wow i love the comic, it also very true there is so much confusion in the church these days. but here is a question. we are to work six days and rest the seventh yes? God if genesis is taken literally worked sis days and rested the seventh. is that a mere coincidence? no it is not
Wow leave it to a sabbath-obsessed person to derail a thread onto the sabbath in the very first post.

So, true. Reading the Bible in context helps.
Yes, I too take Genesis 1 and 2 both literally. They're not particularly detailed accounts or anything but they are historical and true.

Jesus covered the sabbath in the bible. It was made for the benefit of man because man's body is limited to the amount of work it can do before it collapses. God didn't need to rest, he chose to. If God needed to rest he wouldn't be all powerful. Jesus demonstrated that in his ministry. He healed many people on the sabbath. Is healing not work?
I suggest you read God's word a little more carefully and pray about the information you're reading.

Apply this to the rest of the bible, and you find that most who say they are Christian don't care for scripture.

How is Gods word? as it is written or as it proceedeth out of the MOUTH of God, or both?
Should we take scripture as it is given to us, a book to read and abide by written word? Or should we be lead by our High Priest Jesus Christ in Spirit to guide us through it? Because flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit and the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh but after the Spirit (Romans 8:4)

First i would like to say i am not sabbath obssessed because i do not keep it. and i refered to the sabath because i think the commandment to rest on the seventh day is proof God made the world in seven literal days.You love this comic? there is the Written Word of God and the Living Word of God......and BOTH are intended to lead us.......just the way He planned it..........Reading the Written Word of God has not one thing to do with minding the "things of the flesh," for there is much "meat" in the Written Word that earthy/carnal Christians do not yet understand.
Jesus sent the Holy Spirit to dwell within us to lead, guide, and teach us His Word.........Those who do not have the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit are relying on the wisdom of man, and they will fail every time.
Reading and understanding...........kinda important in my opinion anyway........

I agree, this is what I am trying to say, I don't think you can have one without the other and many people do read the written word yet do not acknowledge the Spirit of Christ and come to their own understanding without the living guidence.

I got out of it that leave it to a child to bring forth the word of God. The little children shall lead us......
I take what God says as both literal and spiritual. God said He made the earth in His image, so we can look at the literal that happened and see the spiritual meaning behind it.
I also don't think that God stated that he completely created everything in seven days. Many have decided that is God's statement, they believe the scientist and decide, on the basis of that to not believe anything of God. Ridiculous. Scripture says that on the first day God tells us about there was a world of only darkness, with that darkness being something of ignorance, misery. Then God created light made of the opposite of that darkness and called it the first day.
The first people to hear these words had no interest in learning of a time schedule of the Lord, they were interested only in that God created the world. I don't think that what God wanted us to understand from all this was a time schedule or how to do it report, only that God created it. Often scripture tells us what we need to know without filling in the details. Personally, I have decided not to stand firm on the details, only on what God tells us to understand.
It also seems unreasonable to me that people who say they believe in the literal seven days from start to finish also stand firm on rejecting what God says about the day of rest!
