OpEdNews - Article: The West Dethroned

The "New American Century" proclaimed by the neoconservatives came to an abrupt end on September 6 at the G20 meeting in Russia. The leaders of most of the world's peoples told Obama that they do not believe him and that it is a violation of international law if the US government attacks Syria without UN authorization.
 
The UN was created after World War 2 to maintain international security and develop friendly relationship between countries. Noble goals but it was hijacked by the larger countries.

One of the biggest failings of the UN is the VETO power. That is where 5 countries (and their allies) are unaccountable for their actions because they can veto any action against it. So resolutions are either dropped or watered down to be ineffective.

Meanwhile a country like Iraq will have a resolution to remove non existent WMDs and endure medical sanctions that results in the deaths of 500,000 children.

I was just looking through the list of VETO the US have done.

US vetos at the UN Security Council

1976 Condemns Israel for attacking Lebanese civilians.
1978 Condemns the Israeli human rights record in occupied territories
1979 Calls for an end to all military and nuclear collaboration with the apartheid South Africa.
1979 Calls for the return of all inhabitants expelled by Israel.
1980 Calls for the cessation of all nuclear test explosions

1982 Prohibition of chemical and bacteriological weapons. <------ well that was the time they were helping Saddam gas the Iranians

1989 Condemns USA troops for ransacking the residence of the Nicaraguan ambassador in Panama.
1989 Condemns USA support for the Contra army in Nicaragua.
1990 To send three UN Security Council observers to the occupied territories
2001 To set up the International Criminal Court.
1999 Calls on the USA to end its trade embargo on Cuba

No one has given you guys the throne to rule us. As an American you should all be shocked and appalled at such a concept.

Haha, the wording of the title is pretty ironic. Good catch.

As an American I want my country to be a guiding force for liberty abroad by standing as strong at home. The sort that expands to truly protect the lives and livelihoods from foreign with aggression and maintain enough coin to keep good folks out from under a totalitarian heel.

The sort that spreads goodwill abroad, but also recieves ire for doing the right thing when it is necessary to do so. A Pax Americana. Some would call that a throne of sorts. Leaders and citizens throughout our history have twisted and contorted that goal to make it a throne Woodrow Wilson, various neocons (again, I think the term is too nebulous to paint anyone except Irving Kristol and a few sophisticated blue dogs back in the 60's). Some had noble goals but they turned sour.

Call me crazy, but I think that sort of idyllic America did exist to some degree. The dream has not endured. As risky as vacuums are, until the United States recovers a degree of dignity and grace at hope, I will not support her intervention abroad.
 
To Drett post #4, I am a very simple person, not educated on the happenings of the UN. "US vetos" "1976 Condemns Israel for attacking Lebanese civilians." Sorry, but to me .that is as clear as MUD. Did the USA condemn Israel or did USA veto the UN's condemnation of Israel? Love to all who deserve love, condemnation to all who deserve condemnation. Hoffco

As insane as USA 's foreign policy is : We can not dare to isolate(insulate) ourselves from the world. We are still the best Christian nation in the world, but , also the most notorious. The "cult " of today's Fundamentals is part of the reason God is cursing the USA. The Chuck Swindols are polluting the world with a false "faith only" gospel. You are very young, how are you planning to "fix" the world, one person at a time, and by mass media also.? Love to those who love our Lord Jesus, Hoffco

but Pax Americana could only happen through leading by some semblance of virtuous example.
have other peoples desire to emulate what they see....by their own initiative, or to not do so, according to their own choices.
if it is mostly good, they would desire it.

a medium between isolationism and non-interventionism was the key.

but, alas...:

uh....alright.

i propose all those seeking; providing; receiving; and abetting abortions receive sentences in prison.

for murder, or conspiracy to commit murder, sentences accordingly (life or less).

including the judges who rubber-stamped it - Roe vs Wade - they each need 55 million consecutive life terms.

in one generation it would end, and murderers would be brought to justice.

radical enough?

all felons would be presented with the Gospel of forgiveness while in prison.

I plan to prop up what I can in the environment around me and simply tend the garden. That, hoffco, is what we need. Not people who desire to take over the world or march on capitals. Ultimately, we need our citizens to take responsibility of the world around them rather than looking to beg, borrow and steal their way through life.

We need a population that sings the virtues of God and constrains itself to his Laws.

Then and only then will things change for the good. I fear though that a catastrophe will be necessary to deliver such an outcome however. That is not my desire though.
 
I came up with this great idea for restoring our favor throughout the world.

My idea is called, "Cookies for World Domination."

First we nationalize the Girl Scouts, then we make all the foreign nations buy our cookies,
and then if people won't buy our cookies we set up trade embargoes, and then...
well, it gets complicated after that.

But hey, everybody likes cookies.
How could anyone not be happy?

Don't laugh. Have you ever tried to grow a peach in Siberia? There is some vital economic interest they are currently not able to exploit.

Also there is this awesome gas station on the FL-GA border that has a giant taxidermy gator. Don't use the bathroom though...

Hi Hoffco.

In regards the attacking of Lebanese civilians by the Israelis; the USA vetoing this resolution means when the UN stated that it wanted to condemn Israel for attacking Lebanese civilians, the US stated that no it would not allow that condemnation to go through. Israel is free to continue to attack Lebanese civilians with no consequence. All these Vetos have resulted in the Israel you see today. Untouchable.
