I guess the original purpose I posted this is because there are two sides to every story.
I stand neutral in this thread because of the fact I don't want this to become just opinions thrown around.
For us to say to people who have a conviction against rock music that they are wrong and just don't want to have any fun is a wrong in its self.
Posting lyrics to a song does not prove anything except for the fact that it makes fun of those who do not agree with you.
State a factual and then read what the other side has to say.

Posts like these scare me. Do you think rock n' roll with Christian lyrics is the worst of our problems? Are you serious? Who in their Christian walk can say that one of these answers is the correct answer for everyone? Its almost like asking God if food that was sacrificed for idols is okay to eat. You know, to each his own. If Christian rock makes you feel dirty- dont listen to it. If it doesn't bother you and you can relate to it- then why not? Its not like the message is bad. Its certainly a lot better than regular rock n' roll. Also, I dont think God mentioned a particular musical rhythem is sinful- at least not that I know of.

If you don't wish to discuss it then do not post in the thread.
Curiosity is my only reason for the thread. However no seems to take the time to put out a decent post on the issue.
Probably because I put it in the wrong forum..
My bad

I did discuss it. Just because I said it scares me doesn't mean i wouldn't talk about it. I gave my true opinion: that this topic wasn't something that should matter to christians because there is a lot of other things that are much worse. As for not putting a decent post on the issue- well clearly you're not looking for the answer you want to read.

Made me think of Audio Adrenaline's "Houseplant Song".

"If your music has a beat, your gonna wind up dead!
It doesn't really matter if it's 'Christian' or not,
If it's syncopated rythm, then your SOUL is gonna rot!"

Erm, Zeppelin, New Testament Christians did ask this question. 1 Corinthians 10: 23-33. Paul didn't rag on them for asking the question, either. He gave them a thorough response to put their concerns at bay. The same topic is brought up again by Paul in Romans 14:14 and Acts 15:29.

I think the short of it is, is that if a question or concern is bothering a Christian, it is an important question or concern! I know a lot of teenagers and young adults worry and struggle about how to live a Godly, un-worldy life. Music plays a big role in that.

I think the point Zepplin was making is that we should apply Paul's answer to that question here--it's not wrong, the idols aren't real, but if it does offend someone don't do it around them.

Hey I have a thought for everyone.
Is Christian Rock and Roll, Hip Hip, Rap, R&B ect. All the genres that we have taken from the world of music and Christianize are they God honoring?
Should we only listen to old church hymns that we hear at our Grandmas church that we had to go to from time to time?
What do you think?

Even metal can honor God.

Rock n' Roll is deception, I used many excuses to listen to Music of this World, until I surrendered to Holy Spirit about three years ago over the issue.

I started playing guitar, I played many of Led Zeppelin's song, but after studying their persona I surrender that.

But it took three years of prayer fighting arguging with God and sound conviction.

It was exhaustive but i'm so glad it has given me a firm and holy ground.

I have struggled with Classic Rock for years, until the convictions of many fundamentalist Christians convicted me, along with many powerful scriptures. Like "walk not after the heathen" and "as a man speaketh so he is"

Mick Jagger said, "Rock n' Roll is sex, you have to hit them in the face with it" (1965)

If you ever studied the life of these rock artists it's fulll of filth and perversion, that goes for Kayne West, 50 Cent, Mick Jaggar, John Lennon, Lenny Kravitz, Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera.

They all follow the lust of this world. Rebuke their spirit and come out of them my people and be ye not partakers of their sins!

Hopeful for you

Andrew

PS The Bible says that God is HOLY HOLY HOLY

Jesus said, "God is a SPIRIT, so they that worship him must be IN spirit and in TRUTH"

The Spirit is the Spirit of God, not the spirit of rebellion or lust.

Music can be work to lead people to other people. Make them to... consider something new or remind something for them. Too many people idolise the great starts of music and for this point, that kind of music and thinking is not good for christians.
Still, I think no matter what kind of the music is by style, if it's made to remind people about God and what good he have, instead of the singer or the world would have. I think that's the rigth way of using music.
I listen from time to time lot of music like pop, heavy, rock, metal, but only 25% are christian related either by band or lyrics. I listen to them because they make me think how good I have with God and how much and how God can give for people who are living in coditions of the songs i listen.

First of all KISS is a santaic band Knights IN Satan's Service or possibly Kings IN Satanic Service they wouldn't admitt it of course. If you notice the two ss are lightning bolts also used in a lot of other rock groups. I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven Luke 10:18. I believe that is were they are getting this from. Plus these 'SS" are part of the runic alphabet used in whitchcraft , also nazi symbol. Petra also sings God Gave Rock and Roll to You." And their song "Seen and Not Heard", is in the same tune as KISS'S, "Heavens On Fire." Talk about a bunch of copy cats. No wander KISS ant coming to Christ, The Christians are coming to them for music!

Can you name one genre of music where the musicians who practiced it were pure, holy people? I can't think of one.. And saying "Christian music" doesn't count because 1.) there are "Christian" musicians who have not been great people, and 2.) music with "sacred" lyrics has been composed over the centuries by plenty of immoral people.

I usually try not to be rude, but I think this is such a ridiculous topic. Saying rock is evil is the same as stereotyping an entire race of people. So you can find 100 musicians who are pagan or devil-worshipers or just hate God, well I can find 100 musicians who love God with all their heart, soul, mind and strength. Hymns bore me, and how can I worship God in my spirit when my spirit is bored? Rock music is fast-paced, loud, powerful. It shakes me to my core, it makes me want to stand up and move around. And the lyrics! Some band's lyrics are so profound, uplifting or emotional that they can bring a huge smile to my face or bring tears to my eyes. No other genre of music does that for me.

Psalm 100 - Make a joyful noise to the LORD, all the earth! Serve the LORD with gladness! Come into his presence with singing!

Just because my joyful noise is different than yours doesn't mean it's not pleasing to God.

I have a question? What makes you different from the world, compare your life with a sinner: the fact that you say you know Jesus is not enough there needs to be a separation.Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers; for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteous?.....Wherefore come out from among them and be ye separate. This sounds like a commandment to me.

HECK YES! It totally can be glorifying God. I could give you a massive list right now if you wish, lol. I think anything that is thanking God, or pointing people in the direction of God is God glorifying.
Here's a list of some awesome christian rock groups, some heavier than others:
TFK
Norma Jean
Brian "Head" Welch
Zao
Virgin Black
Living Sacrifice
Underoath
Switchfoot
Skillet
RED
Five Iron Frenzy
Family Force 5
and like a bunch more, lol. those are only a few. deffinatly God glorifying.

It is it needs to be shouted in the streets, in the Churches, their ears can hear.

"Come out from among them my people and be ye clean, be ye not partakers of theirs sins"

"Much is given, much is required"

"Whosever loveth this World is an enemy of God"

Someone had to hit me in the face with those verse over and over
But I still didnt' listen

years went by and was disobediant for years listening to Classic Rock music.

I got sick of feeling guilty ....so i got on my knees and asked God.

His voice was harsh towards my disobedience:

"He chasten every son he loveth"

KISS's leader singer owns more Strip Clubs in Vegas area than anyone else.

"Walk not after the heathen..."

I don't know if you guys are classifying rock and roll the same way we are.
