Who carried Jesus's cross up the hill or did he have help doing it or someone else carried it. And did the sky darken when Jesus was placed apon the cross? Need some fact to help me argue back a point with my son!
Thank you

And as they led him away, they seized one Simon of Cyre'ne, who was coming in from the country, and laid on him the cross, to carry it behind Jesus. Luke 23:26 RSV

[45] Now from the sixth hour there was darkness over all the land until the ninth hour.
[46] And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, "Eli, Eli, la'ma sabach-tha'ni?" that is, "My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?" Matt 27:45-46 RSV

Instead of arguing, why not pull out the 'ol Bible, dust it off and say to your son "come, let's settle this, sit down, open this book and see what is actually written about it"

Luke 14: 27 says [SUP]27 [/SUP]And whoever does not carry their cross and follow me cannot be my disciple. Jesus never tells us to o anything without first being the leader himself. That is, when He said, come follow me that is because, it was He that was giving us the example as he was showing us how in actions, words, deeds and spirit! That is why the Father sent him here in the first place to connect with us and help us so we would immitate him in all ways. He is the only one who COULD carry that cross to perfection all the way through! Now we have the Holy Spirit that He gave to each of us when accepted Him in our lives when we took Him as our personal Saviour. You cant say i accept you as Lord and then refuse to take up your own cross, for that would mean you disobey and do not really know what it means to follow Him fully and completly for to really know our Lord, means to love him with everything you have! Even until death. THAT is a true love as He did for us.. True love is not real love unless you are willing to have a sacrifice or submit under another to say, i am willing to forfiet my own desires for you. That is what Christ did for us, and that is what he is asking from each of us to do for each other, as well as for him as well...

As for the condition of the sky...

[h=3]Luke 23:44-47[/h]New Living Translation (NLT)

[h=3]The Death of Jesus[/h][SUP]44 [/SUP]By this time it was about noon, and darkness fell across the whole land until three o’clock. [SUP]45 [/SUP]The light from the sun was gone. And suddenly, the curtain in the sanctuary of the Temple was torn down the middle. [SUP]46 [/SUP]Then Jesus shouted, “Father, I entrust my spirit into your hands!”[SUP][a][/SUP] And with those words he breathed his last.
[SUP]47 [/SUP]When the Roman officer[SUP][b][/SUP] overseeing the execution saw what had happened, he worshiped God and said, “Surely this man was innocent.[SUP][c][/SUP]”

Actually, Mathew, Mark, an Luke all account for the sky darkening and the veil being torn as well as the earhquake that happened as well. Although in one book it states it more than another as one writters personal prefferance and details are in more account than another just as it is today when witnesses are present for accidents. One person might give more information than another, all acording on what each wanted to say due to their personality and so forth. But the fact remains, that they all seen and witnessed this and as well as all those who were there that day. We here now who are partakers in the Holy Spirit are also withnesses too as we know His Words do not lie and we can be assured of every promise that Jesus made. That is we are His to those who ask...

I am not sure if any of this helps you, didymos, but i tried to answer your questions the best i knew how. Jesus loves you my freind and He loves your son as well! Even if we dont quiet know Him yet, God knows us!

[h=3]John 3:16[/h]New Living Translation (NLT)

[SUP]16 [/SUP]“For God loved the world so much that he gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.

Have a blessed day!!! ;)
