I am glad to hang out in CC. Unfortunately satan is not too happy with it and sends his false teachers here in droves, in hopes of making this site ineffective for the cause of Christ. Fortunately for us, we have the bible and Paul gives us some concepts about these false teachers.

7You were running well; who hindered you from obeying the truth? 8This persuasion did not come from Him who calls you. 9A little leaven leavens the whole lump of dough. 10I have confidence in you in the Lord that you will adopt no other view; but the one who is disturbing you will bear his judgment, whoever he is. 11But I, brethren, if I still preach circumcision, why am I still persecuted? Then the stumbling block of the cross has been abolished. 12I wish that those who are troubling you would even mutilate themselves. Gal 5:7:12 NASB
1) You were running well; who hindered you from obeying the truth?
Here Paul gives us a clue as to what these false teachers do--they hinder us from obeying the truth. Satan always tries to hinder us and these false teachers are no doubt from satan.

2)
This persuasion did not come from Him who calls you.
Here Paul gives us a clue how false teachers operate, by using persuasion. Hitler used persuasion to get Germany to follow him. Even Eve was persuaded to eat the forbidden fruit by the serpent. Today we see how cults do their dirty work by persuasion.

3) A little leaven leavens the whole lump of dough.
Leaven puffs dough up so when can enjoy nice fluffy bread. In the Old testament, yeast is a symbol for pride, because pride puffs up a person. So another trait of false teachers is good old fashioned pride. Satan fell hard from pride and no doubt false teachers have plenty of this.

4) I have confidence in you in the Lord that you will adopt no other view; but the one who is disturbing you will bear his judgment, whoever he isPaul is confident that this false teacher will fail. Most attempts by these false teachers are destined to fail, but we are warned of them so they do pose a danger. Charles Russel tried hard to sell his message. He was a shoe salesman but moonlighted as a false teacher. His persistence finally paid off and founded the Jehovah's Witnesses who still exist today. Their end is judgement from God. I have no clue what this judgement is. Is it in this life or next? All I know is I hope to never find out.

5) But I, brethren, if I still preach circumcision, why am I still persecuted? Then the stumbling block of the cross has been abolished.
Paul was contending with the Judaizers. They wanted the gentile converts to undergo circumcision but Paul never approved of that. Paul asks a strange question: If I still preach circumcision, why am I being persecuted? We are not persecuted if we go along with satan's schemes, but persecution is a sign that we are for truth. If we go along with satan's plans we will stop preaching about the cross and people wont get saved. So another hallmark of a false teacher is one who is not persecuted by satan and tries to remove the stumbling block of the cross.

6) I wish that those who are troubling you would even mutilate themselves.
Here we see another glimpse of what a false teacher is all about. They are hypocrites, who may not even practice what they preach. They want others to undergo trails but they avoid them. Joseph Smith, founder of the Mormons forbade others from consuming alcohol, but he kept a bar in his home and claimed he was entitled to it. Jesus said the religious leaders would put burdens on others that they do not keep and they do nothing to help them.

Here on CC I have seen a disproportionate amount of false teaching as satan attempts to derail CC. We have many evolutionists who waste their time preaching their message that science is trustworthy and there is no need for any gods. We have many who claim we should eat according to Mosaic laws and never eat pork or shellfish. We have some false teachers who claim we should only go to Church on the Sabbath. One false teacher claimed we should only associate with people of our race.

Have you run into any false teachers here? What have you done about them? How can we protect ourselves from them?

Danschance I have seen some not necessarily on here but I tell you if you go on You Tube there is like a stack full of them. Claiming this and that. At the end of the day the best thing is to test the spirits ie see how it stacks up against scripture although what I have found is how people twist scripture using certain verses and neglecting others to distort truth.

I guess the truth of the matter is people allow themselves to be deceived when they trust men over God. I have even been tricked but thankfully God brought me back and helped me realise the truth. (I prayed about it as it shook me what this person said.) As I found in my circumstance what the person said didn't make me feel wholly comfortable especially because of the scripture he had ignored.

You should be weary of judging others too readily. Paul the apostle was acutely aware that many had weak faith and preferred to live by their own laws, customs and traditions, including Jewish Christians who kept on attending the temple and observing Jewish laws. That fact alone did not make them "false teachers" for Paul saw that the law had come to denote only political affiliation that faith supervened (Rom 14 etc). The patriarchs all married people of their own race and numerous people keep to that tradition. To condemn them all as "false teachers" just because they don't agree with your own political outlook is quite preposterous.

A false teacher is primarily someone who actively undermines fundamental tenets of the faith, and not someone with different politics or scientific outlook to ourselves. Lack of belief in evolution is not a fundamental tenet of faith but in respect of animals, evolution is a scientifically proven fact.

Really?

[video=youtube;fk8W0jsagHg]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fk8W0jsagHg[/video]
Darwin himself admitted that if transitional fossils leading to the Cambrian Explosion weren't found, his theory was wrong. Those fossils have not been found.

Oops, I was just listening to the video and it said this....

Really? I should be careful? ARe you sure?

I have seen in recent times on this site:
1) People denying the trinity.
2) People denying the divinity of Christ.
3) People claiming we must obey the Sabbath.
4) People claiming you must have a works based salvation plus grace.
5) People claiming we must obey Jewish laws.
6) People claiming New Testament can not be trusted.
7) One man who claims Sheol is the gap or gulf between Hell and Abraham's Bosom.
8) One man told me satan controls telescopes.
9) On man who claims we can only associate with people of our ethnic or racial origins.

I am judging what they have put into print that is plain heresy and no, I won't be careful about that. I won't tolerate it. Jesus said in Revelation: "I have this problem with you. You tolerate that Jezebel among you." So go ahead and be tolerant of false doctrine being taught here and see where that gets you with God.

If I'm not careful, I find myself arguing with them, which just gives them a platform to enforce their lies. If I am able to see them for what they are instantly, I will make a statement and leave it at that. Sometimes I don't do anything at all, except encourage those that are standing for truth against them. Once or twice I've added them to my ignore list.

And that's how I've handled it and yes they are on here. I've seen many false doctrines spread around here. There are some users, when I see their names on a thread, that I light up and look forward to reading their posts. Likewise, there are some, when I see their user names on the thread, that I groan and avoid opening the thread until someone else posts.

Seems to me you are throwing rocks in your own glass house. After all, you exhort others to believe that a spirit filled, blood bought son or daughter of God can be possessed by an evil spirit or have a demon.

This completely shows you have little or no understanding of the Bible yourself and you, yourself could be considered a false teacher...

The Bible is very clear that the devil and the Holy Ghost cannot share the same temple. To teach this is to teach a false doctrine and to say without any remorse that the Work on the Cross and Jesus rising again is not as powerful as the powers of darkness and gives the devil true god like status.

Not to take away from Dan, but you are right about YouTube. I have visited there a lot,
and I was so surprised at how many 'false teachers' abound. However, often times if we
want to discern the Church A from Church B .... spend 30 mins. listen to the two different
teachings, and it helps discover where the truth is being taught.

One more thought. I know we all will have difference of opinion. Why it has to be this
way, I don't really know. But, as long as we know Jesus Christ is the Savior, and we
have received Him and study the Word, we can only help one another. It is necessary
to expose the false prophets and religions. ~

This why I asked for help on selecting a paragraph out of a Thread... I am not
liking because of what is being said against Poster... But I do want to say I agree
about the Christian can't be possessed. That's all ~

Not trying to be harsh about this thought, but I thought to myself something I
never saw before.... What might appear to be 'false doctrine' to one might not
appear that way to another. So, how do we determine who is right or wrong?
I have been saved since 1969. Studied a lot of teachers over the years. Yet,
now I find some I thought were teaching scriptural interpretations, turns out
were in error. Such a confusing time in these days. Hopefully we will all be
able to know the Truth as God wrote it, and be of help to new Christians. I
am truly saddened by the teachings some of the new Christians are trying to
put out as Scripture. Some have not matured enough to have all the answers.
I know even now I am learning new things.

I would say that you know in your spirit if something is off. If you feel that questioning at all, go to the word. Anything that is adding or taking away from God's word is false, regardless of their justifications.

Someone recently said that Christians that tithe lack faith. Seriously? Tithing is a step of faith, trusting in God to provide and to make the 90% of one's income go further than the 100% could go. This isn't about tithing or not, but the fact that someone would out and out say that someone lacked faith just because they were tithers and the poster wasn't. Over and over again, God's word shows us that if we give, it will be given back to us. This isn't just monetary, either. People tithe their time and their talents and their gifts in faith, not just of a reward, but faith in who God is. For someone to say such a statement shows the falseness of their hearts in this area.

There are things that one knows outright is false, like some of the things mentioned in post #7, where they deny the Trinity and the Sovereignty of Christ. Other things require study and research and prayer. But, you know when truth is spoken, because you feel that assurance down in your soul. I say if you feel confused or uncertain and you search the word and cannot find it there, then it must be at least partly false and you must leave it and seek only what God would say on the subject.

I don't ignore folks lightly, either. I've ignored bullies without giving them a second chance because I won't tolerate that in my life, but most times I'll give folks the benefit of the doubt. Yet, when I see constant arguing, striving and contradicting about everything being said, you have to make a choice: keep seeing their posts or ignore them. Even then, it's not finite, because you can still choose to see a post, if you want to, and you can always unblock them.

Prov 9.1 says:
Wisdom hath builded her house, she hath hewn out her seven pillars:

Then Prov 8.12-14 says:
[SUP]12 [/SUP]I wisdom dwell with prudence, and find out knowledge of witty inventions.
[SUP]13 [/SUP]The fear of the Lord is to hate evil: pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the froward mouth, do I hate.
[SUP]14 [/SUP]Counsel is mine, and sound wisdom: I am understanding; I have strength.

The 7 pillars of wisdom are:
Prudence means-Good Judgement
Knowledge means- keen understanding
Fear of the Lord means- to hate evil
Counsel means- to gain advice
Sound Wisdom means-abiding success
Understanding means- discernment
Might means-strength

All definitions for the above are from Strong's Hebrew concordance.

Wisdom is not simply one things but has 7 attributes, one of which is understanding. The word understanding in the book of Proverbs most times means "discernment" [ perception in the absence of judgment with a view to obtaining spiritual direction and understanding.]

So how do we determine what is right or wrong regarding false doctrine?

The Bible says in James 1.5
If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.

Start praying for wisdom and the 7 pillars of wisdom. This gives you a very strong foundation.

2 Peter 1.4 says:
Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.

Romans 8.29 says:
For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.

This tells us that through the promises found in the Bible,we can be partakers of the divine nature, and the divine nature and image of the son is Jesus Christ. So we can partake of the divine nature and conform ourselves into the image of Jesus Christ. The Bible tells us all the time to be like Jesus.

So if we are to be like Jesus it stands to reason we should have the same Spirits he had.

The Bible says in Isaiah 11.1-3
And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots: And the spirit of the Lord shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord;

And shall make him of quick understanding in the fear of the Lord: and he shall not judge after the sight of his eyes, neither reprove after the hearing of his ears:

These are the 7 Spirits of God and they very much align with the 7 pillars of wisdom.

This my friend is what you pray for so that you will know who is right or wrong.

I view false teachers as those that directly come against God or the gospel as a whole. As far as individual topics or doctrines, I'm hesitant to label someone as a "false teacher", because I know that all Believers, no matter their "status" are in different points in their relationship with God and are continually learning more about Him and their relationship with Him.

There are things I know about God right now that I didn't know last year. Does that mean I was wrong, or a "false teacher" last year? I wouldn't think so, because I just didn't know. Likewise, there are things I don't know right now that I WILL know next year (and I'm sure all of us would say the same thing). Does that mean we're "false teachers" right now?

This is where the Holy Spirit comes in. We should test everything we hear, whether on an internet forum, or even from our Pastors. Let the Spirit show us what we are to glean, and what we are to discard. But just because we don't agree with everything a teacher or pastor says, that doesn't define them as a "false teacher".

But as I said at the beginning, if someone is directly and emphatically speaking against God and His salvation, we're in that "false teacher" point.

I used to teach man's role in the process of sanctification based on a threefold division of man. It is a popular teaching. When I had studied God's word more, I found that all of the scriptures that talked about man's role in the process of sanctification had a dual division of man. The scattered verses that talk about three divisions are not describing what we need to do to be sanctified. I changed my teaching based on study of God's word. Did that make me a false teacher?

Elin, you took the words right out of my mouth.

The more we study the Bible, the more God teaches us. We should avoid internet preachers, who fleece the sheep. We should read the Word of God to learn what God teaches, in context, rather than following after anyone who sets themselves up as a teacher. We should be careful in choosing our local church, to find a preacher who properly exegetes the Word, and preaches the truth, not cobbled together theologies.

Every time I read the Bible through, God teaches, corrects and admonishes me. I learn new things each reading. That is the way God intends it to be. The Holy Spirit guides us through the Bible. Not through false prophets and cults.

"So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth;
It shall not return to Me void,
But it shall accomplish what I please,
And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it." Isa. 55:11

How to Identify false teachers..... Should the knowledge of the Truth not be extremely important for this job? How well do you know the Word of God? If you know it 10% you propably will make 90% mistakes in judging the teacher. If you know 50% you propably make 50% mistakes in classifying the teahers... If you know 95 % then you propably will still beleive 5% of the false teachers to be truth teachers....If you know the Word of God 100%, ontly the Truth teachers will be Truth teachers, not ONE false teacher will pass....

So I beleive this Verse...... You shall know the Truth, and the Truth shall make you free.....If God says I shall know the Truth, I shall know the Truth 100% not 99,999999%.... 100%. And that, only THAT shall make me free....

I have PLEADED and BEGGED, and advized ALL the time.... People, spend less time on CC and more time on GOD! Go to your rooms and study the Word of God with His Spirit as a TEACHER and you shall know ALL the teachers that has His Spirit. They preach EXACTLY what He preach in the Word of God. Not only that, When HE revels Scripture to you HE does this with a PURPOSE.... He reveals Scripture to you so you can SHARE the TRUTH.... And here is the shocker..... If you know the Truth, the sinners would not beleive you, they would rather beleive the OTHER sinner that preach lies to them.

Dan, my man.... It is the biggest fight raging on earth.... From day ONE sin entered into the world.... Truth vs. Lies....

My biggest struggle is NOT preaching Truth, that comes easy, for God gave me revelation of Scripture, my biggest struggle is to get people to agknowledge the Truth..... Even yuo my dear friend, you believed the Lie for so long, it is VERY difficult for you to believe the Truth. You see this is the fact I see every day. People lived so comfortable with the lie: we are all sinners, and it is ok to sin, for Jesus will cover you with His blood, and God sees you holy and perfect.... But it is a LIE! The Bible does not teach this. not in one single verse....

Let me ask you this. Can you prove that God uses sinners to preach to sinners? Or best prove we have is this....
1 Peter 4:18... And if the righteous scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear?

Since there is only ONE level of righteousness, all righteous people is as SINLESS as God is SINLESS... And this verse says explicitly, if the SINLESS (righteous is with NO SIN) scarcely be saved how will a sinner, even with one sin (ungodly only needs one sin) be saved? Where shall they appear?

How can I be a false teacher, if I ONLY use the Truth to prove to ALL I share it with... that God will not save a single sinner! God will only save HIS RIGHTEOUS MEN... God gave every sinner ALL the sinner needs to become a righteous man of God. There will be NO excuse , pardon or aquital of sin on that day.....

Every sin we repent from, even the Angels have a party in heaven fro the AQUITAL, and PARDON for that sin PREVIOUSLY COMMITTED... that means you will NEVER do that sin again, or God will tell the Angels, NOT TO PARTY YET, Next time will be the last.... God does not grief or repent from ANY gift He gives us... God KNOWS when we are done with a sin, and then thet PARTY in heaven.... And when we are done with ALL sin, we party with them.... That is the moment you enter to where Jesus is...

Why can't people see this? Jesus says.... Father... And read this for ONCE in your life take time and make sure you get EVERY Truth from this Scripture....
Ok lease pray this with me with ALL the faith you can muster up....This is the most important prayer you have EVER prayed....
Oh dear Lord Jesus, SHOW me what I have not seen in Your prayer. Lord please take all blockages and covers from my eyes. Lord SHOW me Your Truth, and let me behold Your glory, AMEN!

John 17:23 to 26.... I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me.
Father, I will that they also, whom thou hast given me, be with me where I am; that they may behold my glory, which thou hast given me: for thou lovedst me before the foundation of the world.
Joh 17:25 O righteous Father, the world hath not known thee: but I have known thee, and these have known that thou hast sent me.
Joh 17:26 And I have declared unto them thy name, and will declare it: that the love wherewith thou hast loved me may be in them, and I in them.

No the lack of the Truth still keeps you a false teacher.... the Truth is ....BE PERFECT! How can the Truth made you free but you still sin? How can you be a new Creature if the old is still there? How can you preach truth if you live a lie? No My friend go to God for His Truth, and you shall be free, new and in Truth.... Read my post above and believe that... It is Straight from God's Truth....
