Wow, I put this here because I have received two different sources I didn't have time to research:
The President Obama Signed the Executive Order named the National Defense Resource Preparedness. This document can be used to seize all the gold, stocks, bonds and anything valuable out of safety deposit boxes to fund the government if congress refuses to raise the debt ceiling or for some other financial crisis in the name of National security.

I recently had to have a box drilled open. What a circus. My mom died, had a safety deposit box (their plastic by the way). I had to send a letter to IRS let them know the key was lost we were going to drill. At one time the IRS agent had to be present, the bank rep, the executrix to the will, present and the drill company rep present. What a mess. Got it opened nothing in it. (mom told me there was nothing in it) I wanted it out of my name so I had to jump through all these hoops. Any way I told bank rep on paperwork I was going to write all I found was dust. She said, "oh, please don't do that the IRS will call and ask what kind of dust. I guess she meant like gold, or cocaine. They want to tax everything.

Don't know if it's true. I guess nothing is truly our own. Anything of value is shared with the government. I guess that's just another way to let us know it's not by the grace of God we are alive, but by the grace of the government?

I heard something on the radio. Yes, it was a bit of a conspiracy type show. I don't give it much creedence. I just thought of it when I read this.

They talked of the government collapsing. They said it will not be terrible, hopefully. They said it would be fairly quiet and would give us a tough time for about three months. They hoped our government would look at how Russia handled their collapse. I do believe it is coming. I cannot give accurate information and proof as to why I believe this. I just have listened to so much about what has been going on over the years, I think we are very close to collapse.

Maybe it's time to take a look at what Russia did and compare their issues and how they handled them with what we are doing? They were quite successful and are now exporting more goods than importing.

I'm not sure if it is true, but I'd say that's the intention, whether they admit to it or not. I know they stole the gold in a heap of countries (US included) 50 years or so ago, and did similar things. Why not again today?

The NWO likes to do test runs on small insignificant countries before rolling out their plans in bigger places. Cyprus was probably a test. I certainly wouldn't be keeping my valuables in bank "safety deposit boxes", if given a choice. This won't stop the thieves, but it will make them work a little harder to accomplish their thefts.

I think they had a terrible time in (at least some) former Soviet countries when these collapsed. Violent crime everywhere. People turning to crime because they couldn't make a living. Taxi drivers being killed for their fare, buses etc. being pulled over and passengers robbed or killed. I think the process took about 10 years to settle down. Now it seems like all the surviving criminals are in positions of power, so instead of violence, it's corruption.

Feds seize gold coins worth $80 mln from Pennsylvania family

Feds seize gold coins worth $80 mln from Pennsylvania family — RT USA

A federal judge has upheld a verdict that strips a Pennsylvania family of their grandfather’s gold coins — worth an estimated $80 million — and has ordered ownership transferred to the US government.

Judge Legrome Davis of the Eastern District Court of Pennsylvania affirmed a 2011 jury decision that a box of 1933 Saint-Gaudens double eagle coins discovered by the family of Israel Switt, a deceased dealer and collector, is the property of the United States.

In the midst of the Great Depression, then-President Franklin Roosevelt ordered that America’s supply of double eagles manufactured at the Philadelphia Mint be destroyed and melted into gold bars. Of the 445,500 or so coins created, though, some managed to escape the kiln and ended up into the hands of collectors. In 2003, Switt’s family opened a safe deposit back that their grandfather kept, revealing 10 coins among that turned out to be among the world’s most valuable collectables in the currency realm today.

Switt’s descendants, the Langbords, thought the coins had been gifted to their grandfather years earlier by Mint cashier George McCann and took the coins to the Mint to have their authenticity verified, but the government quickly took hold of the items and refused to relinquish the find to the family. The Langbords responded with a lawsuit that ended last year in a victory for the feds.

Because the government ordered the destruction of their entire supply of coins decades earlier, the court found that Switt’s family was illegally in possession of the stash. Even though they may had been presented to the dealer by a Philadelphia Mint staffer, Judge Davis agrees with last year’s ruling that Mr. McCann broke the law.

"The coins in question were not lawfully removed from the United States Mint,” the judge rules.

Despite this decision, though, the attorney representing Switt’s family says the government has no right to remove their own items and transfer property back to the state.

Executive Order 6102 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Executive Order 6102 required all persons to deliver on or before May 1, 1933, all but a small amount of gold coin, gold bullion, and gold certificates owned by them to the Federal Reserve, in exchange for $20.67 (equivalent to $372.75 today[SUP][3][/SUP]) per troy ounce. Under the Trading With the Enemy Act of 1917, as amended by the recently passed Emergency Banking Act of March 9, 1933, violation of the order was punishable by fine up to $10,000 (equivalent to $180,334 today[SUP][3][/SUP]) or up to ten years in prison, or both. Most citizens who owned large amounts of gold had it transferred to countries such as Switzerland.

Order 6102 specifically exempted "customary use in industry, profession or art"—a provision that covered artists, jewellers, dentists, and sign makers among others. The order further permitted any person to own up to $100 in gold coins (a face value equivalent to 5 troy ounces (160 g) of Gold valued at about $7800 as of 2011). The same paragraph also exempted "gold coins having recognized special value to collectors of rare and unusual coins." This protected recognized gold coin collections from legal seizure and likely melting.

DHS Seizures?

Can the Department of Homeland Security or the FBI Seize Safe Deposit Box Contents Without a Court Order? - David P. McGuinn

Can the Department of Homeland Security or the FBI Seize Safe Deposit Box Contents Without a Court Order?

"Can the FBI or DHS search my safe deposit box and seize my contents?" If your box renters have not asked this question yet . . . . get ready!

Because of our struggling economy and growing national debt, many concerned investors are now purchasing gold and silver to protect their wealth against financial uncertainty. Following the recent cash-confiscation hiatus in Cyprus, many Americans fear that a similar takeover could occur in the U.S. These concerns are being fueled by unsubstantiated rumors which are being circulated via the Internet and involve the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), and facts which are rooted in authenticated Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) procedures.

Department of Homeland Security "RUMORS"
First, we shall address the DHS Internet rumors. In 2006, many nationwide bloggers and several widely-read financial newsletters reported that the DHS would utilize the PATRIOT Act to justify the inspection of safe deposit boxes belonging to people "considered to be hostile to the present government". Without providing a court order, gold bars, coins, silver, jewelry, firearms, passports, foreign deposit account information and any other box contents deemed to be of a "contraband nature" could be confiscated. Employees were prohibited from revealing any of these activities to the media or to the box renters who were being investigated, and they were threatened with a penalty of job termination and prosecution under the PATRIOT Act. Again, in 2011, similar postings by an anonymous blogger were circulated naming California-based Bank of America and Compass Bancshares as two financial institutions that had actually experienced box-seizure requests from the DHS. Now, in 2013, the furor in Cyprus is lending credibility to these 2006 and 2011 allegations, and more rumors are again spreading like wild fire and gaining a new lease on life.

When I attempted to validate these most recent blogs, my research only directed me to more blogs. I could find no DHS government regulations, supporting memos, nor grounds upon which I could legitimize the claims. All indications point to these rumors as being specious and with no legitimate foundation.

Federal Bureau of Investigation "FACTS"
The facts reveal that since 2000, clandestine activities have been carried on by the U.S government, specifically the FBI. On March 29, 2013 the Internet search giant Google filed a petition with the United States District Court of Northern California challenging the issuance of National Security Letters (NSL) by the FBI. The purpose of the "letters" was to obtain private data about one or more of Google's users. These letters imposed a gag provision on the recipients. Only a few days earlier, on March 14, United States Federal District Judge Susan Illston ordered the government to cease issuing NSLs and ruled that the inherent gag order was an unconstitutional impingement of free speech under the First Amendment.

NSLs, which have been in use for decades to circumvent the "Right to Financial Privacy Act," have escalated since the PATRIOT Act was enacted. They are actually written demands from the FBI compelling entities which include, and are mostly confined to, internet-service providers, credit companies, and financial institutions, to submit information about their clientele: phone numbers, e-mail addresses, websites visited and more. It should be noted that NSLs do not require court approval. According to Department of Justice reports, the FBI has sent out nearly 300,000 National Security Letters since 2000.

Why has so little been done to challenge these intrusive practices by our government? Many recipients of NSLs are small businesses that lack the resources, and perhaps the will to fight. Therefore, only a few of these "requests" have been challenged

Conclusion
In both rumor and fact, the PATRIOT Act is frequently blamed or referenced as giving our government legitimacy to operate in the shadows.

It's 2013, eight decades after President Franklin Roosevelt's 1933 Executive Order outlawing private gold ownership. President Gerald Ford overturned this gold ban with an Executive Order in 1975. President Obama and our current administration have not given any indication that they plan to implement any new gold, cash or safe deposit box seizure legislation, and, if they did, such a move would face vigorous legal challenges and congressional opposition.

Fortunately our gold and our safe deposit box contents appear to be off limits to the federal government. . . .for now.

Re: Feds seize gold coins worth $80 mln from Pennsylvania family

I find the wording on so many of these articles very poor. Whenever "the government" commits crime, it's mislabeled and given a legal sounding name. "Feds seize gold coins?" A better title would be "Government crime syndicate steals gold coins". Then there's the other part of the story "Pennsylvania kangaroo court upholds legality of official plundering".

There is a saying I've seen in Australia - "Why hire a lawyer, when you can buy a judge?" I think most governments of the world have long ago mastered the technique.
