For the first time in my life I am fasting... I am trying to go a full day with only water... I love food dearly, I could just sit all day and eat my body weight in any type so this is pretty hard for me...

I want to know what types of miracles God has worked in your lives or peoples around you when you fast... :)
I just think that this would be a great topic to read :p Very uplifting and nice :)

I found that whilst fasting, I was really connected with God. When I prayed, I was more focused. I started trying about 2 weeks ago :)

Good luck with your fasting! don't overdo it though make sure you know what your body can handle..I have a friend that does it every monday. She finds it necessary in her life. But for me, I tend to do it when the going gets tough and need deeper thought and greater connection with God

I tried it a couple of weeks ago for Syria, when there was the anger in the air whether America would go to war or not. I was also having anxiety problems waiting for a test result back. So I found that fasting and focusing on God and the Syrians helped me forget about myself...if you get me.....

So are you going to start a routine? Or are you going to do it randomly?

I am not sure how to answer that, on one hand I want to do it every day, like you said by throwing away the world you have more room in your heart to love God...
But I don't want to make anything with God a routine... How would you like to hang out with your friend just because it was monday you kinda felt like you had too... I want to hang out with God because I want to be around Him and love Him, not just because its a certain day or time...

So in a weird way, neither one :p

Hi, I am fasting today and tomorrow, liquids only. Miracles? Well it is a miracle I can fast, certainly not by my own power. Have to offer the fast to God then ask his help to complete it, makes it a poor gift, thinks I.

Good for you guys. I've been thinking about fasting this week. This is encouraging to me. I don't fast like I used to and I can really tell the difference. When you fast you deny your flesh and your Spiritual man just becomes stronger. I pray that the Lord will speak mightly to Voiceoftheshires and T_Laurich through their fasting.

Thats what this whole website should be full of... Not telling eachother we are wrong or incorrect 24/7 (which I have done more than my fair share of) But encouraging others to grow and strengthen in our walk with God... Please share your fast when you do it :)

:rolleyes::p

Good luck anyways ha ha

Fasting is certainly important for a Christian.......but we must be sure to include prayer.......in my opinion, fasting without prayer is of no avail..........but, that is just my opinion....... :)

Luke 21:36) Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.

Acts 12:5) Peter therefore was kept in prison: but prayer was made without ceasing of the church unto God for him. Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another; 11 .) Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord; 12 .) Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer;

James 5:13) Is any among you afflicted? let him pray. Is any merry? let him sing psalms.
14 .) Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord: 15 .) And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.
16 .) Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.

1st Timothy 2:8) I will therefore that men pray every where, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting Rejoice in the Lord alway: and again I say, Rejoice. 5 .) Let your moderation be known unto all men. The Lord is at hand. 6 .) Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.

Colossians 4:2) Continue in prayer, and watch in the same with thanksgiving;
3 .) Withal praying also for us, that God would open unto us a door of utterance, to speak the mystery of Christ, for which I am also in bonds: 4 .) That I may make it manifest, as I ought to speak. 5 .) Walk in wisdom toward them that are without, redeeming the time.
6 .) Let your speech be alway with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man.

i do fasting whenever i get the opportunity to teach children in outreach program or bootcamp. Fasting helps me boost spiritually and helps me concentrate well for teaching children God's word.

You can fast from other things also, like internet, driving, income, and so on.
And even when you don't do it on purpose, that is, during "hard times" it still seems to have effect, as long as you view it as a fast.

My experience anyways. I have fasted purposely from something very important to me and most people in general for about 30 years and it has blessed me beyond description.

Usually when I do fasting, I don't take any foods: liquid or solid. I also don't go anywhere (other than church and my room) or do any menial work during fasting. If its a general fasting, I join fasting in the church but when its my personal fasting I do it at home (studying and meditating my bible and praying). For me, when I fast I feel more connected with God and so I do fasting to renew myself spiritually. Besides that, I also used to fast before any exams (during my school/college days) or if any of my family members were/are not well (especially my mom), etc. I have personally experienced so much of God's miracles (small and big) in my life through fasting that I am strongly in for fasting for the renewing of the heart, mind and soul.

Other than that, if you would like to read or know more about God's miracle through fasting, I would recommend you to read a book titled "The heavenly man". In the book, the protagonist Brother Yun (a Chinese believer) experience God's gracious array of miracles one after the other. He had also fasted for 74 days while being convicted in the jail for His faith in Christ. The fact that he did not died even after 74 consecutive days of fasting in itself is a miracle. His testimony is quite powerful

So true, Im currently on a 40 day fast from tv and music (except sermons, worship etc). The beginning was really hard because Im in a wheelchair and Im home alot so theres not very much to do but now its alot easier. I feel more connected with God and Im learning more about Him and also myself. God is awesome and I cant wait to learn more.

I have to agree with many of the posts on fasting. When I am fasting and praying, I become a lot more sensitive to the Lord. Every time I think of food, I pray and sing to the Lord. Unanimously, everyone I know agrees that my singing is terrible, but the Lord likes it anyway lol. So when you fast and pray, get ready for how receptive you become to the Spirit of God. It is amazing. Grace and love is almost palpable.

I prayed this evening told the Lord I was feeling flabby in the Spirit. So with his blessing I will fast. He has put me on a fast that is different than any I have done before. I am to fast in watches. The Bible speaks of this like I will come in the second watch. Any way 1st watch 6-9am 2nd watch 9-12 etc.
I don't know why but he knows I need the help. So 1st watch just coffee 2nd watch bread 4 watch a meal. Please keep me in prayer while I work out this perfect fast the Lord has made for me.

I pray all of you fasting right now are finding strength and spiritual growth.

I am so very glad that God hasn't given me a fast of watches............gosh, I don't even own a watch....... (tongue firmly in cheek...... :) )

Seriously, I will pray for you.........God bless

Don't want to burst the bubble.
Nothing wrong with fasting but it doesn't make him perform miracles. It may make you feel how privelidged you are. Don't do it to try and recieve miracles, don't try and manipulate God, he doesn't fall for it.

Well, now I know why he put me on watches. Between 6-9 am (1st watch) I was going to only have coffee. So, the devil and all his tricks begins his day. I wake up at 5:30am something I never do and think good day I will wake up and have my coffee. Except this is not what the Lord said to me. Thank goodness I was listening well enough to stop go back to bed and pray and begin my fast correctly between 6 and 9. I think just for a few days he is going to keep me very watchful.

Hi brother,

Remember why we fast. Of course we to do it for God, but what can it symbolize? We can remember through our fasting that "man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God" (Matt 4:4).

So what are you brothers and sisters doing during your fastings? Anything special, like prayer I heard really goes hand at hand with fasting, or reading certain chapters in the bible, or doing a devotional plan?

I was not condoning either or... You must realize this was a thread to encourage each other. To help some people get through their fasts by talking about our Lord and our God... And showing miracles and wisdom he has granted through fasts... Because every breath we take is a gift from God!

Thing is, I don't want to be snude about this but, you never popped the bubble... I think you misread the whole thread....
