Every law is still valid as long as it is from God. Jesus did not come to break the law either, but rather to fulfill it.
Amen!. . .and AMEN! to that!It is mind boggling that some Judaizers still try to foist the Mosaic laws on us today.
Just one exception that I read about in the Old Testament. The indwelling of the Holy Spirit in the hearts of the people of God did not occur until the NT.
Well, Scripture shows "filling" not to be the same as "indwelling."Just one exception that I read about in the Old Testament.
Exodus 28:3 (KJV)
[SUP]3 [/SUP]And thou shalt speak unto all that are wise hearted, whom I have filled with the spirit of wisdom, that they may make Aaron's garments to consecrate him, that he may minister unto me in the priest's office.
Exodus 31:1-3 (KJV)
[SUP]1 [/SUP]And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
[SUP]2 [/SUP]See, I have called by name Bezaleel the son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah:
[SUP]3 [/SUP]And I have filled him with the spirit of God, in wisdom, and in understanding, and in knowledge, and in all manner of workmanship,
Proverbs 3:19-20 (KJV)
[SUP]19 [/SUP]The LORD by wisdom hath founded the earth; by understanding hath he established the heavens.
[SUP]20 [/SUP]By his knowledge the depths are broken up, and the clouds drop down the dew.
Other than that I would totally agree. Right you are.
John 4:24 (KJV)
[SUP]24 [/SUP]God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.
I don't think Jesus broke any of the Mosaic Law, for the Mosaic laws are ways we are to express love. Jesus kept the law to rest on the Sabbath, but if they were very hungry they would break the law of love. If Jesus let an ill man suffer on the Sabbath, He would break the basic law of love.Jesus did not always follow the Mosaic laws, atleast not all of it.
1) He and His disciples did break the Sabbath when they harvested grain to eat.
2) He healed on the Sabbath.
He broke these laws because it was His job to come to Earth and remove the heavy yoke of the Mosaic laws. He brought us His new yoke which light and easy to bear by fulfilling the law.
Elin, These scriptures show that the indwelling of the Holy Spirit was there even in the OT.Just one exception that I read about in the Old Testament.

Surely Acts 15 is saying that the Christians should abstain from food offered to idols, blood, strangled things, and fornication, which if they do, they will do well. It specifically mentions circumcision and the law, and that the apostles gave no such commandment to keep these. If the apostles and elders really simply meant that circumcision and the law (Moses' laws) were unnecessary for salvation, couldn't they have said something like "Now it is good for a man to be circumcised, and to keep the laws of Moses, but these are not necessary for your salvation", or similar. Instead, they totally disavow these "We gave no such commandment".Again, this isn't about salvation. If it were, you'd be right on.
just keep in mind that Jesus told His followers to follow the Mosaic Law and to teach others to do as long as we're here. Sure, Jesus told His followers to follow the spiritual understanding and application of the Law, but He also told us to follow the physical.
Well, Scripture shows "filling" not to be the same as "indwelling."
Filling with the Spirit was simply bestowing a spiritual gift, equipping a person for special service to God.
It was given to the unsaved in both the OT (Saul) and the NT (Mt 7:21-23), as well as to the saved.
Boot strapping is a cool term Elin. Never heard that before, but it's neat, really. Where does that term come from, and what does it mean? I was born on a farm and wore boots, but the only time that strapping occurred what with the belt.
what if my boots have no straps?I don't know if this is the way Elin meant it, but boot-strapping means to pull one's self up by his boot straps. In other words, complete self-reliance. That's where the phrase 'booting a computer' comes from. A computer has the on-board capability to start itself up without an operating system, and pulls itself up by its boot-straps.
All these are contained with in Yahshua's 2 GREATEST COMMANDMENTS not only, but greatest. Problem is, people transgrees these.....
"
All the law is valid. The law is a schoolmaster to bring men to Christ. Righteousness, however, comes by grace. God imputes the righteousness of Christ to us because we believe. We have the law of grace and the law of liberty in Christ. The law no longer represents condemnation to us but we can never keep the law in perfection which is what the law demands. Only Christ who finished all the work necessary for us kept the law in perfection. Believers are righteous because of grace not the law. The Holy Spirit does not teach us to live in a wanton manner. We are sober minded and circumspect in Christ but we are free of condemnation. Glory to God.
For the cause of Christ

Just stating a crux as I see it. I was thinking the other day that God has less than 700 laws, and our country has thousands. Anyway, I was joshing somewhat, but if we want to kick out the law, and not obey them, we go to jail, eventually and that makes us 'lawless'.
I agree wholeheartedly that Jesus paid it all, but then if people believe they are not responsible for their actions, there remains no more sacrifice for sins.
you are so thorough with the OT juxtaposed to the NT.
why here do you drop that passage out of context (hebrews)?
Now we just need to wait for some crazy, new, liberal translation to change that to "And your boots strapped with the preparation of the gospel of peace."OK now I found a scripture that brings peace, with my boot strapping.
Ephesians 6:15 (KJV)
[SUP]15 [/SUP]And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
