecy exists due to it's faux tie to fortune-telling, I think in this subject we need to be a little more accurate in discerning a word of prophecy from a word of wisdom.

I mean, I know you know the difference, but there are some here who don't and they need to learn it.
