Christ is called ”The Law” in Scripture, He supercedes the laws of Moses. This means?

Re: Christ is called ”The Law” in Scripture, He supercedes the laws of Moses. This me

Prophetic riddles can have more than one meaning, so private interpretation of them is uncertain.
[h=3]1 John 5[/h]King James Version (KJV)

5 Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God: and every one that loveth him that begat loveth him also that is begotten of him.
2 By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments.
3 For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous

One of the reasons the Old Testament Law was given was so that Jesus could legally earn man's redemption. Now that the purchase has been completed, that function of the Law is over.
I've never seen things in this way... Thank u for this very interesting point of view.

While people ignore the verses they don't like this debate will continue.

Do you think Adam and Eve are saved ?
All I can say is that God gave them sacrifice to atone for their sin (Ge 3:21), using the hides as garments of righteousness (Isa 61:10).

I assume they repented, believed God's promise (Ge 3:15; 4:1), and were saved by faith in the Promise (Jesus Christ).

Sorry about all the boxes, but it is the only way to give context.

We also need to understand exactly and precisely how Christ changed the law.
It is God who changed the law (Heb 7:12). . .when he made Christ the eternal High Priest
(Heb 7:17, 21) of a new priesthood in the order of Melchizedek (Heb 7:12), thereby
setting aside the Mosaic law on which the Aaronic priesthood was based (Heb 7:11).
We both agree that the law was changed by Christ,
That God himself changed the priesthood from the Aaronic priesthood to the priesthood in the order of Melchizedek (Heb 7:11), thereby changing the Law (Heb 7:12), setting it aside (Heb 7:18-19), is without dispute in the word of God.
our problem is not in changing but Moses being cancelled.
That the law of Christ, which is the law of love (Mt 22:37-41) fulfills the Ten Commandments (Ro 13:8-10) is without dispute in the word of God.

The law of Christ
(1Co 9:20-21), which has no curse attached, has replaced the law of Moses with its curse (Gal 3:10) for imperfect obedience (Dt 27:26).
That is a huge difference for the people of God, from works-based righteousness to faith-based righteousness.

That the law of Moses is not the means of righteousness (Ro 3:20) to salvation is without dispute in the word of God.
Also, we are having a problem with scripture being given to Israel only and not for our ears.
In the OT, God did not give the Scriptures to the Gentiles.

In the NT, God gives the Scriptures to both Jews and Gentiles.
There is a difference in your and my concept of "change". We agree on that change was made, I believe that when God gave us His Son, God meant that as a means for us to grow and change as opposed to the idea of wiping out all the instructions and words before and starting all new.
The OT is not "wiped out," the NT presents its intended purpose.

The Mosaic law with its curse (Gal 3:10) has been set aside, and replaced with the law of Christ (1Co 9:20-21) which has not curse, and which fulfills the law (Ro 13:8-10).
How then can we explain these verses found in Revelation 12:17 .....'And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.'
Revelation 14:12 .....'Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.'
Revelation 22:14 .....'Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.'
As we can see, there is an amazing promise for all those who are DOERS of God's commandments. But we don't obey God to be saved, we obey Him because we ARE saved, and obedience to His law is the outworking of His grace in our lives and is the EVIDENCE of our faith in Jesus ... 1 John 5:2-3 .....'By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments. For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.' ... This is what God wants. For us to keep His commandments out of love for who He is and what He has done for us.
The commandments of God are the law of Christ (Mt 22:37-39; 1Co 9:20-21), which fulfills the law
(Mt 22:40; Ro 13:8-10).

Is this a part of the law of Moses or the law of God?
It is the law of Moses given by God, which was the basis of the Sinaitic covenant,
which was added (Gal 3:29; Ro 5:20) temporarily to the Abrahamic covenant, and then
changed by God when he changed the priesthood from the order of Aaron to the order of
Melchizedek (Heb 7:11-12), making Christ the eternal High Priest of the new order (Heb 7:17, 21).

In changing the Aaronic priesthood, on which the law was based (Heb 7:11-12),
God thereby set aside the law (Heb 7:18-19).
And in setting aside the law on which the (Sinaitic) old covenant was based,
God thereby made the old covenant obsolete (Heb 8:13).

The old (Sinaitic) covenant and the law on which is was based have been replaced
with the new covenant and the law of Christ (1Co 9:20-21; Gal 6:2), which is love (Mt 22:37-39),
and which fulfills the law (Mt 22:40; Ro 13:8-10).

Does this verse still stand today seeing it was part of the law of Moses

Christ's law of love (Mt 22:37-40) fulfills the law, for

if I love God, I will not worship idols nor take his name in vain;
if I love my parents, I will not dishonor them;
if I love my neighbors, I will not steal from them, murder them, commit adultery with their spouses,
nor lust after their possessions (nor curse the deaf, nor put stumbling blocks before the blind, nor. . .).

Love fulfills the whole law (Mt 22:40).

Why did you forget the sabbath ?
Why did Jesus?

You know the commandments: ‘Do not murder, do not commit adultery, do not steal, do not give false testimony, do not defraud, honor your father and mother.’*” Mark 10:19

Why did Paul?

Owe nothing to anyone, except to love one another, for the one who loves someone else has fulfilled the law. For the commandments, “You shall not commit adultery, you shall not commit murder, you shall not steal, you shall not covet,” and if there is any other commandment, are summed up in this statement: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” Love does not commit evil against a neighbor. Therefore love is the fulfillment of the law. Romans 13:8-10

Actually, Paul didn't leave out the 4th commandment because he said "if there is any other commandment" it is fulfilled by love.

That is part of the defilements of the Mosaic law, which law has been set aside (Heb 7:12, 18-19).

The defilement laws were not about moral defilement, but about ceremonial defilement,
just as childbirth (Lev 12:2) and sexual intercourse (Lev 15:16-18) were ceremonially defiling,
and not morally defiling.

Sin is now based on failure to love God and others (Mt 22:37-40; 1Co 9:20-21).

Is it a sin to take a tattoo of a bible verse ? Why or Why not
The answer is the same:

Sin is now based on failure to love God and others.

Re: Christ is called ”The Law” in Scripture, He supercedes the laws of Moses. This me

Why did you forget the sabbath ?
Didn't forget the NT Sabbath at all.

Heb 4:4-11 - " 'So I declared an oath in my anger, "They shall never enter my rest." '
For somewhere God has spoken about the seventh day in these words:

'And on the seventh day God rested from all his works.'

And again in the passage above he says, 'They shall never enter my rest.'

It still remains that some will enter that rest, and those who formerly had the gospel preached to them (Gal 3:8) did not go in, because of their disobedience. Therefore, God set a certain day, calling it Today, when a long time later he spoke to David, as was said before:
'Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts.'

For if Joshua had given them rest, God would not have spoken later about another day.
There remains, then, a Sabbath rest for the people of God;
for anyone who enters God's rest also rests (in Christ) from his own work
, just as God did from his.

Let us therefore, make every effort to enter that rest (salvation-rest by faith, and not follow Israel's example of unbelief in the desert),
so that no one will fall by following their example of disobedience.

In the NT, Christ is the Sabbath rest for the people of God,
their Sabbath rest is not the seventh, or any other, day of the week.
It is the person of Christ Jesus.

Which is not to say that the NT people of God do not assemble together (Heb 10:25)
to hear the word, to fellowship, to participate in the Lord's Supper and to pray (Ac 2:42).

But the NT people of God from the beginning have chosen the first day of the week (Ac 20:7),
on which the Christ rose from the dead, to do so.

In the NT, the Sabbath rest is not a day, it is a Person.
