I've already posted some threads, and I thank those that answered with honesty and Christian respect. I myself have only been a Christian for six years, and I live in an area that either has a very few number of true Christians, or has such a diversity of false doctrine, that finding someone that I can be equally yoked to is almost impossible. These are only two reasons (or excuses) as to my singleness; I can explain them to an inquirer, and add much more to them.

So in this thread, I am the inquirer, and will ask, Why are you single? What reasons can you give for your singleness? Why do you feel that you have yet to meet your mate?

As you can see, the title narrows the respondents to the saddened and distraught; I know that there are many that have, of their own will (whether in obedience to God or because of their own will) chosen to remain single, and this thread is not for you. Please do not post your reasons here, neither your opinion nor your encouragement. This will be exclusively for those that are discontented of their singleness, and will be a perfect liberty to complain, whine, cry out, express (carefully) anger, request prayer, encourage those that are in the same plight, and admit to confusion and unbelief.

Basically, you can confess your sadness here.

And I advise those that (as they may believe) seek to help: please, do not. There are many Christians (falsely so called) that think that, with curse words and rough language, (or even with a cut and dry attitude) they encourage; they neither encourage nor do they exhort with godly wisdom. Stay away from here.

I been single 5 years, try so hard to look for a Christian woman but never did have one.
I been hurt 5 years ago til couple of moths.
It seems every Ik doesn't care if I been hurt.

I'm single, and not exactly happy about it, so I don't feel bad posting something like "what's the point of this whole thing?" Yes, if your sad, depressed, distraught, please, tell us, but don't any one dare try saying anything helpful or encouraging because that's just ridiculous.

I'm sorry, aside from wallowing in self-pity this thread is pointless.

I do understand though, that sometimes the self-pitying phase, while maybe not the most productive or helpful, can sometimes feel like a good cry when trying to "wash out your soul" or journey through the phases of grief.

I heard a quote once: "It's ok to glance back at the past. Just don't stop and stare." (Remember what happened to Lot's wife when she looked back.)

I sympathize with anyone going through the sad and discouraged phase because I've gone up and down through those phases all my life, and probably always will, but I'm trying now to look at every day past day as something done... and every tomorrow as a chance to start again. In the movie, "Pacific Rim", it really struck me when the main character said, "I spent so much time living in the past, I never really thought much about the future."

I was at a point where I never even wanted to look at the future but I know God is helping me through... and I hope you allow God to get you to that point as well. :) It may take time, I understand (it's taken me many years!!) All I can say is, be smarter than I was! :) And don't be afraid to tell God every day about how you feel and ask Him for help.

While I get very discouraged at times too, I know part of why I'm single is because I haven't met anyone who has similar ministry interests (prisons) or is in a similar place in life (past the point of wanting children).

Sometimes, the sad and discouraged phase is also what will keep you single... Because it's not really a healthy time to date... and unless you're looking for another sad and discouraged person who is looking for someone to cling to, most people who are on the upward climb or emotionally healthy will not want to be pulled into the black hole of grief a sad and discouraged person is stuck in.

I just put him on ignore. He's not interested in getting help or encouragement. "Misery loves company" as this thread proves.

There's nothing wrong with confessing our emotions. That's healthy, and being open and honest with fellow Christians is encouraged.

Wallowing in our emotions and asking people to not be helpful...is just absurd.

Sometimes people don't really want someone to give them advice. They just want to feel like there are others who understand what they are going through. I get that.

I'm a "fixer". My personal effort at growth has been to slow down on the fixing, and just listen and sympathize when people talk.

Art, Buddy I love ya you have become a close friend of mine I know your intentions are good and I know your heart is good! but you know as well as I do Hope deffered maketh the heart sick that is in proverbs, If you are hope less you are heart sick and you need to seek God for that Hope because he restore it... it says in Psalm 23 He restores our soul for his name sake, crazy right? but awesome! I know God has someone for you he made that clear to me when I prayed but you gotta learn to trust him in this area, Believe me I am preaching to myself here too. Its hard to trust what you cannot see but that is why we have FAITH! keep asking God to provide you faith and yes you can be upset and sad and all that but if you love God then do your best to try and TRUST him and if you do not know how keep asking him to , Its all about perspective. Please don't get mad I am being honest! I recently realize I am not ready for that man yet cause whether I admit to it or not I can get too caught up in the emotional aspect and not caught up enough in the spiritual... God is gonna break that in me , hopefully this weekend and man am I ready! but you know I am here anytime you feel pain or are upset, Gods got you though!

He's not posting anything horrible or gross, if he or someone else wants to let it out then what's the harm? It's kind of like Festivus when you have the airing of the grievances/

Okay, now I am saddened and distraught because only 4 people actually posted their reasons for singleness, and ... that's what this thread was about :/

Sigh ...
