Google highlights the Nexus 5's camera in first commercial | The Verge

Anyone willing to boycot a major company for the sake of principle has a new potential target. The new Nexus 5 commercial has a wonderful camera that can capture your favorite wedding moments... even homosexual ones. Within the first 10 seconds of the Nexus 5 commercial a gay couple is shown holding hands and walking smilingly away from the view of onlookers. The message: capture the finest wedding moments on the Nexus 5 (even though it's not really a wedding if marriage is between a man and a woman and not two men). In this age of muddled lines apparently the pseudo-marriage of two men is a grand thing to be portrayed in a normal fashion on screen. Excuse me?
 
I love how it was very sudden, abrupt, and you had to be paying attention to notice it...

I think its just testing the waters... In 25 years, when I am finally going through my mid-life crisis... I think america is going to ostracize people who go with what psychology has found... And say homosexuality is a mental illness....
 
Going to? Where have you been? You're already a bigot, hate monger, homophobe if you don't 100% support them.
And i believe the DSM V has taken homosexuality out of the 'mental illness' label some time ago.
 
LOL There was an article in World Magazine a few years ago stating that certain professionals are starting to claim Christianity is a mental illness that tends to cause abuse.

45% to 55% Vote on the DSM you are referencing...

Also it the vote was not because new evidence was found against homosexuality being a mental illness.. It was because the public attention homosexuality was getting...


Then in 1970 gay activists protested against the APA convention in San Francisco. These scenes were repeated in 1971, and as people came out of the “closet” and felt empowered politically and socially, the APA directorate became increasingly uncomfortable with their stance. In 1973 the APA’s nomenclature task force recommended that homosexuality be declared normal. The trustees were not prepared to go that far, but they did vote to remove homosexuality from the list of mental illnesses by a vote of 13 to 0, with 2 abstentions. This decision was confirmed by a vote of the APA membership, and homosexuality was no longer listed in the seventh edition of DSM-II, which was issued in 1974.


What’s noteworthy about this is that the removal of homosexuality from the list of mental illnesses was not triggered by some scientific breakthrough. There was no new fact or set of facts that stimulated this major change. Rather, it was the simple reality that gay people started to kick up a fuss. They gained a voice and began to make themselves heard. And the APA reacted with truly astonishing speed. And with good reason. They realized intuitively that a protracted battle would have drawn increasing attention to the spurious nature of their entire taxonomy. So they quickly “cut loose” the gay community and forestalled any radical scrutiny of the DSM system generally.


Also noteworthy is the fact that the vote of the membership was by no means unanimous. Only about 55% of the members who voted favored the change.

Remember their support for the "it gets better" project?
 
Im curious why people are surprised over this? It;'s not like google ever claimed to be a christian company or anything. So why would it be shocking to see them go against your beliefs?
 
Paul says to not be surprised or to expect the world to adhere to our belief system. Don't get so worked up when the world behaves like the world. Instead pray for them. Instead reach out to them. And you know what? It's not Christianity that is hateful or anything, it's its people. We latch onto things and get ourselves worked up so we can feel superior. If Jesus is willing to hang out with tax collectors, prostitutes, and various other sinners so that they can be saved, so should we.


I'm not going to boycott Google. It's pointless. 1) You can't rally enough people to put a dent in their bottom line and 2) most Christian boycotts are just temper tantrums. It's just plain silly.



Maybe it's just my mood today, but I say let the world burn. I want to go home... I want to see my Father.
 
Apparently the ad worked.
Remember that a boycot will only get the advertisement more attention, and will make the camera even more 'cool' to people who support gay marriage. People are going to want to buy it, not so much because they like the camera, but to make a political statement.

So if the ad offends you, best thing to do is to ignore it I guess.
 
take pliers, open mouth, take gay agenda, shove down throats, repeat, repeat........
 
Personally, I care more about Google's human rights record (China etc) than the commercial.
