Jesus did die for your sins crying, and God the Father does forgive you.
But He never condoned sin, nor does the bible excuse rape. (Not that you ever did)

The Old Testament was written for a nation, the New Testament was written for the redeemed souls that He chose out of every nation.
Any judgement in the O.T.; - such as killing, was for nations that sacrificed people.
(Rape was never condoned), - nor the shedding of innocent blood.
- In fact there was a huge penalty for both in the old testament - (Before Jesus).
- - And there still is after Jesus, God doesn't change at all.
- - What He offers is redemption through His Son.

Yea, it's the words of life.
But, you were right in a way, there is a law that says if a man overtakes(rapes) an unmarried damsel (single woman) in the field he will have to take care of her for the rest of his life.
- - - - people overlook the first laws regarding assault, and the recompense the family of the victim can have on the perpetrator.
It all went before judges so no one got condemned wrongfully, but believe me, if a man raped a woman there were remedies available to the family of the victim well past giving her over to him in marriage.
It was an eye for an eye.
- That scripture you referenced was if she had no family to vouch for her.
- - Believe me, they had laws to the strictest conditions against even manslaughter.
- - - It wasn't like if a boy liked the way a girl looked he could force himself on her and thereby make her his wife.
- - - - Not even close.

i do agree with you roboOp,you as a human being should have the right to react and respond as you believe,"yuck,me too, lol",,,you know i read his letter several times and something struck me odd, that is i noticed he said he spoke with (his family and friends),,,but he never states he prayed to god about the matter or considered scripture on the matter.

he then at the end say's that he "respects the beliefs of others",and the "right of religious institutions",,"to act in accordance with their own doctrines"(as if the religious aspect does apply to himself),,,then states "in the eyes of the law",,as if it supersedes "in the eyes of god",,,well i just find it odd that he never states he conferred with god on the matter and then separates the government from religious organizations on the matter,,,,i don't agree with him on the matter,,,,

A call to prayer?

Tonight I was reviewing posts on another forum and I came across this 'signature'.

"Please pray for President Obama. Start with Psalm 109:8"

After looking up the passage, I couldn't help but chuckle...

West Point hosts first wedding between 2 men - CBS News

West Point hosts first wedding between 2 men. Chaplain Cynthia Lindenmeyer of the reformed United Church of Christ officiated the ceremony in the chapel.

Confused that way.

Would she marry a person and an animal if it were legal and popular? How about an adult and a minor if it were legal and popular?

Blasphemy is the act of insulting or showing contempt or lack of reverence for God, to religious or holy persons or things, or toward something considered sacred or inviolable such as the covenant of marriage between a man and a woman which God instituted for all humanity.

What does it mean for a nation when its clergy participates in an abominable transgression in open rebellion to prerogatives which belong to God alone?

It's one thing when the pagan Romans and Greeks engaged in the practice but Christian clergy?

Maybe not tomorrow or the year after but batten down the hatches brothers and sisters. Judgment is en route.

Here's the email I got just now from Obama (seriously, somehow I got put on this Democrats.org mailing list). He makes himself pretty clear, that he wants gay marriage in America. Here it is (all bold emphasis mine):

RoboOp [actually it was my real name here] --

Today, I was asked a direct question and gave a direct answer:

I believe that same-sex couples should be allowed to marry.

I hope you'll take a moment to watch the conversation, consider it, and weigh in yourself on behalf of marriage equality:

Stand with the President — Barack Obama [link removed]

I've always believed that gay and lesbian Americans should be treated fairly and equally. I was reluctant to use the term marriage because of the very powerful traditions it evokes. And I thought civil union laws that conferred legal rights upon gay and lesbian couples were a solution.

But over the course of several years I've talked to friends and family about this. I've thought about members of my staff in long-term, committed, same-sex relationships who are raising kids together. Through our efforts to end the "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" policy, I've gotten to know some of the gay and lesbian troops who are serving our country with honor and distinction.

What I've come to realize is that for loving, same-sex couples, the denial of marriage equality means that, in their eyes and the eyes of their children, they are still considered less than full citizens.

Even at my own dinner table, when I look at Sasha and Malia, who have friends whose parents are same-sex couples, I know it wouldn't dawn on them that their friends' parents should be treated differently.

So I decided it was time to affirm my personal belief that same-sex couples should be allowed to marry.

I respect the beliefs of others, and the right of religious institutions to act in accordance with their own doctrines. But I believe that in the eyes of the law, all Americans should be treated equally. And where states enact same-sex marriage, no federal act should invalidate them.

If you agree, you can stand up with me here.

Thank you,

Barack

What a brave and noble man. I stand behind barack and for gay marriage. I pray that one day God will help the last remaining Christians see the light, drop their prejudice, and welcome homosexuals with open arms. I pray that God will forgive these bigoted individuals as they knew not what they were doing. And I pray for their eternal souls.

To Christ the Lord.
Amen.

There is nothing in the article that says she's from a Reformed church, nor does it say the UCC is a Reformed Church. Anyone who knows anything about the UCC knows it's not a Reformed church. Most of the Reformed denominations will probably hold out a lot longer than the moderate evangelical non-denom movement.

I've had some struggles in this department myself. In high school I was in what would be considered a "gay relationship." It never got "sexual" in a physical sense, if you understand my meaning. It was, however, deeply romantic and emotional, alot of kissing. This was someone I'd pretty much been raised with. Our mothers were best of friends from their youth, both were single moms (mine from death, his from divorce), and we and our sisters were raised side-by-side. So it's possible for the "in love" part to be there without the "sexual." Our mothers figured out how we felt at some point, probably much sooner than we were aware, and were actually supportive. Maybe they shouldn't have been, but then they were rather liberal-minded.

I'm sorry, but religiously liberal rights like circumstition are much more harmful to those vulnerable little children.
I'm not sorry to say that I am very glad to have been circumcised, and Jesus was also circumcised !
How could you compare the heavenly act of circumcision with the demonic sodomite agenda ?

Your Mothers loved you and accepted you for who you are. Nothing wrong or weird about that.

They even threw us a wedding when we were seventeen, way before there was anything like "gay marriage" being talked about!
