Is it biblical to pray for the removal of one's political leaders?

I have been thinking a lot about our US president, Barack Obama, and I decided that in praying for him, I would actually ask God to remove him (peaceably, of course) from the presidency. Do you think that is biblical?

He is ruining our country and he has no respect for the law. He has done several things that impeachable offenses, but no one is brave enough to pursue that for fear of being called a racist. Simply put, he is not a godly man.

I realize that the US needs revival -- BIG TIME -- so Christians need to be humbling ourselves to God, praying for revival, and asking God to heal our land.

What do you think?
 
Actually, Paul says to pray that the worlds leaders don't cause anymore harm than they normally would.
He never says to pray for their souls.
- "That we might lead a quiet life in all humility".
- - Has nothing to do with praying for their salvation, we pray that they don't cause unwarranted killing.
B.T.W. - the powers that be are much greater than the puppet king.
 
Pray and ask God about it - pray that His will be done, (on Earth as it is in Heaven).

I sometimes pray that their deeds of wickedness be exposed, and that God will be glorified in that.

Our Canadian, Aussie, UK, etc. brothers and sisters must remember that US government is based on quite a different theory of cooperation from the theory of those countries. In those countries, govenment is more of a cooperative family affair. In the US, government is supposed to be more like a corporation, hired by the people, all of whom are members of the board of directors. We are taught that each one of us has the right to have input into how the government is run, and to use whatever peaceful powers we have to influence the government in the direction we choose. That makes it our duty to pray for the removal of bad leaders, if that is what we feel should be done, as well as for the divine guidance of those in power.

Also, we should all try to remember that almost every worldwide revival and new Christian revelation since 1700AD originated in America, because this is the country that the nations of Europe chose for their great experiment of religious freedom. The fact that such removal prayer does not seem to be working, is what is causing the calls for nationwide revival that are so often voiced in America. The obvious assumption being made, is that most Americans are too far from God to respond to the replacements He is trying to make in the leadership of the government.

Vernon McGee.."God-less people cannot elect a Righteous Leader...If the people are committing adultery,we will have an adulteress for a leader,...If the people lie,...we will have a liar for a leader...and if the people steal...we will have a thief for a leader"...We reap what we sow...Repentance must come from within ourselves first..then we must stand up and be counted as "believing" christians...and then, maybe, if the Father is willing (according to his timetable) he will allow a revival to sweep thru our nation and help us to get back to our biblical foundation which we had in the past.

That is a good point, Nalo01. And, ultimately, I think that is what I mean by revival -- We as Believers must first truly come back to God on our knees, grow in grace, then and only then can true revival come to our land.

Praus, I would rather have a fool (Biden) than someone who I actually believe is trying to fundamentally corrupt our country (Obama).
 
I don't think there is a biblical verse that suggest that, However it does say pray for one another. Also you can pray against something that is not right, So maybe you can pray to God and in your prayer, you could mention your reason you have against the political leader, and come against it in prayer. and the more people pray against something, then if its God's will he will act upon it.

I have absolutely no problem with a prayer like that.
(1 Timothy 2:2) We ARE to pray for our leaders.

BUT, as nalo01 succinctly pointed out from Dr. J. Vernon McGee, our leaders are a reflection of US.
As God has pointed out (Hosea 8:4), WE sometimes blow it!

As believers, we are to strive to choose leaders who themselves will be led by God (1 Samuel 12:13)
Good luck with that one.
Prior to the last election pretty much every individual I queried in live chat said they were not even going to bother to vote!
We SHOULD be voting for those who reflect our values (Proverbs 14:34)
Believers, have a civic DUTY to vote (Matthew 22:21).
In Australia, voting is mandatory and if you do not vote a penalty is imposed. Maybe, we could use a law like that here?
93 Million Americans did NOT vote in the 2012 election. The last election might have turned out totally different if all christians had voted.

I posted that link in my thread 2 Million Bikers Vs. 1 Million Muslims but I highly doubt any followed up on it. In fact that thread itself was totally misunderstood. Some got their panties in a wad and vilified it or bikers (or me) and some got off topic completely and just seemed to be unable to comprehend the point (which was christians are apathetic and not willing to ~put themselves out there~).

We are now looking at the reality of a government that's solitary goal seems to be to drive out the name and message of Jesus Christ from the public arena. Who do we have to blame for this?

Walt Kelly summed it up short and sweet in the Pogo cartoon: "We Have Met the Enemy and He Is Us"!

The election of Baraq Obama was a national and social landmark in our country.

The first demonstrative time in our nation's history a president was elected because of the color of his skin....twice.

The first time in our nation's history a marxist was elected.

The first time in our nation's history in the last 50 years that racism has been politically and socially accepted...black against white racism.

The first time in our nation's history we are contemplating giving our government control over our health care system, a step toward socialism and nationalizing business in the USA.

I believe in the power of prayer. I know God can do anything, but the problem was not prayer, it was legs to your faith, legs to take bible believing Christ loving christians to the polls to prevent this perversion from entering the white house.

Praying for Obama is like not feeding your cows for a week, leaving the barn door open when the corn is ripe and then praying to God to grow your corn back.

I cannot comprehend why a christian would not vote.

Just to add, too many christian fell for the mormon factor of Romney so they did not vote for him. Romney was way closer to christian principles than Obama and there were huge ideological differences between the two.

We were not electing the pastor of america.
 
I would go so far to say that under circumstances it is Biblical to remove your leaders.
