I work with some young boys, one is 16. It spread allllll over work that he had a crush on me and the boy made no secret of it. He was telling people, out loud, that I was not too old for him. It made me really nervous, but thank God, I have an elderly neighbor woman with great insight. She had one child, a boy, and lived in this town for 70 years in safer days. The neighborhood boys spent most of their days at her home. Her home was the spot! She said young boys crushed on their teachers and superiors, her and her friends, all of the time. They think they're sooo pretty and wonderful and smart. It's very normal, and totally INNOCENT, and to never ever hurt them.
It's so sad that this isn't more common knowledge these days. Young folks, girls and boys, crush on their teachers and superiors. That's all it is, a crush. It won't last. All too often these days it seems the adults are taking advantage of their trust, and it's being twisted into something ugly.
I think this boy crushed on me because I began to tease him about being the only boy with 4 sisters when he first began the job. I said, "You are blessed!!" LOLZ!!! I'm his boss, it's fun teasing people. All of the young people respond positively to positive attention.
But yes, I agree, it was really really awkward before I had a better understanding of it. It's totally innocent.
