Ooooohhhh good choice!!!
Yeah, catty, that's my fave, but, I'm a very ethnic eater-out when I eat out and not cooking up top ramen at home :D

You can get a great lunch price on bento too , for about $9.99 here at a place I go, also, besides bento!, a real comfort food for me or soup rather is Sukiyaki, another place I go has it for 7.99. (and, that's weird because the lunch place I eat at for Bento also has sukiyaki for $13.99 all hours of the day and the soups taste the same to me, the expensive suke might be a little better tasting but not $6 tasting better :D )

Ya know, i'm just thinking, I'm a little mad at God right now. I think He borned me wrong, I shoulda been japanese :D

But, yeah, I love that red circular textured fish (crab?) tasting pieces in sukiyaki and the translucent stringy, rubbery, cool tasting noodles, and, napa cabbage, and, meat, and, broth and, yeah, everything about it :D Oh, I almost forgot the tofu !

GraceLikeRain says: At which point I will take my saw and cut enough banana leaves to dress myself, enabling me to use my handy sarong as a net for fishing......

I don't know about anybody else but the banana leaves things kinda peaked my interest.

Hey - I chose Mary Ann every time, gimme a break....

Just make sure that they're not poison ivy leaves instead. You DON'T want an never ending itch down there.

Hmmm. I'm not allergic to poison ivy. Maybe poison ivy would be my SECRET WEAPON. Muahahahaa...

REECE!

I am totally sorry, man. I honestly remember replying to your response that I did not make an inquiry of you, and I apologize, because sometimes I type out a multi-reply in Notepad, highlight it, and then it gets deleted before I cut-and-paste it. Then I have to do the whole thing again, and sometimes I leave out part of the intended multi-reply on the second try. I know I wrote you a question after you called me on it, because I remember the question almost word for word. (Ironically, Catlynn threw a variation of it at Grace in the last hour.)

You're on a desert island with a perpetual motion generator (for endless electricity), a TV, and a DVD player. For the rest of your life, you get ONE DVD (a single disc, not a set) of an anime. What anime is it?

Sorry that got lost in the hot mess that this thread has become, man. (Not a criticism of the thread...it's a fun hot mess.)

DUDE!! ...It's cool. You're awesome!!

What's with all these *favorites* questions?! I'm eclectic!!

Well, I suppose if I *have* to choose...then...let's see...hmm...1 DVD normally houses about 5-10 episodes depending...and it's going to be the only thing I can watch...which would be something I'd want to do for entertainment, to feel something, or as a distraction...hmm...

IF I go the centimental/depressing route (as in Slice of Life-type stuff), then either the last dvd (as in, last-however-many-episodes disc) of Clannad Afterstory or Honey&Clover...though, if I went the movie route instead of series, I'd probably take 5cm per Second or The Girl Who Leapt Through Time.

Honorable mention to series like Gintama, Summer Wars, Kanon(2006), Ano Hana, and many others...

If I went the fantasy/Sci-fi/Action-Adventure route, I'd take a dvd (any, really) from a serious like SAO, AccelWorld, Fairytail, Gundam, Samurai Champloo, yada yada 80% of all the anime in the world (of a platonic nature, all the anime in the world, anyway...)

Honorable mentions to Steins Gate, Darker than Black, Mushishi, Natsume Yujin-cho, and many Many MANY others...

If I went the shooter route, I might take something like Gungrave, Cowboy Bebop, or Trigun...

...I guess that doesn't really answer the question. You said only one, so...I can't really pick. Guess I'd find a way to trade the tv and dvd player in for a computer and satellite internet, then I could just do whatever I wanted in electronic regard. ^^

OH, I know, I got exactly the item that you can use to sew yourself a banana leaf habit !

Oh, but before you go and sew, gracey, make certain you read the clues below the pic

  1. "Leaflets three; let it be" is the best known and most useful cautionary rhyme.
  2. "Hairy vine, no friend of mine.
The following four characteristics are sufficient to identify poison ivy in most situations: (a) clusters of three leaflets, (b) alternate leaf arrangement, (c) lack of thorns, and (d) each group of three leaflets grows on its own stem, which connects to the main vine.

:D

Loveneverfails - If a friend were to visit Alaska for the first time, and had three days, where would you take them, and what would you do?
Oooh! I got a question :D Sorry it took so long for me to get to this. I have literally sat down and started answering this question 4 times now, but the last few days have been so crazy that I always get interrupted and I never get to finish. Here's hoping the 5th time's the charm? :p

Anyway, this completely depends on what time of year. Actually.. it mostly just depends on whether or not there's snow on the ground. ;)

Winter

  • Alyeska: gorgeous in both summer and winter. About an hour out of Anchorage. Prime location for multiple snow related activities like skiing or snowboarding, or even just some quality sightseeing. I try to go at least a couple times a year.
    about_alyeska.jpg
  • Chena Hot Springs: Check out the ice hotel, tour the area via dog sled, and conclude your day by soaking in hot springs while getting a stellar view of the northern lights. Need I say more? ;)
    the-hot-springs-at-chena.jpg
  • Some sort of glacier viewing experience: This depends on our budget. For a little gas money we can pretty easily access some glaciers within a few hours drive of Anchorage and explore them on foot. There are also glacier ice cave tours, and of course the famous glacier cruises.
    6585974699_c4d10598d4_z.jpg

Summer
  • Alyeska: like I said, gorgeous in the summer. One of my favorite hiking spots due to the multitude of paths.
  • Denali National Park: one does not simply visit Alaska without visiting Mt. McKinley. Makes for a great roadtrip.
    2120-healy-denali.jpg
  • Eklutna lake: Probably my favorite summer spot for hiking, biking, kayaking, and camping. The lake is surrounded by gorgeous peaks and the water is from Eklutna glacier. Cold, but mindblowingly BLUE. The photo doesn't do it justice.

However, if this friend were feeling a little lazy, we could always just sit on my back deck and spy on Russia.

Oh, most definitely, if you're eyes are green, gracey, , and, as a added bonus, it most certainly will bring out the color of your skin :D

Liamson- If you could choose a different path for your life, knowing what you know now, would you? And what would it be?

I would change so much. :)

I would have joined the Army instead of the Navy. I therefore would have been in better shape and therefore would be in better shape now too.

I would NOT have bought my Mini, I would have bought the Boxster instead.

Who to love is a hard one. I would probably still have gotten my heart broken by the same girl. That was inevitable.

I guess the biggest thing, is that I would compromise my values less for other people than I did.

Really you would choose Army? Thats interesting, most ppl I talk to say they would have chosen the Air Force because of the more career options that transfer over to civilian world. Also the luxury. If I had to choose a career in the Air Force it would have been a cryptologic linguist instead of an F-15 avionics systems spec.

For me, I would have never gone in the Air Force, it changed me completely and for the worst sadly. I also would have never bought my truck (which I ended up selling) and bought a house. I wish I would have been wise with my money.

Question for Liamson- What did you do in the Navy?

Hellooo: What's your absolute favorite thing to play on piano, that you could play over and over and never get tired of?

Loveneverfails: I saw in another thread that you like to sew! What's your favorite thing you've ever made?

Not right now, but I could in the future, the Lord leads, I have a lot to do in the next month with the work I'm doing now--a lot of investment merchandise to sell--plus, I dabble in stock market stuff now, too; my life is in His hands and I will go anywhere He wants me to go, jill, milady, this I hope and pray :D

------------------------------------------
jilly - Your background for liking to talk to those of other faiths, like Muslims, or, no faith, like atheists, about Jesus ?

Good thread, jill, cool beans :)
Thank you for that last bit, Mr. Green :)! I really enjoy these threads, and I hope nobody is too miffed that the OP is taking awhile to catch up to whatever-page-we're-on-now, as I'm trying to go in order :).

Investment merchandise? As in, you have a lot of stock to sell?

As far as sharing the Gospel with others, you specifically asked about my background on that. My dad had always told me how horrid it was to not know Jesus (Whom I had met before I developed a shocking testimony, fortunately) and to be by yourself in this world. He had grown up in a denomination, but it had never been real to him (and considering how many of them got saved after my dad became a believer, I don't think it was real to most of them either). That was a lot of the reason, but honestly, I know myself that it's important. Partly because Jesus Himself said to share with others, but partly because if you truly love someone and have their best interests at heart, you want to share life-giving/saving information with them. I don't argue with people about Jesus (IMO; everyone has a different definition of that word, it seems), but I do want everyone to know that there is hope and that Someone loves them, even enough to die for them, and that there are wonderful eternal rewards for following the One Who showed this love :). After all, it's the least we can do for Him, paying it forward and all ... :).

You can demonstrate this by singing Amazing Grace to yourself, and you'll find tiny crests of dissonance resolving to small moments of release (creating small musical phrases), as well a large build to a moment of high tension, and a slow release to consonance (a large, overarching harmonic phrase, or complete musical thought.

Six sentences! But now I will show you how to demonstrate this yourself, how the concept of consonance and dissonance build harmonic motion, which in turn, creates phrases.

Sing the first verse, and note how the tones build and release for short phrases:

Amazing grace, how sweet the sound / That saved a wretch like me
I once was lost, but now am found / Was blind, but now I see.

Overall consonance
Slight dissonance
Slight consonance
Highest point of dissonance

So, the pattern in which the melody and the chords are placed creates forward motion. Hopefully that example makes the theory-in-ten-sentences-or-less make sense. (I mean, you did ask me to boil down a topic that is typically taught over the course of four to five semesters in college, and the last time I served as a music theory professor, at Western New Mexico University, was in 2005. I can't believe I just came up with all of that after 8 years of teaching Mary Had A Little Lamb. ^_^ )
 Did I help someone come up with a better explanation for something ? Shouryu, as I was reading it, I was thinking, "wow, he's a really good teacher-oh, right, he IS a teacher . Seriously, thank you so much, for the recipe (which I intend to try as soon as I can get some steel cut oats), and for explaining music theory. Hey, as I was typing that last bit, I was thinking "because he made it easy to understand!" And then I thought "maybe a teacher is only a good teacher if he or she CAN make something easy to understand". Anyway, I read it slowly and the explanation of consonance and dissonance was understandable when I sang the song in my head and listened for each, sort of, if that makes sense. People, if you want a quick explanation of music theory, click the button that will take you back to the original post Shouryu made. Perhaps I shouldn't have cut it, but this post is already really long.
Am I doing this right, BTW? If not, maybe I'm not catching on as well as I thought :D.
Mary had a little lamb,
little lamb,
little lamb
Mary had a little lamb
Its fleece was white as snow
Gosh, that wasn't as easy as I thought it would be; I'm not at all confident in what I put. Oh well, if I failed, I shall read more about music theory. Or, probably even if I managed to get it right. Do you have a suggestion for a tenish-paragraphs-or-fewer tutorial? Is there a website you recommend?

Sooo... question for everyone. I'll get to the even numbered ones later, as it's getting a touch late and I don't want to rush on them.

1) Who is your favorite sports athlete?
Um, I suppose Tim Tebow? I like sports accomplishments, but I really don't know many specific athletes.

3) Flip flops or sneakers? Slides. Specifically my Meleen Croc slides in pink/espresso. Sneaks when it's too cold for bare toes :).

Okay, I'm only up to page 6 or so, but I noticed a few people who may not have been asked questions yet, and I don't want to leave anyone out.

Phil36: What's the best thing about turning 40? No, it's not a trick question.

KJV15John11: What's the funniest thing you ever posted, in your opinion?

LoveNeverFails: I thought of this question for you a week ago before I made this thread, but when I posted the thread I was running on only a few hours sleep and forgot it, so here it is now :). You mentioned that your parents had a long distance relationship. Could you share the story? It sounds really sweet :).

TheBlackRider: Cool screen name, what does it mean? Also, is it easy for you to talk to people offline as well? You really seemed to jump right in, which is a great way to make friends, as you must know :).

Fourleaf: I'd personally rather have the job that I want, rather than the one with benefits, at least as soon as I had saved up enough to take care of myself.
