Does anyone know about the Bereans ? I saw a video on
You Tube this week. It was really old, but the teaching was
something I have agreed with regarding "Faith."
Thanks ~

Never heard of it, can you say how they describe "faith"?

I will Google ~ I thought maybe there would be one here to
give me an idea. They seem solid. We will see what each of us
come up with. Thanks.

I went to their site and can say that it is solid.

The Apostle Paul uses the above quotation from Genesis 15:6 to prove that “to him that worketh not, but believeth on Him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness” (Rom.4:5).
It is wonderful that God does not require — indeed, does not permit — human works for salvation, but only faith. But the question is: What is faith? What kind of believing saves?
There is no indication in Scripture that “the gospel of the grace of God” or “the preaching of the cross” was proclaimed to Abraham. We must go back to the passage which Paul quotes to see what Abraham believed. Genesis 15:5 says:

I wanted to go back and research what I thought I read first time around
after asking you. I thought where it tells what their belief is they did not
believe in the trinity. How subtle just a little 'unbelief' can be in a doctrine,
and almost miss it. After checking their belief, I went to wiki -pedia and
found what I thought I first read on the Berean doctrinal faith.

A new Protestant Christian group began in the 1850s in the United States under the tutelage of Dr. John Thomas. The name "Christadelphian" was chosen as it is believed that those who believe and obey the Commandments of Christ and the Bible as the inspired word of God, are "Brethren in Christ". The original group split, with one group continuing with the name "The Christadelphians" and the second group adding the word "Berean" to become the "Berean Christadelphians". The word "Berean" was chosen to reflect the words in Acts 17, "These (Berea) were more noble than those in Thessalonica in that they received the word with all readiness of mind and searched the scriptures daily whether those things were so." Christadelphians, and Berean Christadelphians believe in the promises given to Abraham, Isaac, and David concerning the Kingdom of God. They deny the Doctrine of the Trinity, a central tenet of orthodox Christianity, and this refusal to recognize the triune nature of God has resulted in a major impasse between the Christadelphians/Berean Christadelphians and the Protestant, Catholic, and Eastern Orthodox Churches.

They now call themselves the Berean Christdelphians. But what is in error is the fact they do not
believe in the Trinity. I could not believe it at first when I read their OWN DOCTRINAL statement.
I thought I must be wrong. It is wise to just go to berean.org and read their statement .

Chatter thanks so much for checking. You are right, some of the things are
right on. But reading their own statement of faith, and there is a lot to read,
I discovered they do not believe in the trinity.

Re: your question about Faith. I agreed with them the other evening when
I watched the old video, their teaching on faith as I believe. It is where we
come into the hyper-faith movement. Name it claim it type faith. I have been
Christian long time, and for many years was into that until I believe God has
taught me He often can be used like a genie in a bottle. I am only speaking
for myself, okay ? I was more interested in the fact The Faith is in God doing
what is needed. Yet I know Faith is important for us to believe God can do
anything. But, so many teach we speak it and it will happen. Hope I am
making sense.
Sooo, that being said... I could not be a Berean. I believe in the Trinity.
Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. ~Amen~

What I liked about them is they don't believe in works. "Of ourselves we can do nothing".

I believe that extends to memorizing scripture. The bible tells us to be still and know, so it may seem like a contradiction, but, if the mind is so full of words their minds are not still enough to hear the Holy Spirit.
It is not a contradiction, it I the truth.
I will tell you what faith is if you would like to know as I have experienced it.
"There is a scripture that says faith comes from hearing the word of God. Not necessarily from reading. If we simply learn to scan, we will find what we need without filling our minds with verse and chapter.
Then when we need one the Holy spirit shows us what we need.

Faith comes from going through whatever is before us. If it is physical suffering, we should treat it, but not resent the pain.
If it is emotional pain the same thing goes. It is our resentments that separate us from God and we seek something to treat stress and discomfort the pain and not understand the underlying cause of the emotional upsets.
Going through our pain and discomforts without resentments is what leads to true faith.

I agree with you about the faith. When I spoke on faith, I was trying
to say I do not believe in the "hyper-faith" where people are told if they
have faith enough to believe they will receive it.

I don't see that to be the case with many people of strong faith as we
believe. We have had to go through things in our life to bring us to where
we are in our faith walk with the Lord. ( I hope you understand ) .

The new Christians listening to certain 'faith' teachers will, as I once did,
think, all one has to do is name it and claim it. That is what I was trying
to speak of. Thanks so much for your explanation. God Bless ~
