It seems like the forums experience waves of certain types of threads- currently, this forum is sorta dead-ish, and I suspect it's because of the rash of a particular type of thread. That, or everyone went out and got lives...you bums...

Ahem. Sorry. I'm drinking an orange flavored Gatorade, and it tastes strongly of pickle juice. That's my excuse for any and all weirdness I'm exhibiting right now.

So anyway, I'm doing a poll to find out what types of threads people are most interested in.

Um...yeah, please wait for poll, and whatnot...

The ones that also interest me (which is why I clicked on this one :D ) are threads made by people I really like talking and interacting with and the ones that are made by people that don't like me and I don't like them either but I click on them for the heck of it. (Though as you should know you're the former, not the latter person. :p)

My favorite threads tend to be the ones that make me think or look at topics in new ways. I like reading a range of opinions. :) I typically look at all the threads except for the ones that are posted by the same person, just phrased differently (those tend to be the "why am I alone threads?" )

Hi MissCris :)

What a great poll! :)

I tend to read a mixture of threads, from serious to silly, and enjoy many of them for different reasons. I like threads in which people share their life experiences--sometimes when a person takes the time to share what they've been through, I learn something that I could not have known if the person hadn't spoken (written) about it. I like hearing things from others' points of view. You never know what difference you may make to someone--there have been many times when I was able to make a better choice in my life because someone else was brave enough to say, "I choose X, and these were the consequences--if you can help it, make a better choice." But I really only really "get" what the person is saying if they share an example from their own life.

Lately I've been wanting to write a lot of serious threads... Things such as helping a significant other who's had an abusive childhood, etc., but from my past experiences with writing about such topics before, two things seem to happen: an argument will break out because Person X will say something critical of Person Y, or the thread will disappear within an hour, which is discouraging when so much time and energy is put into the writing.

Therefore, in the meantime, I am content to just sit back and read cool threads such as this. :)

"Threads Jullianna has started" needs to be an option.

Work has really been a major drain on my time. Just really don't have the time or energy to participate since school got rolling again.

Plus, most of the recent threads have been started by newer, very young members. When you spend your day herding 12-14 year-olds, coming home and reading a 17 year-old's post about how they're going to be single FOREVER AND IT'S THE END OF THE WORLD for the umpteenth time, it just makes me want to go to bed faster. I know that it's a terrible thing to say, but it really is the truth of why I've barely been around as of late.

*hugs to the vets who are still around*

oh, shobro, don't be so mel-an-chol-y :)

The Lord leads. You follow Him, you just have to let Him lead you wherever He is wanting to, and, surely there are a zillion other threads, still, besides all the ones you think smell like Enjoli, that is, if you don't like that perfume smell on a girl :D ; I think, a lot of people should just bring up threads off of page 2 or 3 or 23 if they are not seeing anything they like.

Hearing that there are just not good threads does not compute, the variety is endless out there, I mean, we have a smorgasbord of great scented threads, a lot more than 'When a man loves a woman' variety :)

Yup. That's the "rash of a particular type of thread" I was talkin' about.

I almost want to be the jerk that revives long-dead threads...

But I won't.

...probably.

In an effort to consolidate, maybe we could combine some of these topics so that things make more sense -

"Sharing" could be its stand-alone thread.

"Need advice/Need BF or GF/Debate" often go together.

"Spiritual Matters/Deep Meaningful" seem a good fit.

"Silly/Games/I like cookies"

...and then of course "Bacon/Masturbation" would have to be paired up. We'll call it the "Masturbacon" thread..."

I haven't been around because the threads aren't interesting, or we've just recently rehashed a topic, or it's the same type of topic posted by someone else who is looking for someone to condone their sin.

And I'm tired. Really, really tired.
