I find it interesting that throughout Scripture, all references to an Angel of the Lord appear in the male form, never the female form (that I am aware of)
(Please don't get me wrong I love females and God knows how I love them.....strange creatures as they are we males cannot do without them.)
Is it because He created man in His image and not woman?.......in Genesis 2 we are given an account as to why woman were created, it was only after man was created that God saw that man needed a helper, so He created the beasts of the field and the birds of the air to be a helper to man, but then God saw that none of them were suitable for him, and only then did God create woman (thank you Lord, whew...that was close!)

Now I know in Genesis 1 the account appears to be different but I am sure that is another whole story.
These were just thoughts crossing my mind... I am not into arguing this just curious what others think.

Hebrew has no neuter gender. Like in English, in both Hebrew and Greek, the male gender is the one that is used for any creature of non-specific gender. A domestic robot (like in sci-fi) is always thought of as masculine unless specified otherwise, for example; the driver of a car is always "he" until you have visual contact, etc. We can argue that modern languages should be changed (and we do), but the Bible cannot be changed.

I thought "the Angel of the Lord" was Jesus? And we all know He is a he.

when thinking on this, I always consider these passages of Scripture........they may or may not be relevant, but they give me a mental picture to consider........

1st Corinthians 15:44) It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body. 45 .) And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit.
46 .) Howbeit that was not first which is spiritual, but that which is natural; and afterward that which is spiritual.
47 .) The first man is of the earth, earthy: the second man is the Lord from heaven. 48 .) As is the earthy, such are they also that are earthy: and as is the heavenly, such are they also that are heavenly. 49 .) And as we have borne the image of the earthy, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly. 50 .) Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption.

Galatians 3:26) For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus. 27 .) For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ. 28 .) There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus. 29 .) And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.

The bible does say that angels are tempted by female beauty. That implies they certainly not anything like females.

oof....is the part where the womb in Adam was taken out to make Eve?..hence womb-man = woman?
No, when Adam saw Eve, he said "whoa, MAN". That's where it comes from. Wiat a minute, Adam did not speak English, he spoke Hebrew, right? He must have said "ah-ISH".

kenisyes...I'm not trying to be funny here, really, I have heard this teaching long time ago. Is this what you mean when you say Adam was not male yet?

I'm not being funny,m although I think Graybeard is, you have to ask him. Adam is made in the image and likeness of God. And he is both male and female. It is clear that God is thus both male and female. You need to consider this when you wish to draw the conclusion that angels, also being spirits made by God, are male only.

The "image" of God that we/Adam are made in is our "eternal spirits." Our "earthy" bodies that God created, were created earthy male and female for the purpose of reproduction of the species. Our "earthy" bodies are not in the "image" of God. God is not "flesh and blood." A wise man once said "God is a Spirit, and to worship Him, we must worship Him in spirit."

God is not a hybrid creature, that being part male/part female. Seriously. I also thought this was kinda a "tongue in cheek" thread to begin with, but if people really believe that God is both male and female, well, we got some serious issues to deal with in my opinion. Just saying......

As for angels.........there is the one instance in the Old Testament where "the sons of God" did get into trouble by messing around with earthy females, and they giving birth to giants who God destroyed as I recall the story. It is also true that as far as I know the angels "named" in the Bible, are given "male" names......Michael, Gabriel, hmmm, others named?

Jesus said that in heaven, they will not be given in marriage, for they will be as the angels........I believe we will be "spirit beings," and there will be no need for either male or female reproductive organs, for we will be changed into our spirit bodies in the twinkling of an eye, and that will be for all eternity.......no need for marriage, and/or the birth of offspring.

Just my thoughts......

?????...why the sarcastic reply may I ask?didn't expect that from you.

I don't believe Adam (the man) was both male and female, and I think it probably borders on heresy/blasphemy to say God is male and female. Were men and women created in His image? Yes. But the bible always refers to God as He, and the only ones I know with female or androgynous gods are the pagans.

They were both considered in the eyes of God as one flesh and called them Adam. Get a grip.

Hey I was wondering since I am a redneck and we like to run our words together. Like "doncha" and "yowontoo" and "whichin". Can I be politically correct if I referred to African Americans as Amafricans and Hispanic Americans as Hispmericans. I was just wondering I am not racist at all, I have Amafrican friends and Hispmerican friends and work with them as well and they think it's great.

I agree that angels are 'male' when they appear in Scriptures and also any 'sightings' of angels have usually been a male. This may be because angels do not marry nor are given in marriage just as Jesus said. So angels do not need female counterparts. (plus, men in general are stronger than females. If I had a choice between a male or a female to protect me 24/7, I'd choose the male every time) just sayin

There are SIGNIFICANTLY more "he", "him", "man" in the Bible when God is seemingly talking to the human race. It was a very male centric time in history. I wouldn't assume that all angels are male. And NO I am not a feminist. I am a Christian who goes to a conservative Bible based church.

I am sure I am going to get push back....especially from men. Sigh.
