I used to think that too, before it happened to me. Sometimes it's boundary issues. Getting too close to someone else and developing feelings for them. That actually (most of the time) has nothing to do with the jilted spouse at all. (I've read a lot about that recently.) It happens more than people realize. A midlife crisis, unhappiness with your own life in general... all sorts of reasons that don't necessarily have to do with any preexisting marriage problems.

Of course, every marriage COULD be better, and I know I've realized lots of things I could have done to be a better wife. Either way, if one spouse has a problem, they have an obligation to let the other spouse know.
I definitely agree that it's important to know why a marriage failed, whether or not there was anything that could have prevented it. I just see problems with a blanket statement that if there's cheating in a marriage, it must be because the one cheated on was not meeting the needs of their partner. That sometimes is true but often it isn't.
My youth pastor once said this to a group of us pimple faced teens:
"People don't fall in and out of love. Some day, sooner or later, you're going to get into an argument with your wife. When you do, all of a sudden you'll start telling yourself the female co worker you work with understands you a lot better than your wife does."

He was dead on. People sometimes forget to guard their hearts and they develop an emotional affair with someone and it lands them in deep water.

I've never had an emotional affair or had it happen to me, but I hope that advice was still sound. I'll take my tongue out of my cheek now :p.

Grace, I'm sorry you went through this. I'm so glad you have the attitude you do about it.

In my line of work the majority of people are unfaithful in their marriages. They talk about it A LOT...even if you don't want to hear it. Never once have I heard any of them say it was about something missing at home. They simply have little regard for marriage and other people, and often put themselves in situations they should not. They may say it "just happened", but it doesn't just happen. Somewhere along the line someone made a choice.
Thank you Jullianna. :) Sorry it comes up so much here in convo... It really doesn't define who I am anymore (as it used to) - so thankful for that! What line of work are you in?

The whole credit thing really stinks. I've lived completely debt free for the past 4 years which of course makes it a headache to get a vehicle loan since I have no recent credit history. Make the choice to live within your means and not take on debt for frivolous reasons and no one wants to write a note when you actually need it.
Ugh, sorry this is happening! What a wonderful, terrible problem to have, eh? Maybe you could try a small town bank and speak to someone in person? If they handle the loans in-house they will have more power to grant loans for people like you.

You mean ouija board? And why are you even messing with that? The bible clearly speaks against trying to contact the dead. And since, biblicly speaking there is no such thing as a ghost, what other spirit do you think you're speaking to?

My baby girl just accidentally said her first word- "Yoda".

(Well...maybe not. But it sounded a bit like it.)
You sure it wasn't a burp, mizcris :D

That's a good way to live, I think, Scripture talks about living our lives in this 'free' way, oncefell. God provides.
Lord, I pray that oncefell receives just the right vehicle from you. In your precious name, Lord, amen.

I get amazed looking at cars like the nissan leaf, getting over 100 miles per gallon. I think, there is one Honda Sprint hybrid of some sort that I saw in Consumer Reports 2-3 months ago that gets around 150mpg . Amazing.
With housing, food and transportation the big three that takes our monthly income, makes cents that getting a car like that really does cut down on all but the car payment each month for the 'transportation' block of the monthly budget. Depending on how far one travels, gas savings is consideratle, especially if gas stays around $3.50-$4.00/gallon.

Praying that God will make a way

Pray for the power of God to run through you, read His Word (the bible), go to church, often, ask Him there to keep you close to Him and keep telling Him you are going to back in church soon, like every Sunday morning and find a night church too, and, singles group during the week and a women's bible study group usually goes on weeklly in churches.

And, don't you ever go near that board thing again; plain and simple, it won't be ever seeing you again if you don't ever go see it again .

Dear Lord, help simplechick see your light, and, not to go into that darkness that will board her up in life, that The Devil can use to persuade her to go away from You. In your precious name, Lord Jesus, amen. :)

Something that's been bothering me all evening...

Today, my mother-in-law and I were cleaning up the tree mess and we started a pile of firewood just outside of the back gate. It's right on the corner of the alley, which is a fairly busy spot, as a couple of our neighbors drive that way to get to their houses.

The people two houses down are...well, drunks. They're really noisy, always playing old country music outside and usually yelling at each other and burning trash. They're sort of really disliked by most of this town. The only issue my husband and I really have with them is that they let their dogs roam all over, and these dogs aren't particularly nice. Otherwise, these people are just loud and smelly (the trash burning, I mean).

My mother-in-law is paranoid that they might decide to take some of the firewood, since it's outside the fence.

After listening to her worry out loud about it for a while, I said, "Hey, it's alright, we'll throw a tarp over it. That way it will be pretty obvious that it's not there to take. Will that make you feel better?"

She said it would, so we got out the tarp and covered the pile.

After she stared at it for a minute, she said, "What if they take the tarp?"

*facepalm*

Anyway, my problem here is...what did these people DO to deserve to be thought of as thieves? Just because they drink and burn smelly stuff and listen to bad music doesn't automatically mean they steal. They keep to themselves.

I just...I guess I don't feel alright with the assumptions that were made.

The reason I bought my Prius was because I was on the road so much. I bought a used one with over 100k miles on it for a good price, and I actually saved so much on fuel that the savings paid for my car note. So, it was like getting a free car. It's paid off now, and I only have to fill up every two weeks, at maybe $25-$30 per tank. Life is grand.

Ack. Don't mess with that stuff. There are very real very dangerous forces behind these things. You do NOT want to invite these into your life (and practicing divination or communing with spirits is an invitation). You'll be even more miserable as while they can't possess you, they can make your life a nightmare.

Tarot, Quija, Seances, wicca, any kind of magic (or magjick), and occult practices (including new age practices and those borrowed from other religions) are a no no.

Just follow Jesus, you'll get excitement enough through Him.

I checked her profile afterwards. She does not list herself as a Christian, so yeah, possession is an option.

I are weak.

I got a hankering to buy the 1979 Disney sci-fi masterpiece The Black Hole, so I went looking for it on Amazon. I found it; ten bucks, pretty sweet, yeah? Right under the description, Amazon informs me the that the complete series (three seasons!) for Jem and the Holograms was on sale for $42 (normally $90, which is why I hadn't gotten it yet).

Didn't buy The Black Hole. Completely forgot about it. Bought Jem because childhood animated soap opera/adventure. *facepalm*

I saw a guy today whose face looked identical to Aragorn (minus the hair), but he had the eyes definitely.

I remember seeing parts of "The Black Hole." My brother and I took our mom to see "Star Wars," which was still playing at the theaters, even though it had come out in 1977. The theater next to us (those dome kind) was showing "Pete's Dragon" and was being robbed. The cops had the movie managers make an announcement as to what was going on and we were not allowed to leave, since the front of the theater to the parking lot was in the potential line of fire. So we saw Star Wars again....then Wandered over to see a little bit of Black Hole....ate a bit of free movie food....and kept going in and out of the two movies that were in that building. Eventually, they had customers give their keys to the police, who found the car in the lot and drove it to the front of the building. I don't remember if they ever caught the bad guys.

Sometimes, it feels like God is starting a conversation with me. Mainly when I'm being a jerk and trying to avoid talking to Him, because I know that I'm being a jerk. I know I can't hide, and I know He sees my heart, but like a rebellious teenager, I try to tune Him out.

This morning, just after I woke up after not nearly enough sleep, I was thinking about all the things in my life that are frustrating and difficult. My mind was on me, me, me. Poor me, with my disaster of a yard, poor me, with my broken car, poor me, poor me. And then I suddenly thought, "Why do you not trust me?"

I've never heard God speak to me in a big, booming voice. I've never seen a burning bush or heard one talk. But there have been a few times in my life when a thought will come flying at me out of left field, and I know it isn't my own, and I feel...awe. And sometimes shame, like today- I'm like a kid who's been caught not following the rules.

I wanted to reply with "Of course I trust you, I always have, what are you talking about?" And I even started to. I got defensive with God. I used to do that with my mom when I was in trouble, or suspected I was about to be in trouble. And she would usually just stare me down until I hushed, and then she'd say her piece and I was expected to accept it and do as she said.

That's how it felt. Like God was waiting patiently for me to flounder and fumble through my defensiveness and excuses, before correcting me and setting me back on the right path.

And now, like the silly human I am, I can't tell if I'm over here pouting, or just feeling humbled. But I know now the next steps I am to take.

I don't know if that all sounds silly or ridiculous, but when God stops in to talk to me before I've even had coffee...I figure that's something worth sharing.

It sounded like the true heart of a Christian. I could relate to your struggles and I'm sure many will be blessed by you sharing yours.

I played with a wedji board once. I still get wedjis a lot, and they take a long time to pick out.

On a more serious note, don't be playing round with ouija boards. The cardboard itself is harmless, but you can end up with an extra person in the living room.
