Well then don't open your mouth about something you do not have a good and well understanding of.
Wow, so you can post crazy theories and then tell me to shut up? (i.e. a translation from the original languages is superior to them) How Christian of you.

It is my sole opinion that ANYONE who places a Bible above Jesus is making it an Idol. I believe the KJB Only crowd has in fact done that. They place the KJB over Jesus, its the text not what is in the text.

Chosenbyhim is another follower of Peter Ruckman, notice I said follow of Peter Ruckman. They call themselves Bible believers, but are very legalistic Baptists. Ruckman doe snot create believers, he creates cult followers that bow down to the KJB and Peter Ruckman...

Can a creator be inferior to its creation? That makes no sense. Yet this is what the KJV only nuts are claiming. The KJV came from Greek and Hebrew texts, but they claim it is inspired---TILT.

It is actually quite scary that people fall for type of nonsense.

Good post

Yes, that is complete double speak. The KJV was translated from Hebrew and Greek but the Hebrew and Greek is declared inferior. Total nonsense.

I think an angel told him he KJV was perfect, otherwise how could he know?

Oh, yea. because the KJV was authorized by a king... which is really significant.... because that means that it was obviously not translated with any political bias, or doctrinal agenda...

I used to read the KJV until I heard about the ONLYIST cult (from this forum actually). Now I stay away from it for the most part, even though I miss the beautiful linguistics.

Well, I'm glad that God used this thread to bring people to the attention of others who care (me :) ). Now I have some people to pray for and some wisdom to request from God about this subject.

I still like the NLT and prefer it over other translations.

Any Mods (if that's what you call them)out there who would be willing to maybe shut this thread down or something so people can't make fun of and hurt each other anymore?

No matter what translation you're reading, that's not right in God's eyes.

ChosenbyHim

You quoted

in verse 2 the quote "ἐντῷἨσαΐᾳτῷπροφήτῃ" is seen in the earliest Western type texts as well as the Alexandrian manuscripts. You are suggesting that they are wrong despite their age and authenticity for a later manuscript type.

This is just one example of why I believe that you are wrong.

In addition to that we clearly see in a verse 3 a quote from from Isaiah. Now can you tell me why we wouldn't understand verse 2 to be speaking about the prophet Isaiah and also why the earliest Manuscripts in fact state the obvious
ἐντῷἨσαΐᾳτῷπροφήτῃ

Good luck

The best way is to pray.
Learn biblical Greek and Hebrew (or rely on the available tools).
pray.
Read several English translations.
pray.
Learn a few foreign languages and read those translations.
pray.
Read commentaries when there is still doubt (prayerfully). Don't be afraid of commentaries. The Holy Spirit has been speaking to men for thousands of years. You are not the first one he chose to speak to.
The original manuscripts are infallible. The translations are not.
The very last thing you said was well said :)

No, no, no...you're just not getting this.

The Greek and Hebrew was translated from the KJV. When you understand this everything will make sense. :)

Seriously though, the KJV has served mankind wonderfully. Many mighty men and women of God have used the KJV as their bibles and many mighty revivals and moves of God have been wrought amongst the generations through the words of the KJV.

'Oh that thou wouldest rend the heavens, that thou wouldest come down, that the mountains might flow down at thy presence' (Is 64:1)

What a shame that KJY onlyists in their zeal merely serve to turn people further away from the version that they love.

So you're saying that the bible was written in English before any other language? English existed in the time of Moses?

You might want to get your facts straightened out on that one brother.

DG, I was being ironic...joking. About the bible being written in English. Which of course it was if the KJV is more accurate than the Hebrew and Greek texts!

Nope don't think so. If that were the case we would have the biblical equivalent of the Koran.

Actually is just the opposite. If there is no inerrant word of God to base our beliefs on, then the God we worship is the God we made up in our minds.
