Food Stamps Reduced in November

This is just a heads up. For those on this site who may use or need food stamps, they are being reduced , start now to prepare your kitchen. I would like to give some hints here of economical food stuffs. Powdered milk, flour, sugar, salt, lemon juice concentrate, vinegar, oil, shortening, yeast, beans, rice, oatmeal, grains of any kind, honey, syrup, raisins. Any canned goods. Water, Tuna, canned meat, I didn't list ind. type canned goods but I believe you can buy seed packets with EBT card. A must! This is just for those who had to get on this system, not because they were lazy but they needed help. IF anyone thinks of something could you add to list (SAW THIS ON A SITE) Millions of American families could face a sparse holiday table when food stamps benefits get reduced in November, and that could be just the start of deeper cuts to the program to feed poor families. The modern-day food stamp plan, now called the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, is scheduled to scale back benefits for all recipients on Nov. 1 because a recession-era boost in benefits is expiring.

That is not surprising,not good for the disabled, ill,or those who get extremely low wages,and need help with the high cost of food prices. Thanks overcomer2, those of us with a limited budget need to figure out a low cost meal plan.I't will all only become harder if you are already struggling financially,and have difficult circumstances.

The truly disappointing part about it is that this reduction is not a part of a wider welfare reform program or a more expensive campaign of spending cuts. This makes me wonder what the purpose of it is.

People on food stamps will pretty much always blame Republicans for anything that goes wrong. When you train a pitbull, often you hit/hurt your own dog so it will get mean and nasty with intruders, or police officers.

Same tactic. Take a dog, teach it to be mean and aggressive.

Truly,some need help,but it should have more restrictions obviously a better reform could be done,but they don't care except if it will conform to the overall plan,and I don't think the poor.ill or those of less benefit matter to them anyway.

The humanitarian portion of America is now gone...

We are extremely self centered and view ourselves are rightful heirs to everything: Food stamps won't become popular until the majority of America is on them... By then it is too late....

Majority of american voters do not wish to pay for health care, so it is now becoming 'free'... But we view food stamps as too low for our selves, since we are above the lower class... And that gives the govt, lee-way to disband food stamps while keeping all the votes...
 
I am not blaming any republicans,I have lived many yrs,without any help just scraping by on scrap wages that's very judgmental of you.

Very good point. I guess I like to believe people are smart enough to blame those who are actually in charge. Always has been my political blindspot.

A faith in human reason which marked me years ago that has since died.

Okay, this is getting rather out of hand. I'm pretty sure Jimmy was not mocking the poor. The poor have been with us and will be with us for a long long time.

He knows this.

No, what he is mocking or rather chastising is a modern concept. One that by itself mocks the poor.

I don't think anyone is mocking the poor though there are many on assistance that don't need them. Which takes away from those who are truly needy.

According to news sources people will have $36 less per month, and there are ways to still get what you need even with less funds. Buy generic brands and use coupons. Cut out frivolous items that you don't need like sodas, candy, ect. Shop at discount grocery stores as well.
 
This is a good example of what may be coming down the pipe. I challenge all to get your kitchens in order. 1 Corinthians 14:40 Let all things be done decently and in order.

I agree to that all the way. I know many that have tried for years to get disability and there's nothing wrong with them. I also know many who can't get disability that need it.

Agreed. There are many ways people claim to meet that goal. The question is which way is the right one?
 
How about plugging the holes that "state whores" use? I'd love to see that
please forgive the term. it's not mine and i haven't found a better one.
